2012 Cameron Blanc Clos Electrique

Oregon Chardonnay Blend, Chardonnay more

Yum, lovely young aromas of fresh cut apple, pear with citrus peel and wet rock notes. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with a round plush mouthfeel and tons of energy and verve. Get some toast, but not at all obtrusive. Really enjoy the acid and fruit interplay. An impressive wine.

Sunday Dinner at Formento's (Chicago, IL): There's something about this that kind of makes me think of a Jura chardonnay... not exactly sure why. Maybe it's the freshness coupled with just a very slight bit of funk. There's a honeyed pineapple quality about this wine that makes it a bit weird, but it's got good acidity and is pretty fun to drink. I'd be interested to see if it gains further complexity with aging, though I'm pretty certain it will.

Liked it a lot but a bit bigger than I expected. Better day two. Definitely want to try Cameron's other stuff now.

Decanted thru aerator and held for about an hour before drinking. This was really good. Solid character from nose. through mid-palate to finish.

Once again, basically a pop and pour. Very similar to last time: citrus, melon, good minerality and a hint of herbaceousness. Good acidity with nice body and good minerality. Excellent, especially for the price.

Wow, this was really, really good - absolutely prime from the first sip to the last. Brick-ish color, rich nose of dark fruit , oyster shell, and earthy spice. Resolved sweet tannins, cola, autumn leaves, smoke, black cap raspberries... the palate just won't quit. Long, seamless finish. Medium weight, balance, just beautiful.

Very nice for an Oregon white. I really like my whites with a lot of acid, and this was maybe not quite there, but overall very nice. Good for the price as well.

Very unique. Although pink, has the earthiness and depth of a regular OR PN, just lighter. Will hold remaining bottle until the end of the summer.

Excellent pinot for the money. We killed two on the night they arrived with guests and will be ordering more. Has a sense of funk and wildness which is all too rare in domestic pinot. Sneaky feeling this will lead me to spending up to the better cuvees.

Floral nose. Pear and mango in the mouth, stone / minerality towards the finish. Fun flavor dance. Probably the best white wine we've had so far this year. ++QPR, Bright, bold and complex. !!!

Second Sunday Group: 2003 vs 2005 Bordeaux 2nd Labels (R&D's): Opens with notes of cherry and perfume with a nice earthy undertone. The palate follows the bouquet. The fruit is bright and forward and there's just enough earth underneath to add a bit of depth.

Breathed in glasses around 30 min before serving. Dark ruby color with a lighter rim. The nose shows a strong earthy/forest floor note mixed with some dark red fruit. Medium to full bodied. A similar mix of fruit and earth on the palate. A strong acidic backbone adds some brightness & subtle tannins add complexity. Balanced & tasty, not the structure one thinks of with 2008 though.

Chardonnay, Pinot blanc, Pinot grigio. Restrained nose of orchard fruits, citrus, and savory crushed rock. Almost briny. Light and bright on entry, though it rounds out somewhat with citrus and raw honey flavors. Medium finish. Tasty.

Seems to have gained a little richness since last time, some nice hazelnut character coming through. Enjoyed with a quiche of asparagus, leek, and gruyere.

Had a dinner.
Really tight initially but improved very nicely with air, but will hold additional bottles for a while.
Nose minerals, peaches, honey, white team, minerals.
Palate apples, lemoncream, little honey, tea, and florals.
Went very nicely with the cheeses.

Urban Butcher (Urban Butcher - Silver Spring, Maryland): So young but beautiful. Per usual, an aromatic opus: golden apples, white peaches, honeycomb, white tea, chalk, crushed rocks, opens up a lot with air. Bright, singing acid matches the creamy texture. White peach, lemons, all sorts of apple slices, laced with nougat, honeycomb and green tea, exotic flower notes. Complex and intriguing but delicious and so easy to drink, despite its youth. I’d love to revisit this in five years.

This was one of the most wildly flawed bottles I have ever run across. Others have been fine but this smelled like skunk and was all agressive chemicals. So weird. One could reasonably ask why I tasted something that smelled like that but it was in the interests of science. Nothing against Cameron wines as I think they are a superb producer but this was beyond my experience with any wine from anywhere.

pop n pour. Followed over 4 hours.

This was a terrific rendition of 2012 vintage expression that balances the voluptuous slutty (and sometimes delish) 2012 vintage with typical prissy gorgeous OR character. Lots of primary fruit with spices, stems, dirt and probably dead beetles. Very minimal reduction in this wine.

Improved with air. (and a few points as well) Likely better with some lay down time, but not likely meant for a decade..

This reminds me a lot of the 2013 "Rhinestones" bottling from Bow & Arrow, also sourced at least in part from Johan Vyd. Cherries, tart strawberry, cedar, smoke, dried roses, pine forest floor, and subtle crimini mushroom. The palate is all ripe red fruit flavors, very pleasing acidity, and tannin that slides right along. Pretty easy drinking overall with great acid. Crushing it at $18.
