Big wine. Full, deep, and rich. Still relatively primary but drinking very well. Definitely in its drinking window. Nose was full of very ripe berries as was the palate. Good showing.

J'avais misé ma grand-mère sur ce vin que c'était un SuperTuscan...
Me suis fait solidement berné !
Poivron vert, fruits noirs, cassis, bleuets, un boisé bien intégré et une touche de vanille.Café noir.
Une belle surprise !!

A whole lot of wine for the price. Bold, gripping, and substantive. Varietally correct, with Chilean terroir accents. Well structured, great finish. Excellent QPR. 89-90.

Great, as always. Deep, rich...but with supple tannins and great balancing acidity. Typical aromas of "bourgeons de cassis" with slight notes of tar. Always one of my favorites.

Fabulous... Waited till it was a decade old and was not disappointed. Powerful red that could have easily aged another decade. Decanted for an hour and paired with Provençal skirt steak with ratatouille and roast baby potatoes. French fajitas to go with South American Bordeaux.

Again...underrated in every way. Not past prime at all. This is dark, dense, full of blue and red fruit. Vine and some tobacco tones. Soft mid-palate. A little shallow on the finish but well integrated.

Great nose, plums, very smooth tannins, even at this young age, blackberries, some oak but balanced, some acidity. Merlot, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot. [had at Grand Marnier dinner (they own the winery)]

Scents of fresh tarragon, including that slight vanilla note, cinnamon, tobacco, and rain soaked blue berries rise from the glass.

Soft and generously supple, the entry immediately draws me to a memory of a particular Carmenere's smoothness from years ago. Funny how wines can do that.

The soft and smooth entry gradually reveals finely grained tannins, even as the blue and black fruits give way to dark and bitter notes of barely sweet chocolate. The medium bodied juice segues to notes of vanilla and stale, weak cinnamon and tobacco on the lengthy finish.
There's a relative fine-ness to this wine, but the mid palate seems to lack real presence and body. Perhaps it's a bit closed and will bloom with some more bottle age. Good flavor, texture, and tasty enough, just not a real show stopper.

Not sure where thus wine is heading. Plenty of tannin and thick tar flavours abound, but fruit is quite fleeting. Needs food (rare steak?). A surprisingly good combination was with chocolate!

3rd Deals Gastronomy Fair; 3/29/2015-3/30/2015 (Grande Bretagne Hotel, Athens): The nose is clean, medium intensity, there is a strange green/stalky and almost Sauvignon Blanc feeling to it, with some ripe fruit getting in the way, hazelnut bits all over.
The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, medium acidity, med+ alcohol (14.5%), more oak in the palate almost overpowering, almond and walnut, ripe apricot, needs time to settle and come together, med finish.
Very good quality, drink now or hold

The wine is dry, medium body and intensity, acidity feels quite high, grassy and vegetal, almost unripe fruit with a strange acidity ruining balance, it feels disconnected altogether, stalk-y med finish.
Good quality, has to be inexpensive or cheap, drink now.

At the PEF dinner at our house. This was a fun addition, having purchased at the winery in Chile that week stuffing in my luggage. Had not had the Chardonnay from this producer previously.

Medium gold color. If tasted blind I would have guessed a cross between a Corton Charlemagne and high end California. Creamy vanilla and citrus, burnt suger, creme brulee, butterscotch. Really nice stuff and, when purchased at the winery, an incredible QPR. Not sure how accessible this is in the US - comparable to the best of CA Chards...

A very deep purple colour shows this wine will still improve with age. Blackcurrant, coffee, and cedarwood on a pronounced nose. High acidity and tannin, despite a medium body. The flavours are well-integrated with the tannin. Only downside is that the finish fades a tad too quickly.

Another brilliant bottle of this spectacular wine. Hard to reconcile the power of the aromas and flavors with the price point, as this wine resounds with a force and impact that I have normally experienced with offerings costing exponentially more. The tannic presence of this particular bottle, however, suggests a longer drinking window lies ahead for the 2009 than the first two bottles of this vintage we have shared since December 2014. I am seeking more of this wine in different vintages as I continue to be compelled by its beautifully beguiling yet seductive charisma.
