Mature, ready to drink now. Still fresh with no noticeable alcohol. Sweet entry, long dry finish. Only the dry finish is a marker from the hot 2003 conditions. Excellent.

nose: plum, earthy, tobacco
palate: plum, vanilla, oak, smoke

30분 브리딩 이후 마심. 처음에는 알코올 향이 조금 튀는 느낌이었으나 시간이 지날수록 맛이 살아난다.
상쾌한 느낌!! plum이 가미되어 있는 vanilla, oak 의 향과 맛. 미디움 투 풀 바디, 적절한 탄닌감.
여운감이 꽤 지속된다. 5만원 이하로 매우 만족스럽다.

Purple rim. Beautiful bouquet with dark and red berries and well dosed oak. Same on the palate, blackberries, coconut, good acidity, grainy tannin, pleasant oak and a good length. Textbook Rioja. 90 – 91

An evening with a good friend at Pecorella (Trattoria Pecorella, Yokohama, Japan): Still a young wine but showing extreme promise!
Obviously, a lot has happened since the previous taster's note on this wine. Today, it is an elegant, yet impressively powerful wine that is perfectly balanced with elegance, acidity and tannins. Still dominated by the fruit, but that is going away, at least one day.

Pure red fruits and berries, a bit of herbal qualities rounding it off in a glorious way. Beginning saddle leather and beautiful minerality (clay and wet terracotta).

Wish I had more bottles!

Excellent GR Rioja at the very excellent Meson Castellano in PDLA, Tenerife with the Cordero Lechal. The 24 months in American oak was very present but the wine was beautifully balanced between soft red fruit and sweet vanilla.

De wijn was weer fantastisch, vol, romig, subtiel hout, fruitig met rijpe bessen, kersen, hint van bananen. Kruidig, droogbloemen.
In de mond mooie balans tussen zuren en tannines. Lange afdronk met veel fruittinten
Gegeten bij Lasagne met courgette en gehakt "spektakel" van AH. Ook op de late avond als borrel gedronken, echt verslavend!

This is good, but is Rioja Light.
The nose is nice but not long.
Taste is also light. Plums leather blackberry.
Finish is short.
This is disappointing from Louis Cana.

19 mois en futs français et caucasien
Très beau Rioja.
Nez : arômes sur le caramel, les fruits rouge.
En bouche : les tanins sont fondus. Belle longueur en bouche, très appétant.

Tempranillo con un 5% de Graciano y 18 meses de crianza en barrica de roble francés y americano (60-40%). Alc. 14.5% vol. En copa un color rojo cereza oscuro, brillante y limpio de capa alta. Nariz de muchos matices empireumáticos como coco quemado, toffee y café, luego frutas rojas y negras maduras. En boca continúa la mezcla de fruta y tostados, acidez alta agradable, taninos pulidos, volumen medio+ y final persistente. Un corte clásico que me gusta, aunque se integrará y mejorará con un poco más de botella.

Eðalklúbbur, haustsmakk #1 2023 (Marbakkabraut 12): Vínið var loftað í 1-2 tíma.
Rjótt í vöngum. Ekki gamall litur.
Í ilmi: Vanilla, ljós bjartur ávöxtur, lofnarblóm, gúmmí, blautt píputóbak, sæta.
Mikill ferskleiki á tungu. Mentól, mynta (spjót), hvítur pipar. Grænir tónar en með mjúkum tannínum. Þykkt og mikið vín. Svolítið hrjúft ennþá. Nett eikað og þarna eru líka kryddtónar.
Vín sem er bara rétt að byrja ferilinn. Vín kvöldsins fyrir mig án nokkurs vafa. Ég gæti þurft að útvega mér eitthvað af þessu víni.

Deep, dark red. Lots of alcohol on the nose, even after being open 2+ hours. Some smoky plum on the nose. Delicious dark cherry flavors. Currant, raisin, maybe a little licorice. Some mineral, pebbles.

We bought in Spain in 2017. It was worth the wait.

What a fantastic wine!

In the realm of exceptional wines, this one stands prominent. Its deep, opulent robe of red belies a mere hint of its age. The bouquet transported me instantly to the vast vineyards of Australia, while my companions felt the breezy elegance of Napa and the historic charm of St. Emilion. Remarkably, our palates concurred upon tasting.

The aroma is a symphony of intense primary fruits, underscored by subtle herbal undertones. On the palate, its texture invites you to almost chew it, testament to its rich structure. Yet, it's the pronounced acidity that gifts this wine its impeccable balance. The vibrant fruit profile, which led us to surmise vintages between 2012 and 2016, remains undeniably primary and potent. Behind this, walls of tannins exist, but they are so masterfully interwoven that they remain almost concealed.

Despite its 18 years, this wine retains a youthful audacity, showing little concession to the passage of time. I eagerly anticipate revisiting it in another decade.

This marks the first bottle of a cherished quintet.

Fragrant overtones of vanilla oak, cocoa, blueberries and gravel. Palate is rich, clean and deep. Medium to full-bodied structure which is polished and open. Good length and balance on the palate. Transition to finish is smooth and flavourful. Ready to drink now with half an hour of decanting.

Coupage de Viura y Malvasía (90-10%) con fermentación en madera y crianza de 4 meses en barricas nuevas de roble francés y americano (75-25%). Alc. 13,5% vol. En copa la madera es muy sutil, quizás aportando algo de volumen y textura, pero sin quitarle la fruta y la frescura al vino. Un blanco asequible, armonioso y bastante agradable en su rango.

Clean, almost deep ruby colour. Clean, med+ intense aromas of bramble, plum, raw liquorice, thyme, rosemary, cloves, violets, light pepper, black cherry, toast, raw tobacco, light milk, medicinal and juniper core. Developing aromas.
Dry, full bodied, med+ alcohol, med+ acidity and high tannins w nice maturity. Med+ flavours of bramble, juniper, plum, toast, cloves, milk, vegetals, black and green spices, medicinal and violets. Med+ finish. Very nice RdD - drink or hold.

Excellent, vibrant tropiccal green fruit like guava on the nose. The fruit definitly balances the moderate oak that comes through with an appealing and flirty gun smokey touch as the wine breathes.
