St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend more

Luxurious bouquet with concentrated dark forest fruits and exclusive oak. On the palate it all comes back. Luxury in a bottle. Loads of cassis and chocolate. Concentrated wine. After tasting this I bought a few, so there will be a follow up, but probably not before 2018. Can last until well into the 2020’s.

Made with fruit pulled from vines that are over 100-years old, this wine pops with licorice, dark red fruits, limestone and earth. Fused with fresh-brewed espresso and cocoa, this full-bodied, lustfully textured vintage finishes with smooth, fresh red and black berries. Produced from a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 14% alcohol. 91-93 Pts

Fleshy, ripe and round with a profile of anise, black cherry, oak and cocoa, this wine is forward, smooth and delivers fresh black cherries in the finish. 100% Merlot, this vintage comes from vines that average 50 years of age -- quite amazing when you consider how little the estate charges for the wine. 89-91 Pts

Decanted a good 8 hrs. and consumed over two days. This was a tasty little surprise for a couple of reasons: first, it was a very well made wine that has coasted into its 15th birthday with ease, Second, I think for the first time in a long while, I finally drank a true St. Emilion that actually tastes like a Bordeaux instead of a high polished, New World clone. Just for reference, i have had precious few right bank wines over $50, so the sample size is small to be sure, and what i have had, nothing has really grabbed my attention. The wine was darker that its typical left bank cousin, it still had that lightness and freshness on the palate, firms up a little in the middle, and a slow winding, leisurely finish. It also had a more smoky element than I am used to from Paulliac or St. Estephe, thecfruit profile was more plum vs. cassis or dark cherry. A life changer, no, but this was well made and a real treat to drink.

Opaque with deep ruby garnet color, drank with dinner out of Riedel Vinum Bordeaux stems. Medium pronounced nose dominated by fruit, herbs, toasted oak and earthiness. Medium to high acid levels with full body. Palate is in line with nose with cassis, plums, chocolate, leather, tobacco, wet leaves and earthy mushroom.. This wine possessed medium finish.. with medium tannins. Drinking quite well now.. Outstanding

Really nice nose of dark fruits, oak and hints of spice. Tannins pretty well integrated with just a bite of tannins on the medium finish. This to me is drinking exceptionally well right now and I see for no rush to drink. Very enjoyable.

Dark red, almost black, at the rim - slight whiff of alcohol on the nose. Medium to full bodied, quite dense on the palate, deftly judged acidity, quite hefty tannins - not much sign of the fruit or aromatics: I think that this wine has closed down since the last time I tased it. Leave for another year and try again in 2016.

Popped and poured, drank very well right from the start. Might have got a little better after an hour. Was well liked by everyone at the party. After being opened and poured for 5 hours --3 liter bottle-- it seemed, at least to me, to become somewhat harsh(was the last 10% of the bottle) so I think it is as good as it ever will be and should be consumed over the next year or so.

Starting to show well as it approaches its tenth birthday, licorice, earth, black cherry liqueuer and wet earth scents open to a round, soft, smooth, concentrated wine with a rich, fresh, black and red plum finish. Made from a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the vines average close to 100 years of age.

Decanted 3 hours -- great nose, typical St Emilion, but the taste was a little watery and loose. Vacuumed it, and on day two it was wonderful. Smooth, bold and tannic. This has some spark to it.

Nothing great. Very simple, typical Merlot wine. Not distinctly from Bordeaux. Spicy, fruity, medium flavors.

100% merlot, unfined, unfiltered; very dark red almost black; fruity nose of very dark berries; powerful and broad bodied, some tannins, non-Bordeaux like (14.5%), limited depth, no complexity, a bit too overcooked, but nevertheless likeable for easy drinking - if you like power, more "Spanish" than Bordeaux

Dark red! Very deep nose of newly purchased leather bag! Very young and tannic on the palate, mouthful of red fruits! Need a good few years to age!

A solid 100% merlot Bordeaux for the price. We liked it more than the 05, which we drank our last bottle of a week earlier. The 06 was very smooth and had a richer fruit profile. Drinking very well right now

Still needs some time. Give it a 2-3 years and it should be great. Slight minerality to it, though that may be due to the tannins.

Oaky with juicy black raspberry and black cherry, the wine offers sweet fruit, balance and round textures but with a little bit too much oak. Aging in 100% new French oak, the wine is comprised of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and reached 13.7% alcohol. Only 200 cases were produced in this difficult vintage. 90-92 Pts

With a nose of boysenberry, licorice, coffee bean and cocoa, the wine is fleshy and fun. It’s going to be easy to drink on release. Produced from 100% old-vine Merlot, this remains one of the top value wines of the Right Bank. 89-91 Pts

Good depth of black cherry, cassis, a little cocoa, and a touch of cigar box now. A notch better than 2/13 bottle. Big for a merlot from anywhere. Still a crazy buy, good luck finding some!
