BORDEAUX 2005 / Graves reds and whites tasted in 2006 (Bordeaux): Peanut brittle nose, recalling #5 but palate here is a bit cloying, if candy-like; almost like a watermelon sour ball! This is OK, and will perhaps improve with time in barrel. 88-90

BORDEAUX 2005 / Graves reds and whites tasted in 2006 (Bordeaux): Subtle nose of spice, some ripe plum. Attack is supple, soft as are the tannins. Flavors of milk chocolate and not at all big, rather polite. Odd notes of nail polish make me wonder about the time of malolactic fermentation. Nice overall. 87-91

Medium indigo in color. A musty earthy nose. Some jammy dark fruit on the palate but outweighed by minerals and slate. Good QPR. Starting to open a bit.

Lean, mineral, better with food than on it's own.

This is gross; its completely marred by new oak. No gravel, no fruit, just oak. Its too bad because this had really nice acids underneath what little of the fruit wasn’t being drowned out by oak.

Roasty nose,
Firm and fresh with nice structure
Then quite a bit of vanilla-laced new oak at the end
Good fruit but find the oak a little jarring

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (M/M thelostverse): Not giving much in terms of the bouquet- generic and nondescript. Some citrus on the palate, but not much else. Picked up a subtle grassy note as we began discussing these, so guessed Sauv Blanc by default.

Easy drinking with hints if oak and smooth tannis. Not much of a body or the minerals that characterize the region. Drink now

Blind tasting of 2011 and 2012 red Bordeaux. Ripe red fruit, cherries, quite sweet, oaky, cough pastilles. On the palate not a lot of depth and a little rough and drying. 86-88

After half a case, this is surprisingly coming into its own. Very elegant and restrained. Nicely balanced. Not too fruity. Have nine years age. Garnet in color.

Brought to Juniper. Surprisingly better than previous bottles. Had with gnocchi and mushrooms. Still tannic on the finish. Could possibly age with a few more years.

Heady nose with black currents the primary scent. Smooth fruit with plum and chocolate evident. Longish finish with some tannin, feels like it would do well with a short term sleep but pleasant today.

Dominant toasty oak and clove with notes of black cherry, mineral and bell pepper. Elegant wine with firm tannins and flavors of dark berry, oak and some pepper. It is still quite young and the flavors not well integrated.

Revisiting Graves (Vinexpo, Bordeaux): Here an example of a pleasing white Graves. 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon. Streamlined. Citrus driven, lime like. Medium bodied with a medium finish, that borders on tart. Have it with oysters.

Revisiting Graves (Vinexpo, Bordeaux): Did not get a chance to taste en primeur in April, and so I can happily report that this estate is making fresh and frank reds that do not hurt your wallet in the least. Medium bodied, marked by pleasing red fruit and fine tannins, it ends with a lifting medium finish, albeit a touch tight. I suspect barrel aging will make it come together nicely.

Stony nose with a bit of lime. Tastes of sweet Meyer lemons and barely ripe pineapple. Soft, supple texture. Decent acid and would be a fantastic wine were it not for the 13% alcohol. Noticeable. Dry finish.

Gave this around 45 min of air before serving. Dark violet with a red rim. Straightforward Bordeaux aromatics. Black currant, cedar, tobacco. Medium to full bodied. This is 50-50 Cab Merlot. A mix of plums, currants & dark cherries accented with mocha & cedar. Again, showing excellent typicity, no spoof. Mild tannic structure. Very enjoyable.

Mature characters, leather, dark berries, well balanced acidity, dying fruit, a bit tired but not dead, drink now.

Small amout of deposit, consider decanter
