Last one in my inventory. I generally don't think 100% cab franc works but this is the exception. Served this with 2 lb grilled rib eyes (I live in TX) and roasted yam with garlic, mushroom, red onions, red and yellow peppers all sautéed in herbs and slightly Carmelites in the wine with brown sugar and a touch of cinnamon.

Really paired perfectly. This one is dark fruit. Blackberry but with a touch Of anise and hint of cinnamon. Balance is nice and there is a touch of bitterness on the finish.

Deep ruby/light purple color. Nose of crunchy red and black currants, summer plums, an intriguing blend of spicy green herbs, tobacco, cedar shavings and some light roast coffee. Full-bodied and chewy Moderate tannic strength, the edges are quite smooth and I get a surprising amount of fresh acid. Palate of tart red and black cherries and currants, the fruit is tangy yet showing a velvety, lush quality. Notes of tobacco, cedar, eucalyptus, pencil shavings, vanilla, espresso. Full and rich but complex and showing some early refinement. 91% cabernet sauvignon with 9% merlot. A blend from Oakville, Oak Knoll and Howell Mountain

Wine is drinking very well tonight. Shows both the sweet side, powerful fruit, and finish that Howell Mountain is famous for! Powerful nose of blackberry and vanilla. Entry is a soft, powerful, full bodied wine. An extended visit on the tongue is very peppery. Blackberry, cinnamon, vanilla, powerfully extracted. Middle is graham cracker crust, a sweeter side of blackberry. Finish is softly tannic at first, but after an hour the curtain actually seemed much bigger. Black pepper on the finish, with some fig and Nilla wafer crackers. Just delicious. After 1 hour plus, I think this one was properly able to rate. I wish I had bought about 6 more of these, but the other 2 are going to have to hold me through the 2015-2025 drinking window for this wine.

Strawberry sangria colored. Nose of strawberry shortcake, maraschino cherries and some pepper. Creamy profile, medium acid, lots of strawberry and raspberry jam, add in some watermelon. Hints of pepper, spice and green herbs. A richer style in terms of fruit, but dry and showing some brightness. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Very, very nice stuff. At first opening, it was pretty dominated by oak on the nose and tannin on first taste. By about 1 hour into the bottle the tannins had softened, the wine really filled our palates and turned into a lovely wine. I would definitely decant one hour for my next bottle.

Disappointed, especially for the price. Dark cherries and earth on nose and palate. Lacked complexity and depth, though it was very well balanced. Shared with an Oregon Pinot loving friend and he felt the same.

Oak still prominent, so it needs some additional time in the bottle. Juicy and Carmenere-like.

Time has mellowed and balanced the wine. That said, it just seems a muted, better-balanced and smoother version of what it once was. The flavor profile is largely unchanged

American Rosé: Deep salmon colored. Bright red and white cherries on the nose, rose hips, cotton candy, add in some white pepper and basil. Juicy and ripe on the palate but a clean sense of acid. Tangy white cherries, wild strawberries, nectarine, add in some rose petals, cherry blossoms, hints of white pepper and sweet basil. Bright and clean but I like the creaminess and earthy-herbal notes.

A nice wine with very good body and density. Uncorked to a light to medium cherry stain on the cork with minimal bleed, and poured a very dark crimson into the glass. Nose was tart raspberry and some black cherry. The entry is pretty much the same, but rather soft mouth feel on the entry to a medium/full bodied wine. The wine displays a little bramble (more of a mineral bramble vs. an earthy bramble) in the middle but overall maintains good dark red berry backbone characteristics with a hint of baking spice and cinnamon. The finish was a little sweet cedar oaked, black cherry dominant, but overall the tannin was soft at first, then dried as long as the wine sat on the palate, with black pepper finishing. Ate some spicy spaghetti and the pepper finish on this one played rather nicely. This one seems to have very good structure, and I feel that this one will go the distance to 2020. But, it is definitely ready and approachable to drink now with minimal decanting.

First time for with a straight cab franc. At first quite tight. After about 45 minutes, started to really improve. Nice long finish and soft tannins. Kinda pinot like. Very enjoyable.

Full bodied. Cassis is primary, along with spice, cocoa and coffee. Shows just a bit of finese toward the very end. Very good, but the fruit unbalances it at first. Better on day two. Give it a couple of years. Drink now-2018.

Nose: Well balanced with chocolate, dark red cherries, cassis, black currants, and some raspberry tones.

Taste: Full bodied with medium+ tannins and medium acidity. The feel is youthful, but balanced with dark red cherries, cassis, chocolate, and some raspberry tones.

Overall: This is delicious stuff. It is young, but this is really good right now.
