This is a good wine. Fresh, zingy, lively & puckerish. Gooseberry (quite tart) and minerally, salty. It's an inexpensive wine (4.20 euro) and for that money really rather fine value.

Musty, a lot like TCA but slowly diminished over a few hours. Orange peel, cherry, nice punch of acid, and a bit of sweetness. Gained a silky texture and was more knit with air time, but every fresh pour had that cellar stink floating around again. Pleasant, but surely not what is was meant to be.

From an auction acquisition with a rotted label and faint seepage but good fill. Shy, rusty nose with faint tealike aromas, touch of manure. Ferrous, cherry, walnut, faint clove palate that seems bitter owing to a total lack of sweetness. Fleshy old Rioja texture with bright acidity, but fairly muted all around.

Definitely oaky but lipsmacking red ripe fruit underneath. I'd give it 10 years unless you have a high oak tolerance.

This bottle was good, but not thrilling. Quite a bit of brown color to the wine, with a somewhat musty nose at first, and never quite going away completely. Forest floor and a hint of chlorine also present in the aroma. The palate was much better, with lively, even sweet fruit, reasonable acidity, and very decent depth. I'm hoping this bottle was a little bit off, as I had higher expectations.

Cloudy garnet color. Dazzling nose with smoky and flinty aromas, combined with the classic CVNE note of orange peel. The palate is similarly nuanced and multilayered, with the addition of spicy herbal flavors and dusty red fruit. With a bit of tannin remaining, I was surprised to find this lively and well-supported at age 30. Tasted against the 2001 Gran Reserva, this humble Cosecha outshone its noble sibling. Drink now, if you've any around.

Nose is big, obviously Rioja, dill, musty oak, black fruit, stemmy flowers. Palate also big but with the fruit, sweet dill, American oak obvious, blackberry stems, medium tannins are soft, medium plus finish, very savory style overall.

"Simple" Midweek Dinner - (Imperial Treasure, Asia Square) (Imperial Treasure, Asia Square): A bit too funky, but there was a lot to like about this if you could get past its stinkier aspects. The funk started on the nose. It was almost smelly at first, with layers of cheese and muddy sous bois and barnyard aromas that took quite a bit of time and air to start dissipating. It always retained a touch of that stink throughout the evening, but the greater part of it thankfully lifted off to show more classic Rioja aromas of dried cherries and plums spiced with some cloves and nutmeg and a little drift of cigarette smoke. Nice, if you can get through the funk. The palate had lovely, soft, velvety feel, with silken tannins and lovely fresh acidity caressing fine flavours of dried cherries and wild berries. These were again touched with earthy soil and meat notes, but it was nowhere near as funky as on the nose. It kept getting better all the time as well, with little whiffs of smoky spice coming out as the wine tapered into a gentle finish. For a Crianza, this actually felt very complete; very nice indeed but for all that funkiness..Time to drink up though – I do not think this will improve much in the bottle. NB: Make sure to decant it for a short while or pop it a couple of hours before serving to allow bottle funk to blow-off.

Beobachten.

I was pleasantly surprised by this wine. Usually if I wine gets 90 points from Parker, I won't like it. But this wine was delicious and satisfying from first sip to the last. Fruity, velvety, and well balanced if not terribly complex. Nice grip of soft tannins completes the finish...

A great sipper or weekday dinner wine.

It has a medium(+) body and medium(+) intensity flavours of red fruit (strawberry), dark fruit (dark cherry), pungent spices (liquorice) and oak (cedar, coconut). The finish is medium(+).

It is a very good quality wine. It has a perfect balance among all structural elements, concentrated flavours and a persistent finish. However a better example of this style would be more complex.

Can drink now, but it has enough tannic/acidic structure and fruit concentration to develop some tertiary aromas over the next 1-2 years.
