This wine has classic Priorat nose and slightly bitter and astringent finish. When opened, the wine was a little cold and hard but opened up about an hour later. Definitely a wine for hearty food. OK.

Some property but older vines. Can be up to 10% cabernet, and also sees 12 months in new and old French oak.

The Cabernet is co fermented with the Grenache the thought being that the Cabernet holds up the Grenache more.

Big tannins on the back end.

Now this is the red. Pronounced aromatics on the nose. From the first experimental vineyard at the enenlogy school. Great fresh fruit on the palate with crisp bite too.

Some smokey mineality to it on the nose. And I believe some new oak on the palate. Grenache Blanc and touches of Viognier and PX.

This was an interesting journey. Upon opening, I felt as if I had released a wild bull in my kitchen. Alcoholic, acidic and all over the place. I was sure I would NOT like this one! I decanted and let it rest overnight. Next day, it had calmed down, but still, I found it to be jammy and unfocused. However, on the third day, I tried it again and was pleasantly surprised. Very dark violet, inky, and almost black in the glass. Tobacco, plum and spice on the nose. Cocoa, tobacco, and black fruit on the palate. Complex, balanced, and focused. Aging gracefully either in the decanter or bottle scores big points with me, and I am looking forward to my next bottle.....
