Chapeau!

2nd of two. No record of first in Cellartracker, perhaps because it was drunk last year the night it was purchased. This bottle was much, much better. Served too cool, after it warmed up it exhibited a fullness and depth missing from most Sauvignon Blanc. Excellent.

Took this one to Blue Point Grill in Princeton for our Father's Day dinner...gave this a quick chill, popped and drank over 90 minutes with grilled fish, grilled octopus and calamari - an excellent pairing.

Color has evolved to a deeper, vibrant gold. Nose was minerals, crushed stone, apples, ocean air. Consistent with prior notes: "...citrus, lemon zest, guava, green apples, quince, lime - very nice on the mid palate."

Given that this is an 8 year old SB/Pouilly Fume that still tastes fresh and vibrant, its pretty impressive. Should hold here for a while. Last vintage before DD passed, sentimental favorite...

Year 2 - Super Tasting 5 of 5 - Greg does Loire (Greg's House - Kitchener, ON): There was a bit of sulphur when first popped bit this blew off and showed pineapple, lemon and mineral and then became very vegetal with broccoli, asparagus, and herbs.
The palate was acid driven with cut grass, citrus flavours, minerals, cut herbs and cat pee.
Finish is medium with good complexity....very grassy and herbaceous.

Lemon, white peach, slate, cantalopue. Paired well with sauteed scallops and seared tuna. Crisp but rich in the mouth, however shorter and higher acid finish than bottles from the same vintage consumed last summer.

There was a little reductive funk on this right at first, but it blew off. The wine is terrific Sauvignon Blanc but proves the point that SB is a third rate grape variety. Can't help but wonder what Chenin or Chardonnay might do in the same area. Way too expensive for what it is (or rather, is not).

Excellent and amazing Sauvignon Blanc - which like having an excellent and amazing 1988 Yugo to drive. The grape can only be so good and this about as good as it gets.

Arguably the best reason for Sauvignon Blanc to exist. Ripe pears and peaches on the nose and palate. Mineral and acid well-balanced. This lil lady will bloom into a well-structured, powerful yet elegant lady worthy of sipping by anyone on the planet. Awesome, albeit currently a touch young.

Golden color. The nose shows aromas of grapefruit, herbs, minerals and a hint of chamomile. This is medium bodied on the palate, with very good concentration and a fair bit of finesse. Not as fresh as it could be, probably a good time to drink up. The fairly long finish features a vibrant mineral element.

Deep golden color. The nose is so expressive, showing aromas of citrus, orange blossom, honey, herbs and mineral. This is medium bodied on the palate, with tremendous concentration and a fair amount of finesse. Intense. The long finish displays wonderful mineral elements and just enough acidity.

After the Henry Pellé '11 La Croix au Garde, Frans de Beer made two steps up with Didier Dageneau. Everything in the plus: complexity, depth in the bouquet, just a touch of salt, very lively acidity, extremely balanced and an unbelievable power you recognize in the aftertaste.
This wine has the components to live at least 10 years from now.
Although 'salin' (salty) is a buzz word, specially in France, where you find it nowadays in nearly each white wine, I wasn't so lucky to recognize it, but in this wine it was obvious and charming.

Not your typical Sauvignon Blanc nose, more herbal than grass, even a slight petrol; beautifully rich palate, lush and vibrant, almost unctuous, but avoids crossing the line to overblown, with excellent acidity. Still on an upward trajectory, but at or near it's drinking window. Fabulous with seared scallops.

Sipping at Joey's Place aka Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas. Loire Valley + Dagueneau = the primary reason we continue to sip Sauvignon Blanc. Bless his use of oak…Wow!

Tasted blind. Dark golden but bright and clear.
Subtle & complex bouquet, floral, lemon curd, pear, mineral and a little sweetness. Fragrant nose.
Rich and smooth palate, along with citrus, lemon curb and some honey suckle notes. It has a nice restraint quality while it is also rich and full with good complexity and loads of minerality. Long lingering finish with subtle spicy note.
While the Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées will continue to improve, this bottle is almost drinking at peak. A rare experience to taste Loire Sau Blanc at this pedigree.

Just ok. Maybe heading downhill. Deep yellow in color, but not spoiled. Cat pee and chalk on the nose. Mostly minerals on the palate. A hint of lemon. A little rough going down.

An extraordinary wine and quite contradictory. How does the nose smell of both green nettle gooseberry and tropically fruited honey at the same time? And how does this carry onto the palate with added complexities of minerality? And why have I got no more bottles?!? Ah yes, the price! Beg, borrow or steal if you must, and you really must. At least I still have the 2005.

Loire Tasting; 5/20/2015-5/22/2015 (Leiden): A little bit of candyflos on the palate, but otherwise this is stonking, Its the nose thats the killer at the moment - 5* - with lovely seductive minerality. Still has some puppy fat that it needs to loose and its just a bit too exotic in the mouth. Give it 5 years and this will be brilliant

My first Pur Sang with some age. As usual with Dagueneau, it tastes more like Dagueneau than sauvignon blanc. Oily texture, rich and powerful but with a precise acidity and mineral spine.
