Wonderful nose of cassis, mixture of red/blue fruits and intricate spice components. In the mouth, wonderful texture and richness giving the wine a polished and sophisticated feel. A really great wine and I'm glad to have one more bottle. I agree with Loren's comment, very easy to drink and showing wonderful complexity at the same time. Delicious!

Amazing wine, forgetting the fact that it is also an outstanding value! Big, rich, unctuous, but never flabby or hot. Aromatics give away the use of mixed blacks, and the wine exhibits a beautiful, long finish. The alcohol adds body and is merely the vehicle for the fruit to glide. Herbs and flowers, earthy but "purple", a living wine that slowly unfolds more and more streamlined notes of blackberry, raspberry, and black cherry. Buy a lot of it, as there is nothing like it in its price category.

Nose: Fresh, floral aromas with dusty black fruits. Pretty complex nose for a base level bottling...but this is Carlisle. Palate: Great upon pop and pour with black fruits and spice. Also some vanilla traces present. Very solid base bottling from Carlisle.

Tasted over 3 days - consistent throughout (vacuvin'd and stored in fridge overnight). More open and rich than I thought it would be, given the character of other 2011 Carlisle's I've tried. An interesting red-fruited tartness to counter the richness. Drinking rather seamlessly at this point. Excellent Carlisle zin yet again.

Not sure if it was my palate, bottle shock, or an off bottle or what, but this bottle showed much better than the bottle I opened a couple of months ago. There was some subtle oak, and the wine as a whole was beautiful and expressive, showing a nice core of dark fruit and good balance and depth. Fantastic accompaniment to BBQ pork spare ribs.

Wow. First Carlisle ever after getting on their list and I was not disappointed. $20 is hard to belive the way this drinks. Took about an hour in the glass and decanter to really get going but then it really sang. Wish I bought more!!

My 1st ever Pagani Ranch from Carlisle. While thinking back to my last Pagini Ranch Zin's in the 90's mostly made by Ridge, this was everything I hoped for. Lush rich upfront fruit. Well balanced with a smidgen of spice. Yum!

With ribs and brats -- this was just an exceptional pairing and enjoyable drink. Bold nose of blackberry, spice, herbs and smoke. Fresh and juicy. Medium weight and precisely chiseled. Worked well with the smoked baby backs and beer brats and peppers. Plenty of life ahead, but I'm glad to have consumed my third and final bottle at a peak drinking window.

Tasted non blind.

Dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of light pepper notes, rich plums and raspberries. Flavors of raspberries, plums and mixed berries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.

Drank this alongside an '07 Chapoutier SJ Granits and it was an interesting comparison. The Carlisle (which I popped first) didn't come across as particular sweet or at all meretricious, until by comparison. Then I started to appreciate that its nose of blueberries, sarsaparilla, and dark berries was rather more forward than the Chapoutier. The palate the wine showed nice balance, moderate acidity and a touch of hoisin, but also a greater sense of sweetness. This is wine holding up and showing quite well (I am surprised to see 2013 as CT users' long stop date for this wine; it's in a great place now but I don't see it declining for another 3-4 years), and is a serious wine that both stands alone and plays nicely with food. The fact that it was different to Chapoutier's Granits should not suggest that it was inferior, only different.

Lots of primary fruit, fairly ripe, but balanced by abundant acidity. Love the field blend character of this wine. There are so many flavors going on throughout the palate. My first taste of a Two Acres bottling and I'm not disappointed, though I think this will really improve with a few years on it at least.

very light on the aromatics. Tried a few different glasses. The subtle aromas were nice, I just wish the volume was turned up. On the second night the nose woke up a bit with fruit and spice. Tasting note is, "delicious". Full throttle without being overbearing. Black cherries and citrus works well with the oak. Great stuff.

Upon opening the aromas are burnt rubber/reduced. Also candied dark fruits. The palate hits full throttle and is massive. Some delicate raspberry fruit. Mouth coating and sweet. No tannins. 15.8% but I didn't notice any heat. Did not intentionally keep this one so long but it happened. Better in its youth but we enjoyed it for what it is now.
