Pop and pour through the aerator, no waiting. In the glass: Deep garnet, slow fat legs. On the nose: Hot spice, liquorice, whiff of plum, charcoal & wood. In the mouth: Med/full mouth feel, good concentration of the nose, some dry tannins in the middle, weenzy bitter on the finish. Nice.

Took an hour plus to begin to open up. First impressions were how lean and acidic it was. That has since changed. Violet aromas with black currant and blackberry underpinnings. Softer and round on the palate, with a dusty quality right through the center of the tongue. Black fruit and a hint of anise on the fairly lengthy finish. A happy evolution to be sure.

Forward with a licorice and sweet cherry character, this tasty wine is already approachable and should deliver pleasure on release. 87-89 Pts

Similar to previous notes. A good but not great St. Emilion served with grilled flat iron steak last night. Did not decant. Initial nose of cassis, cedar, blackberry and spices, a bit short in the mid-range, and some tannins and a bit of bitterness in the finish. The bitterness diminished after an hour or so. Wine is certainly in its drinking range and should hold and possible improve for 5 years or so.

Mid red colour. Green pepper on nose and taste along with some lead pencil. Medium body and length. Good balance with the acid. Maybe slightly thin but classic claret.

Dark core with medium plus extraction, lighter garnet rim; mix of red and dark fruit on the nose, licorice, melted down fruit, awkward, ripe, blueberry, modern; lots of spice on the palate, clove, higher alcohol, lighter seemingly superficial structure; not great.

OK. Balanced, but that's about it. Disappointing as more was expected.

Deep garnet core, ruby rim. Strong aromas of rich dark fruit with integrated hints of forest and minerality. Round, full body fruit from Merlot tangles with the brambleness of the Cab Franc. Mild tannin, medium acidity, lasting finish. Still has time to improve.

Consumed over two nights in Riedel Vinum glass. Day 1, spicy black fruits and some bell pepper; quite tannic and without much structure. Day 2, slightly better as the tannin had dissipated/integrated with some oxidation. Wine was still fresh, however. Hold for a couple of years and see how this evolves.

No real notes. Red garnet, red berries, fairly high acidity, some oakyness and tannins, spices. Has a lot of potential but must age for the different components to become better integrated. Should be better than the current 87 after 3-5 more years.

Very dark red/purple color. Coravined into glasses, drank 1+ glass over 75 minutes. Needs a little glass time to open. Lots of cedar and licorice front the nose bolstered by loads of very dark fruit, blackberry, blueberry, and some charcoal. The palate has firm drying tannins, blackberry, cassis, and black plum, wood spice, licorice, dark chocolate, and some dry earthiness toward the back end. This has some nice layering to the palate and attractive dark fruits. The tannins while firm are just short of being aggressive. The fruit and tannins suggest that this can go for at least 2-3 more years. It may soften just a bit too. 89+pts.

Beautiful bouquet with cassis and dark forest fruits and beautiful oak. On the palate ripe dark forest fruits, some chocolate, good acidity and soft and round, but still powerful tannin. Beautiful balance, good complexity and length. Beautiful wine which probably needs at least until 2017 to show its real beauty. 91+ for tonight.

Very ripe fruit on the nose. Cherries, plums, almost cooked fruit. Round on the palate with a touch of heat. Medium+ body, with a medium- acidity. Decent length and intensity. Tried just quickly so won't rate, but wasn't very impressed.

PnP with 1 hour decant. Nose of ripe red fruit and chocolate, but with little aromatic complexity. Silky on the palate. The tannins a little too prominent right now, but perhaps would soften with a longer decant. Medium finish. Excellent QPR here, and I would expect it to only improve over the next 5 years as the tannins become more integrated.

Black/red at the rim - tannins more resolved than my last note 2 years ago, better knit and now quite pure and just fresh enough - really quite pleasureable at this age. Not sure whether to put the difference from the last bottle down to age or bottle variation.

Nothing offensive but nothing special. Still some tannin left. A bit thin and a tad too acidic for my taste but the fruits are still there. Everyday wine maybe? Cooking wine?

Nose of plums and spices, soft round tannins in the mid-range and a moderate finish. Served with grilled ribeye steak. This is a good, but not great wine. Like many of the 2006's it seems to be a bit short in the mid-range. Still, a nice wine for a weekend. Should keep for 5 years or so.

Deep crimson to ruby color. Aromas of dark fruit, smoke, and light herbs. Medium to full body, pretty bright acidity, and medium+ finish. Flavors of dark red, black, and blue fruit, along w/ a complicating note of smokey oak. Enjoyed it after dinner tonight, but would be good w/ a grilled steak. Tannins are moderate--it's approachable now even on the pop, but I think can go 2-5 more years.

See also my previous note. Tried another bottle and left two glasses in the bottle open and at room temperature for 24 hours. Day 2 the wine was much nicer and friendly, The sweetness showing a bit more. For the rest the same impressions as in previous note. Really nice wine with a good qpr.
