Almost full bodied, hedonistic, nice fruit, clearly the best Trois Croix I ever had!

Flowers, licorice, black cherries and espresso pop with no effort in the nose. The palate is even better with layers of fresh, sweet, crisp red fruits, touch of salt, plums and a hint of chocolate on the backend. Drink from 2024-2036.

Agreeing with MTC2's tasting notes, I also tasted a hint of leather. Balanced and mature.

Tasted like bloody steak rubbed in french herbs right after opening. That mellowed out after a bit of time to breath in the decanter revealing mushroom, red fruit, and some vegetal notes. I really enjoyed this. One of the most aged wines I've tried. Makes me want more.

Expected more from a 2016 Bordeaux, quite thin, strong acidity. Unbalanced and not the most pleasant.

Medium to deep ruby. Nose brings back immediate memories of a Keys wine tasting: cinnamon, black fruit, cassis. Decant for thirty minutes; it opens up nicely. Full bodied, medium acidity, good grip, but nothing extraordinary. Earth(?), oak, and smoke on the front through the finish. Maybe some Christmas spices too. (Final).

Sehr viel Wein fürs Geld bekommt man hier, Kauftipp. (Verkostet "En Primeur" im April 2023 / Grand Cercle / Château la Dauphine) #primeurs22 www.vvWine.ch

Perhaps it is the strong mineral essence that gives this wine its unique character. You find it in the nose, which also offers flowers, red pit fruits, and smoke. The wine is round, and polished, and will easily seduce you with its layers of fresh red fruits, salty tannins, and mildly savory edge in the finish. You can drink this young, or age it for more complexity. Drink from 2023-2037.

Pleasing. Simple, well-made table wine. Lots of sour cherry. A bit unround, but still ok to drink. The finish is very thin.

Soft, round and velvety. Little complexity, but still an appealing nose with cassis, prune and strawberries. Flattering on the palate with a pleasant residual sweetness.

First bottle from case. Two+ hours decant but still way too young, however, deep ripe plum evident behind tight tannins. Hold on other bottles til, say, autumn 2024.

(at Pietro Prime - West Chester) Very satisfying wine. Deeply colored garnet. Dark plum, licorice and a bit of glue on the nose. The palate is more precise with good acidity mixed in with the fullish fruit profile. Lacking complexity and the stuffing to make it special. That said, a full mouthful of Bordeaux for uncritical dinner drinking. (88)

I feel like this could have gone a while yet, and even improved. Nose tight still - blueberry, blackberry, olive. Palate still quite tannic, good fruit, roast meat, but not overdone. Yes, it's a tad warm for my palate - but no California oriented glop. Rustic, even smoky. Burly. But right for appelation. Not precisely in love, but I respect a lot, and like it.

Black cherries and roses with a touch of chocolate-dusted, black raspberries create the nose. Medium-bodied, with a bright, salty, fresh, crisp, savory edge to the red pit fruit and licorice notes tasted in the finish. Drink from 2024-3033. 89-91

Prior bottle was almost 14 months ago and this wine has improved more than I had anticipated in that time. Black cherry, blackberry and earth notes on the nose with the vanilla now a more balanced background note. Medium bodied with the same mix of black cherry and blackberry as prior bottles, but with noticeably more nuance. As this wine has opened up, the fruit notes have taken on extra dimensions. The softer black cherry has opened up and contrasts well with the brighter black cherry while the blackberry has both darker, deeper notes that almost get to plum as well as higher and brighter notes. These elements are tied together with tannins and acidity on the backside that have improved balance with the fruit. Minerals, earth and spices make up the finishing notes with the mineral qualities perhaps taking on slightly more prominence. Overall, this wine has come together better than I'd hoped and in a fashion it should be able to maintain for several more years.

Last of my 12 bottles bought en primeur. It has been such an interesting journey to follow this wine that was one of the "big, small wines" of 2005 in Bordeaux. In many ways it ended on a high note - perfectly mature now. Still very dark and dense, but more in balance now than previously.
