A very good spot for my pinot preference. Full fruit, but not fruity, good balance of tannin. Nice lingering taste.

Still tasting great and holding up well !!
Perfect cork, easily removed. This Pinot Noir is nicely balanced. Light purple in the glass with medium clarity. Aromas and flavors of pomegranate and cranberry with a medium to long finish. Aged well, I still have one more of this vintage year in my cellar to verify this tasting note. Fruit from a fabled Santa Lucia vineyard with great winemaking by Sean Capiaux.

I'm with Galloni on this one. consistently a favorite in the Capiaux Portfolio. Russian river fruit - 60% Starscape and 40% Widdoes. Ruby color, red fruits, oranges and spice on the nose. Lush fruits, great length, wet stones on the finish

This is a dense red and black fruited wine, black cherries, leather, vanilla. A classically styled Russian river pinot I gave this one hour slow ox, which it needed.

Still tasting great !! At peak !!
Perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle, easily removed. Dark burgundy in color with medium clarity. Consumed this balanced Pinot Noir over two days. Aromas of cranberry and pomegranate, with a touch Asian spice. Flavors of sweet red berries, black cherry cola, earth, and cinnamon with a medium to long mineral finish. This wine has aged beautifully and is at peak. I have no bottles of this vintage year remaining in my cellar. Great Pinot Noir fruit of Beringer clone from Dutton Ranch's "Widdoes Vineyard" is located between the towns of Graton and Occidental in the Russian River Valley appellation. Another great winemaking effort by Sean Capiaux.

Enjoyed with friends on a sunny Memorial Day afternoon - after visiting the National Cemetery.
It was austere at first and then opened up very nicely. Translation: this is a very good wine and still needs to be decanted. It was enjoyed by all, but then the wines of Sean Capiaux are all enjoyable.

Medium- bodied, traditional and modern styling, high quality natural cork.

Dark meaty Pinot Noir here, but not full-bodied or gamey. Fruit profile reminds a bit of Santenay with black and blue stewed elements, and dry herb garrigue tones like inland Sonoma such as Forestville. There is a smokiness that feels like wood-fired bird. While dark, the mentholated mid-palate gives it a refreshing lift that calls for another sip. Finish is mostly visceral - could expand a bit; and nose is fleeting, but no way is this wine unsatisfying. Expected good and got better.

Capiaux produces five vineyard-designate Pinot Noirs from Garys' Vineyard and Pisoni Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Wilson Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast, and Widdoes Vineyard and Freestone Hill Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. An additional Pinot Noir, Chimera, is a blend from Sonoma County.

Decanted for 2h, shorter would probably have been fine as well.
Brownish rims indicate 17a of age, the delicate palate does not!
Complex Pinot Noir, which hits all the right spots. Earthy-fruity (raspberry, cherry) notes meet smoked meat, smooth tannins, light oak, and old style spices. Long finish.
I doubt that this was much better in the last few years and that it will get any better, so drink up in the next few years!

This bottle had a 92p Tanzer sticker on it.

full bodied pinot; good with or without food. It improved with more air; so I am extending my window to 2026 although the people that say 2029 might be right

Aged nicely and opened up after about an hour or so. Definitely a Cali pinot but not overdone or over-extracted. Nice spice and a hint of white pepper on the finish. Good value. Crowd pleaser.

Some spice to the nose, but generally rather muted. Still dynamic flavor. Pepper and ripe fruit early. Spice and pepper linger quite a while. Some leather on the finish. Very enjoyable!

I tasted this at a neighbor's house in Newport Beach. At first I thought it to be a Cabernet Sauvignon from a hotter climate due to its color, intensity and ambiguous varietal characteristics, which is often indicative of Cabernet Sauvignons from such climates. Yet Pinot Noir has become so variable due to its many clones and growing areas that it's hard to discern sometimes exactly that it's actually Pinot Noir. I'm not a fan of over-the-top Pinots (such as this) but prefer the nuances of Burgundy. Nevertheless, this is a fine wine if you like this style of Pinot.

The wine looks rosy colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and cranberry. It tastes like strawberry, blueberry, raisin, cherry, plum and light toast. The body is light/medium. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. The wine has low acidity.
