Notes from night 2.
N of strong red fruit, rosewater, funk, a herbs and forest loam, and some cinnamon spice.
P of red fruit, cherry, pomegranite, rosewater, funk, loam, spice.
The finish was long in length, typical mouthfeel for John's wines, really nice acidity.
Outstanding wine.

Drank over 2 days. Nose better on Day 2 than Day 1. On Day 1, this leaned a little bit too toasty, with the fruit in the background. Fantastic, bracing acidity kept things interesting though. Really shined on Day 2: a soft touch of vanilla/toast, citrus, salt, chalk on the nose. On the palate, beautiful, vibrant acidity, with more salinity and wet stone. Very clean finish.

Fantastic mix of fresh, bright strawberries and cherries, wrapped in a orange citrus bow. Dusting of stone fruit and herbal notes, and you've got a great drinking rose. Perfect change of pace for this dreary rain we've been experiencing.

One bottle left, hoping for an encore in 2015.

Interesting wine, as always. This vintage was a little riper and sweeter, perhaps a touch of rs? Tasted much better now (than late summer) since it's had time to settle down from bottling. Bubblegum, minerals, clove and other dark spices. Medium + body. Spicy bubblegum finish with a nice little savory quality. Maybe a hint of teaberry

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Rick's & Cris'): Aromas of strawberry, cranberry and cherry with spice and clay undertones. The fruit turns toward the darker side of the spectrum as it opens in the glass. Flavors of cherry and dark berry fruit, tobacco and spice with a long, balanced finish. Easy to pick out as Pinot, a couple thought CA but most of us guessed OR.

This and the Dundee Hills counterpart were the wines of the flight and showed very well (both opened approximately 30 minutes before the flight was poured), improving throughout the evening. Superb value at $27 delivered.

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Rick's & Cris'): Opens with notes of cherry, spice and tobacco. Initially a bit thin across the midpalate and through the finish, but with air it filled out nicely with plenty of cherry and red berry quaities. Has a dark streak running through it. Excellent.

I was very happy to see our bottle when this was revealed. Very nice, and no signs of brettanomyces, in any of its various strains, as others have mentioned.

Notes from day 2.
Nose of cherry, leather, forest floor, spice
Palate of red cherry, a hint of citrus fruit near the finish, leather campfire smoke, spice, little funk.
The finish was long in length, good acidity and tannin.
Overall another well made wine from Cameron.

It's been about 3 years since I last checked in on this wine. I have to say it's lovely. This is light bodied, high acidity, with a floral lift on the nose that sings of high-tones red fruits and roses and fresh tilled earth or forest floor. The palate is all cranberries, pomegranate, wild strawberries, and other high acid or tart red fruits. I think it would be best to check back in on this wine again in 2020. I have two bottles and will try my best to leave these alone. Outstanding!!

The Beaucastel of Oregon? The Brett funk is noticeable but of the complicating variety, not the band-aids and horse poo. It integrates with the floral and pomegranate notes into an elegant whole. Very young but fairly soft tannins. A sweet note persists compared to some other vintages.

Don't think I've ever tried this wine from Cameron before. Great combination of bold, ripe fruit and undertones of earth, salt, & florals. I didn't think this was overly complex, but, whatever. Pour me a glass anytime.

OROPEZA nailed it with the lemon candy note. There's some good complexity here that keeps my nose in the glass. Ripe fruits across the citrus to stone fruit spectrum, white flowers, and something yeasty in the background like foam on an IPA. Nice balance between richness and acidity on the palate. There is some RS on the palate that throws me off, not to say it's unpleasant, but it would leave me stunned to guess if blinded. It's kind of a weird wine, but delicious, and fun to drink.

Light orange-red. Best at cellar temperature. Subtle strawberry and light cherry aromas. Strong acidity with some tannins at the back. Seems to still be at the beginning of its drinking window. A serious rose that demands food.

Big Cameron fan, but first time with this Gehrts vineyard, and it's solid. Fresh, vibrant, full of tart cranberry, raspberry, strawberry, intertwined with tobacco, white pepper, pickling spices, grilled herbs. So fresh and bright but complex - seems to be in perfect form at this point - although, again, my first time with this wine. Won't be my last.

We gave it maybe five hours open in the bottle. Beautifully integrated, balanced flavors - barnyard funk, bright cherries, deep raspberries, citrus. Racy acidity, juicy mouthfeel... everything just lingers. This is drinking really well but no need to rush either.

Elegant in style, with excellent purity and flavor concentration. Light to medium in body with a nice core of fresh red cherry fruit, so fresh that there are some green edges, though it only adds to the appeal for me. Also shows good medium persistence on the finale. This has really improved over the last year. I'm probably going to give my last bottle some extended cellar time to see how it evolves. Another five years should be no problem.

Favorite rose this past year - such a great mix of sweet cherries, tart raspberries, orange rind and vanilla. Blends sweet and tart so well, with salty minerality and bright acidity. I hope this becomes a regular for John Paul.

This bottle was fantastic. at 5+ years of age it is is just gorgeous. Will develop more surely, but I'd say its just entered the drinking window.

As expected, the pairing was divine with a lobster roll. Terrific.

Interesting minerality from the process (it's essentially an orange wine from Pinot Gris). Has a nice richness and fruit to balance the mineral quality. I found this less extreme compared to the Monastero Rusticum 2011 I tried earlier this year. Would be interested in aging for a couple years.

Beautiful and perfumey nose with bright cherries and fresh strawberries, exotic spices and tea leaves, and hints of traditional Dundee Hills Pinot funk. Bright and elegant on the palate, with ripe raspberries and fresh blackberries bursting on the initial notes, giving way to deeper and darker tones of black cherries, fresh black peppercorn, and English black tea that are carried by a subtle and fine tannic structure. A long, elegant finish. A pretty wine!

Finishing up the remnants of Saturday's bottle. It is more open and bright, with a gorgeous lemon note followed by green apple and florals- honeysuckle and Lily of the Valley. Flavors of lemon, apple, stone, chalk, candied lemon peel and spice. Gorgeous. I should have gotten much more than a six pack. Screaming value. 92+ pts for me, 92 for Domino.

4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (Our house): Light color. Apple, honeysuckle and pear notes. Pear and honeysuckle follows through on the palate, adding a terrific minerality that lingers through the finish. Good underlying acidity.

Received very well by the group. I think most of the group thought Burgundy.
