Decanted for 30 minutes before pouring. Deep dark ruby red color. Essence of spices, bell peppers, cocoa, caramel, mint and coffee. Nice layers of bing cherries, chocolate, licorice, figs and toast. Very long finish with nicely harmonized acidity and tannins. This wine has a couple more years before it plateaus.

Not a bad wine. Just not a great wine. Not nearly as oaky as I was afraid. Fairly balanced and clean with typical cassis, dark fruit profile. Some red fruit too. Just not a wow wine.

US Cabernet Sauvignon: Wonderful depth to the fruit, forest floor, fresh, some camphor, a bit over the hill. Decent complexity, still somewhat unbalanced.

A semi-sweet white blend with enough standout flavor to give it some distinction. It was a decent table wine to share with friends.

Dark inky purple. Strong aroma immediately upon open. Bold and silky smooth, but very much fruit driven. Pretty much just jammy blackberry and blueberry. A little sweet. Enjoyable and decadent, but would have liked a little more complexity.

Deep purple in color with big flavor to match. The nose is full of oak, vanilla, black berries, and plum. The acid is well balanced and the alcohol is obvious both on the nose and mouth. The mouth has nice round tannins with a long finish. Hints of mint, vanilla, and plum make this a nice wine, however the abundance of oak made it less than perfect.

This is a spectacular wine from Caymus. We paired it with grilled ribeye steaks after a 3 hour decant. Dark, dark red to black in color. After the long decant, the tannins were very smooth. Very fruit forward with chocolate over tones. A little on the sweet side for high end cab, but that really appealed to my guest's palate. Two of the commented that it was the best wine they had ever tasted.

Beautiful bouquet with chocolate, coffee and sweet licorice. On the palate mature impressions with chocolate, sweet spices like cinnamon, some coffee and also still some dark fruits, Good red fruit acidity and soft tannin. The wine is completely ready now.

Tasted like a 20 year old Bordeaux. Musty, dusty, wet basement, wet cedar notes throughout out. It was ok. It couldn't handle the competition it had on the table.

Dark red, aromas of raspberries and cherries. Definite hint of straw in the flavor profile. Nice finish, with soft tannins that give it with both structure and balance. Argentina Malbec grapes, the wine created at Caymus in Napa, totally different from any Malbec we have ever experienced. Hard to get our heads around this one!

Pnp; medium purple in appearance. Nose of semi-jammy blackberries and cassis with some hints of blueberries and violets. On the palate, there are blue fruits, vanilla, and some darker oaky berries with some mocha-like notes. Tannins calmed down after an hour; I should've decanted. Medium+ bodied with a medium finish. Can probably use some cellar time.

Smoooooth. Decanted and let breathe for 30-45 mins. Typical fruit for caymus but nicely balanced. Really enjoyed, seems to be a wine meant to drink fairly young.

WHEW. OK. Got some? Good. You shoulda got more. :-) Here's the EPIC story of this lucky break: First off, we'd like to give a shout out to Napa Valley--- we love you! If we didn't live here (and grow up here), you probably wouldn't get these one-of-a-kind wines and deals we so cherish. OK. RED SCHOONER! What Caymus did was THIS --- they went to Argentina. They found high-end, high-elevation vineyards of the BEST grape there -- Malbec. They brought them back to Caymus (cool, right??) here in Napa, and crushed them and made the wine in the much-loved Caymus style. BIG, bold, and sexy. Then they let it chill out for a few years (this vintage is 2010, although they can't put that on the label....more on that below) in French oak and rested it at the winery until they felt it was ready. Then WE got to work getting some. The wine, Red Schooner, is clearly going to be a part of the Caymus repertoire of international wines. This one, the DEBUT, is a TINY amount -- and you are finding it here first at Last Bottle. Because of wine labeling laws, the bottle cannot bear a vintage or other information we're used to, because the grapes literally came from another country. Those guys at Caymus are adventurers, man!! So -- think of this as a $75+ Malbec. Think of it as a gorgeous, powerful, crazy-good Malbec. Think that Caymus lushness and mouth coating texture married with high-elevation, Andes Mountains Malbec. SO cool! Dense blueberry, chocolate, leather, purple flowers and huge, rich mid-palate...not overly done but still insanely drinkable, soft tannins and a long, juicy, spicy finish. A MUST for Caymus fans...this is so rare and unusual...and delicious...you cannot go wrong!!!! Lastly ------- if you actually read this far without buying any.....hurry up!!

Creosote aromas with rich flavors of licorice, tar, blackberries and menthol and fine integrated tannins. At this early stage, one might confuse this for an over-extracted fruit bomb, but the tannins, depth and length of this wine are indications of a wine for the cellar that will evolve in time. Best from 2019-2040
