Decanted 1 hour. Big, ripe, juicy purple fruit, mountain flowers and underbrush, black stone grounds, strong fine tannins on the finish. Enjoyable to drink young, but it will benefit from five years or so. Drink 2020-2027.

What a difference a year makes. This wine has come together beautifully. Gorgeous nose, fattened up mid-palate. One of the finest $20 bottles of wine I have ever had. Not a single off note. Long finish. This will have me exploring Delas much deeper.

Ripe dark plum, black cherry, black raspberry, damp dark earth, and sweet spice. Intense but well rounded palate with no sharp edges. More developed than prior bottle consumed. Decanted for 30 minutes, consumed over the subsequent 1.5 hours. Remaining upside for this wine as it continues to evolve.

Never really developed after a few hours. Plenty of red fruit (bramble?) and some other sweet lingered. Medium density mouthfeel. Wait a year for the next one.

Raspberry fruit, thin structure, probably indicating it's past it's peak window (but still decent), light tannins appear on the finish. Med-Light bodied, not normally what you'd expect from a Syrah. If you have bottles left, drink up sooner than later. I don' think it's going to get better.

Classic Cote Rotie/La Landonne nose of roasted meats, road tar, cherry liquor and smoky minerals. Quite juicy and fresh on the palate with tasty flavors of black cherry, hung game and woodsmoke. Has a slightly rustic texture that leads to a finish with mostly resolved tannins and a wonderful cherry-spice floral complexity. Well-made and authentic to its terroir and I like where this is going. 92+

Opened 2 hours prior, followed over an hour. Dark garnet. Dark fruit bouquet with some leather, bacon fat and garrigue. On the palate this comes over as pepper laden fresh Syrah with very silky tannins that are nearly completely resolved. A finely etched oak backdrop provides additional complexity.

I enjoyed this very much. Looking forward to following my others over the next 5-8 years.

Served blind. White pepper, raspberry, bacon. Crisp red fruit on the palate, raspberry, a hint of rubber, fried bacon. Good acidity, a slightly herbal tang on the finish, good lift. Guessed Crozes. Delas is a very consistent performer these days.

A recent purchase, but seems to have been stored well. Dark, youthful color -- no mature brick on edges.
Nose is strong, dense.
This wine is still on the young side. If I had more bottles, I would wait for another 5 years as it might develop further.
A masculine, somewhat coarse syrah, with pretty good concentration and power. Some complexity but not exceptional.
Some tannic astringency. Not as rich, mouth-filling, silky or smooth as the top northern Rhone syrahs.
In my opinion, the high (99 point) Parker rating on release was a bit optimistic. Good, but not 99 point great.
Would match best with gamey red meat or strong cheeses.

Opened and decanted 2 hours prior. Served with chicken, bacon and avocado salad. Quite a light wine with some nice berry fruit but a bit lacking in depth of flavour. Good but not great.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Dark core with crimson rim; smells old, cooked, spicy, herbs, iron; higher toned palate, red fruit, sour, density, velvety tannin, sappy, herbs, dark cherry liqueur, blood; think this might have gotten cooked, purchased within the year from Zachy's.

The wine stays on the lees for 8 months and gets 100% new oak. The vines are grown on a slope with a southern exposure. This 100% new and toasted oak makes this a wine with a completely different style than most northern Rhône Viogniers. In the bouquet the fume of fireworks, flint stone minerals and animals. On the palate full bodied and concentrated yellow and white fruits. Citrus and minerals as well. The oak dominates quite much in this stage, but there is good acidity also. I think this is a Viognier that will benefit with some ageing, so the oak can integrate a bit more. The concentration of the fruits is good enough. Difficult to score. I already like it, so for me 93+, but if one thinks the oak is too overwhelming the score would probably drop below 90.

~24$ CAN @ MLCC. Overall impression is that of a subdued and more nuanced vino. You can taste the terroir and history (early 1800's). That sounds pretty cliche - but fits. Softer, round profile with an earthy component that surrounds the fruit which is a mix of dark cherry and lighter raspberry. I enjoyed a little more with a hint of a chill on this.
