Originally I said Manzoni on this blind. But thinking about it, it was too supple and concentrated. On my notes, I have perfectly balanced. Nose could be a bit stronger. May be WOTN. And it was, for everyone else at least.

$68 at a restaurant. Needed 30 minutes to open up, then was mellow, slightly nutty, with doe cherry on the finish. Have had better barolos but this pleasant enough.

Well balanced wine - between tannins and acidity. Not overly fruity. Surprisingly thin for what I was expecting. Decent drinking but not one I would recommend and disappointed by the fact that it delivered so little for a Barolo.

Cherries, anis, mentha. Fine coarsed tannins. Elegant and nice balance. A bit short for a Barolo, but a good buy.

Ouch, definitely past peak. I don't get the up-front dried fruit that the other reviewer mentioned...I don't get any fruit, primary or otherwise. A little bouquet of wet earth, tobacco, and tar comes through. Very simplistic flavor profile with some earth and pleasantly harsh tar notes in the midpalate. Almost no tannin remaining.

Still drinkable, but not for much longer. Soon it will be relegated to the stockpot. Wish I could have had this a few years ago.

No rating because it would be too low to reflect the original quality of the wine.

Last bottle is best. More reminiscent of the first one. Nose is more potent with dark fruits and rose petals. It's got that winery smell that only comes from time. Texture is silky, acid is medium, finish is dry and shorter than desired. Good bottle.

Slightly backward still, even after 3 hours of air in decanter. Lovely nose; structured build with above-average purity and focus. Acids and tannins still dominating at this point, with the balance of power not likely to shift much over the next 5 years. Classic, understated. Conversely, not one that the fruit forward crowd could ever get excited about. Hold for 5-8 years, drink over the following decade plus. 14,0% abv, recommended, served non-blind.

update: absolutely perfect on night # 3, after two nights in the fridge

2003 Piedmont Party (Troy & Gina's): The first wine of the night and quite a surprise. I was not expecting anything great from this wine, but the location of the vines in the cooler parts of Brunella (where Oderro makes its Dolcetto!) actually turned out to be a blessing from this hot vintage. This was a wonderful example of Barolo from a difficult year. Nice, well integrated tannins and dark, linear fruit. A good, if somewhat short, finish. I'll not hesitate to try this producer again.

Decanted1hr, 2nd & last bottle, 1st taste 1/12, with similar notes, perhaps a bit more integrated. Loads of fruit, cherry, red plum, hints of blue fruit, could easily be mistaken blindly for new world. Based on this bottle , plenty of fruit left and should hold for several more years. Surprisingly youthful for a 10+ years old Nebbiolo!
