Popped and poured. This is a medium gold wine, with notes of daffodil and a sunny lawn on the nose. In the mouth, this is waxy and somewhat large, with a talc element and a twang on the finish. Overall, this is kind of meh -- the nose, mouth, and finish are all good, but nothing is noteworthy. 87 points.

Some oak mixed with citrus fruit, honey, whool and butter in the smell. Great concentration and a long long after taste that reflects the smell. Outstanding wine. Will it develop further?

Opened nicely after an hour but I'd recommend several hours of decanting. Dense fruit, alcohol and minerality. Big but balanced and clearly young and contained. Best to keep for several years but you can indulge in it now and not feel guilty.

I liked this, but it wasn't as good as when I had it 18 months ago. For some reason the alcohol stuck out a bit for me this time around. Good rocky/minerally flavors though and good mouthfeel.

It's been about a year since we opened a bottle of this. Decanted it this time, and it really hit its stride after about 2 hrs open. Much better than the previous bottle. Black cherries and some liqueur with hints of vanilla, char, violets and a bit of alcohol (the alcohol was more apparent when the bottle was opened). Full bodied with good acidity and more dark sweet cherries on the palate. I really liked the pepper on the finish; this is still fairly tannic. It will be interesting to see what my last bottle looks like.

The winery lists this as 15% ABV, while the bottle lists this as 14% ABV. 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre.

Fruit forward. Some pepper/spiciness on the back end, was enjoyable young but probably better ages a bit more. Classic Grenache blend.

This was very enjoyable but quite primary. It was still a bit tight after a 2 hour decant. Grainy tannins that could use a little time. Raspberry and some darker fruit flavors along with a very nice streak of minerality. Good, but it will be a lot better in a year or two.

After the initial oakyness had blown away an outstanding wine was revealed. Great concentration, perfect balance, very long taste and nice mouthfeel. The smell was of citrus-stone fruit with a nice touch from the oak. This was also reflected in the taste. After two days of storage in the fridge most of the charm was gone so it might be a good idea to drink this soonish.

A bunch of CdP on a Saturday Afternoon (Loretta Paganini School fo Cooking): I had not seen this label before but Jeff K assured me it is still part of Cuvee Vatican. This is another 2010 that is drinking very well. The nose has black raspberries, spice, floral qualities, blueberries and licorice. On the palate, this is opulent and juicy. The acidity is welcome with the food. Another large but just delicious wine. Black raspberries, plums and blueberries with some oak/vanilla showing but not obtrusive. Long finish. Great wine.

Bright deep ruby. Classic Granache bouquet with pepper and spice on top of broad fruit. Sneaky tannins aren't immediately prominent, but add complexity at the back. Somewhat fruit-forward; enjoyable young but has some length. Attractive.

Day 1: The nose was a bit closed, but on the palate this was fairly jammy and chewy (not entirely positive). The finish was fairly tannic.

Day 2: This is a completely different wine. The wine isn't so jammy. The complexity has picked up, with nice violets on the nose, some nice acidity and dark fruit with some heft. The tannins have softened as well, but the acid or alcohol leaves a tiny bit of bite on the finish.

Day 4: Didn't finish this on Day 2, so there was one glass left today. Pulled out of the fridge around 6pm and poured a glass around 10pm. Still getting a bit of alcohol on the nose, and the tannins and acid are both holding up; if anything the tannins seem a little more foreceful today and stick around for a long while. The nose is quite similar to last time. This seems like it has a long life ahead of it...

I find this wine a little tough right now. The tannins are grainy to the point of distraction. There are layers in every dimension here, and it is conceivable that given ample time the elements will come together in a spectacular way ,but I just can't connect with this wine in its current state, which surprised me given how approachable a lot of the 2010 CdP's are.

Quite tannic and closed, but shows promising notes of rose petal, potpourri, and rich red berry fruit. Needs quite a few years to develop but looks promising, especially for the price.
