Agree with winemakers notes, and i think reflects the winemakers style and approach of the time. A powerful storm just ripped through the blackberry bramble and you are standing there watching the storm recede

By far one of the stranger wines I've tasted and one with an even stranger backstory. A collective of folks rather than an actual winery, Clos Thalès took over and revitalized the Foun del Bosc vineyard to grow the grapes for this wine (which is actually produced at Domaine de la Pertuisane). The varietals play into the mystery, with the most likely candidates being Carignan Blanc and Grenache Gris, both obscure vineyard mutants. Add all of this up, and before you even taste the wine you know you're in for something a bit different. Needless to say, that was the result; upon first tasting, if I hadn't known any better I'd have said it was a good champagne gone flat. The nose and palate were full of yeast, bread, and notes of lees aging. There was a stong sense of baked apple, some overripe pineapple, mango, and even a small touch of lemony citrus. At length, I found I could think of nothing other than almond croissant. Not a bad way to finish, I must say. It was tasty, no doubt, though also very confusing. I'm sure the quality warrants a higher rating than this, but I'm still struggling to wrap my head around it!

I do not like this, at all, on its own. Will see how it fits with food. As with Juslyn cabernet, cloying, which is not necessary. Thanks EH, . . . . not.

Funky bottle. Dark fruit and gritty tannins all pulled together nicely.

Dust, cinnamon, dark red fruit and raisin nose and flavor. Medium tannins. I like it but overpaid. Better on second night.

Plummy, grapey, and quite ripe on the nose. The palate has a nice acidity that pulls it back together a bit, but still, this is just too ripe for me.

The nose was intense yet pretty with crushed ripe raspberry, sweet spice and infectious floral perfumes. On the palate, it was soft and enveloping with focused black fruits and peppery notes. A note of intense pepper lingered on. This was aggressive and concentrated, different, yet highly enjoyable.

The nose showed intense, creamy dark fruits, medicinal herbs, and vanilla. On the palate, it was rich and velvety with cinnamon and intense palate-staining black fruits. Its structure showed through into the finish, but it was heavily counteracted by remnants of intense fruit.

This wine is a monster! The 07 fruit struts itself nicely. The structure consisting of the amazing fruit, acid and tannin are all present and balanced. This wine will need years to resolve. Having said that if you have multiple don't be afraid to pop a bottle with a lengthy decant. I tasted this day one and it was so primal and raw I put the cork back in and waited for day two. The wine has barely moved, but is showing better. The nose is cassis, berries, and everything ripe and dark. The palate explodes with dense fruit, somewhat port like, but very delicious. The finish has round tannin and is lengthy. A tad bit hot, but I am sure this will integrate with time. This is a 15 year + wine waiting to come together. Excellent value if you have the patience or multiples to baby kill with an extended decant. 100% Carignane. This will improve.

Tuesday night at home - graduation week (Ben and Dan) - enjoyed with Jill's homemade salmon salad - incorporating Father's Day leftover salmon. Nice bottle - and nice complement.
