There was something nasty and weedy in the nose and flavors that I have never encountered before and hope to never find again. I'm assuming that it had to be a flaw because no winemaker would put his name on it, no negotiant would buy it, no importer would import it, and no retailer would attempt to foist it on an unsuspecting public in this condition. Yeah, right. But on the plus side it threw a nice sediment.

This is normally quite a nice wine, but the scoundrel who consigned this lot to WineBid, willing to pass the fruits of his inept storage onto somebody else, really deserves not to drink another glass of wine in his life. I wish WineBid and other such auction sites would have a rating system on consignors, so you could know you were buying from a trustworthy or a sleazy source. This guy would get zero stars.

At Emirates lounge. Dark garnet lightening to the rim. Dark fruit and wood spices on the nose. Some dark fruit on the palate but perhaps a bit closed as it's not showing that much at this point in time. Medium (-) tannins. Slight bitterness towards the finish. Hold. 88+

Gourmetklubbens tjugoåttonde middag hos P+H (Tema: Lättlagat); 1/21/2016-1/22/2016 (Södermalm): Very expressive nose showing pepper, perfume and blackberries in a mature style. Nice blackberry fruit on the palate. Drinking very nicely right now.

Very nice wine, it's in a good place right now. Perfectly balanced, good fruit and acidity, short finish. It went perfectly with our Italian dinner.

Still quite austere, but it has good concentration, weight, and character. Nice brambly blackberries on the nose, palate, and into the finish. Will be best after 2018.

First bottle of a half case. Pnp through a Vinturi. This was accessible shortly after pouring. Lots of sediment in the bottle. This had aromas of dried herbs, light note of mocha, cedar, tobacco leaves, and currant. On the palate the tannins are well integrated and dusty. The flavor profile is dominated by the secondary flavors of cedar, tobacco, smoke, and some coffee in the finish. Good drive through the finish with some lingering smoke and iron. Solid overall and at $30 this is a solid value. I don't feel rushed to drink my remaining bottles based on tonight's performance.

Nice muted nose of blackberry and wood. Fleshy in the mouth but quite dry with serious tannins showing through on aftertaste. Popped and poured - should open up nicely with some air.

Quite surprisingly good! Darkest Red colour with violet rim. On the palate very smoky with Word and leather supported with black fruit. Pretty good and almost noble. Nice.
But on day 2 it is quite visible that the balance is not that good as on day 1.

Wow. WOW. I bought this from Premier Cru for $19 (it was in stock, fyi) a couple months ago, which I mention because I don't know how it was stored. Let decant an hour, and then: surprise! It is fully mature already, with secondary characteristics galore. It's absolutely delicious and performs so crazily, unexpectedly beyond what you'd expect from a cru bourgeois that I'm quite stunned. It reminds me very much of a 2000 Bon Pasteur, only more developed -- which is weird, right? YMMV, but if you got yours from PC this year, drink up.

Mature and full nose. Good depth. Dense and smokey with plums, liquorice, barnyard and tobacco. Tertiary notes of leather and meat stock. Quite complex and also a whiff of freshness.
Medium-fullish palate with fully melted tannins. Nice dark fruit, tobacco, cedar, plum, gravel and smoke. Slightly astringent and a tiny bit bitter in finish.
At twenty years of age, this was considered a good performance for such a basic Pomerol.

I recently read an article that rates the 2011 Bordeaux vintage at this stage of its development as an adolescent; surly and uncommunicative. Despite this warning, I decided to try a bottle anyway and got the full force of teenage angst. A closed nose and palate, this wine gave nothing away. I can only hope that time will aid its development. In the meantime I think I'll start on the 2012s.

2005 Chateau Plince is dark and smoky with tobacco leaves, black pepper, and cherry juice. Good dose of acidity and low alcohol (13% on the label) give it brightness and a charming personality. This was fantastic after 30 minutes (91 points quality), but it became weak and skim-milky with another 30 minutes after that. (87 points quality)
I don’t think this should be decanted. It was somewhat drinkable on the second day, but if you can, finish it on the first day.
