Paired perfectly with spicy Chinese food but wasn't showing particularly complex characteristics. A touch flabby and maybe two-dimensional.

Ringing clarity. Immature. Excellent purity through the finish with no harshness whatsoever.

This has a nice nose of tangerine and herbs, but it's extremely delicate on the palate, bordering on dilute. Best drunk alone for a very lightweight experience, or paired very carefully with food.

Yellow color, not as deep yelow or golden as I would have expected.
Nose is of strong petrol with notes of golden delicious apple, pear and flinty minerality.
On the palate a honey type of sweet but not overly sweet, ripe pear, golden apple, minerality, all in nice balance with acidity.

Attractive nose of red apple and mint. The palate is lightweight with only a subtle sweetness remaining, but it feels a little loose, with the acidity only playing a secondary role on the back end. However, this didn't budge over two days in the fridge, so I'm inclined to think that it's still in its in-between stage and will emerge as a much more interesting wine with a little more bottle age.

Deep yellow. Beautiful aromas of white fruit, citrus. Fresh and tart with some secondary development eg honey, petrol. A fabulous kabinett--great now, but suspect will improve for some time--have to pace ourselves.

Oktoberfest: 2009 Germans (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Very beautiful and unique on the nose with savory sweet notes of crushed stones, meat, and citrus. The palate offers stunning density with excellent acid support and solid complexity. The flavors consist of apple, pear, and citrus with a firm underlying stoney spine. This is one of the better values from the tasting.

Maybe not quite the acid tang and salt I'd expect out of this vintage, but still divine. Needs another half dozen years if you insist on dryness.

Classic Schmitt-Wagner; fresh Mosel fruit and herbal notes over a bed of slate with the start of developing smoky and petrolly accents. Very gentle and elegant in the mouth with bright acids, conveying flavour with barely any sense of weight. Lovely.

Really disappointing given past experiences with this: starts out like a classic Mosel Riesling, full of apple and pear fruit and herbal notes over a bed of slate and gentle, understated sweetness, but with time the sulfur takes over completely and makes this a challenge to smell, let alone taste. Shame.

nose: nice and focused nose of green apples, pears, acacia flowers, ripe melons and a touch of citrus tones. Very good depth and not all that sweet on the nose even with it being an auslese

taste: delicious medium body with good medium+ acidity as well as tones of pears, green apples, minerals, citrus and bits of ripe melons. Well balanced with good depth as well

overall: AP # 18 02. a real tasty riesling that is Well balanced on both the nose and palate. While this says auslese it doesn't come off as one at all. There is a nice light gold color to this and it could certainly go a ways more, but its really tasty right now and has a real good and lengthy finish

Pretty much everything I'd want in a Mosel Riesling. Classical Mosel fruit - apple, pear and lemon - combined with fresh herbs, touches of earth and slate and gentle smoky and petrol notes that are just starting to emerge. It's one of those wines that needs some time and patience, unravelling its flavours with time rather than hitting you with everything in one shot, but the whole package is stunning with fantastic balance, precision, depth and length and I am glad I at least have two more bottles of this.

Remarkably for a BA (that too an '06!), this isn't a giant botrytis monument. It's more like a big Auslese, but even then the botrytis is very subtle and nicely woven into the other flavours. There's very rich peach, apple and yellow plum fruit with some honeyed and spicy notes, and the high toned herbal/sassafrass/earthy character I've always found in Schmitt-Wagner's other wines, which makes this feel like a real extension of his Spätlese rather than a dessert wine. Fantastic balance and depth, with really good acidity balancing the sweetness nicely, and I'm sure this will age stunningly - just wish I had more bottles of this.

I think I liked this better than the last bottle, consumed about a year ago. The usual aged riesling notes on the nose. Nice and long on the palate with a caressing streak of acidity waiting to carry the fruit through to the finish. The acidity balances really nicely with the fruit which seems to be dominated by green melon of all things... I don't have enough experience with this vineyard to make any sort of terrior proclamation... so I'll just leave it at that. Nothing earth shattering here, just a really elegant, well integrated bottle of riesling that has reached it's latter years in good form. Worth the wait.
