Dark raisins, prunes, candied orange peel, hint of liquorice. Slightly spicy finish. Thick & rich and a bit cloying.

Enofusión 2016; 1/25/2016-1/27/2016 (IFEMA - Madrid): As always , it has class and scents blend in perfect harmony. From pickled sardine to carob , dates, licorice , raisins or Xmas prunes. There are also cloves and black pepper.
On the palate there are flavors reminiscent of pharmacy and adding cocoa and bitterness classy acidity and length. Wonderful persistence. English gurus will continue applying it on the top of their ice creams. A shame...
I know it is a sweet wine but my WOT Event among whites.

There is a bright crisp taste that's good with tapas and by itself. This is much better than others I have tried. I will buy more.

Color and viscosity of motor oil. Mouthful of figs, dates, and raisins; accompanied by some toffee. Pulled off a pairing with chocolate cake, but this is a niche wine that is likely best served on its own, in a small pour.

Black, viscous liquid. Exactly like motor oil. Not the most appetising introduction to be honest.

Raisins, raisins, raisins on the nose. Super intense. Very concentrated. Touch of treacle, Gula Melaka, brown sugar, etc. On palate, very full bodied. Like a port but with more balance and lower alcohol. Lingering notes of chocolate and cocoa.

A stunner. Won't be to everyone's taste, but well worth trying. A great match for malai-cake and chendol, perhaps (gasp) as a syrup or reduction. Unctuous and sublime.

No idea where all the praise is coming from. This is a banal sweet red (almost black and thick as a syrup) with one dimensional dry quetsches/prunes nose and mouth. Disappointing, although in the bame of fairness my wife liked it (hence 80 and not a bit lower).

This is Christmas in a bottle. Cinnamon and hazelnut show through with hints of orange peel and sugar plums and prunes. Just ridiculously beautiful juice. Blows the minds how smooth for a high alcohol fortified wine. A great treat and has been wonderful over three weeks and counting.

Black and syrupy in the glass
Nose is very prominent and features expresso, raisins, Carmel.
extremely concentrated flavors of raisins, dates, and stewed fruit
A sip goes a very long way and a glass would be impossible for us to drink. Very interesting to contemplate and best in small doses.

In summary, this is a wine should be drank by dropper!!! Very focused and concentrated plum juice. The layers are too compact to enjoy the spectrum of complexity. The nose is pretty like Chinese plum juice with a hit of creamy toffee, espresso, and chocolate. The wine is super sticky. It is almost like honey texture. On the palate, plum, chocolate, roasted coffee bean, honey, and a bit of acid to balance sweetness and provide freshness. It's hard to imagine that this wine is already 32 year-old. The lasting is kept for 30 seconds long.

Sweet orange marmalade, tobacco and toffee nose. Flavours of barley-sugar, coffee and curaçao, hints of citrus, caramel and bitter orange in the finish. Possibly better with food than alone?

I have done some research on this wine so let me start with that. I have read reviews from many talking about the availability of this wine and questioning the claim of only 825 bottles made. The fact is, there are several batches that have been made of this wine, 825 bottles per batch. On the bottle and the box it will say 46-1, 46-2 etc. Designating the batch number. According to my research as many as 13 batches have been made to date .The wine is preserved in tanks with nitrogen between batches as there are sometimes years between the release of one batch to the next.

The wine is spectacular. Like nothing I have tasted. Dark, inky black in the glass. The first note is of Fig with apricot, plum, molasses, dried dark fruit and hints of citrus and mocha. Real difficult to get a handle on, my palate is just not that sharp. Drank about 1/4 of the bottle, looking forward to drinking and discovering everything hidden here over the next several months (or years) as I understand this wine, although made from 65 year old fruit is ageless in the bottle.

Consumed over three successive nights, and I appreciated it as a better wine each night. Displays the concentration that great old PX almost always has with fig, candied plum, molasses, caramelized brown sugar. But this also has enticing spice notes on both the nose and palate with the back of the palate redolent with white pepper and candied ginger.

Quoted Don PX Reserva Especial (1962) - "The 1962 Don PX Reserva Especial is pitch black, dense as (used) motor oil, medicinal and balsamic, with a grassy nose of licorice, black olives, roasted coffee, smoke and ash, very intense and expressive in the palate, spicy (nutmeg) with incredible length, perhaps not as integrated as the 49 and 46. These wines have to be tasted to be believed. It was bottled after 49 years aging in bota. Drink 2013-2040."

Dark black with dark orange rim
On the nose it smells like an aged tawny port, still smells youthful and vibrant though.
Initial attack is viscous and racy all at the same time, ultra rich, toffee, raisins, fig, hazelnut. Truly amazing that is has acidity and structure to balance out the powerhouse of ripe raisined fruits.
Still has a long long life ahead of it, so tasty though not sure it's worth waiting.

Impenetrable black, still very dense on the nose, fine spice, figs. On the palate this wine is incredibly dense, completely mouth filling and opulent but very very sweet. It's verging on cloying but I think the slight acidic tartness keeps it just fresh enough. Classic caramel, fig, toffee and coffee notes on the palate. Surely no wine has the right to deliver the length that this does on the palate, it's literally there minutes after?! I opened this a month ago and it keeps well utterly unchanged in that time. Love this wine for the enjoyment it deserves late night after dinner and the amazing QPR. Still young, fruit very primary?

No comparison. This one was much thinner with less balancing acidity and less intensity.
The taste was much more fleeting and slipped away rather rapidly once the wine had gone down the gullet.

Nutty, fig and raisins on the nose, rich and huge depth on palate with figs, raisin and rich expansive tartness that fills the palate. Enormously long finish, 5 minutes of caramel and spice. Outstanding. Tasted at Jaleo in Las Vegas with dessert course.
