Really singing now. Honeysuckle on the nose, along with very pronounced minerals and sea-shells. Dry and oily in the mouth, with notes of lime and cantaloupe.

An extraordinary wine and quite contradictory. How does the nose smell of both green nettle gooseberry and tropically fruited honey at the same time? And how does this carry onto the palate with added complexities of minerality? And why have I got no more bottles?!? Ah yes, the price! Beg, borrow or steal if you must, and you really must. At least I still have the 2005.

Loire Tasting; 5/20/2015-5/22/2015 (Leiden): A little bit of candyflos on the palate, but otherwise this is stonking, Its the nose thats the killer at the moment - 5* - with lovely seductive minerality. Still has some puppy fat that it needs to loose and its just a bit too exotic in the mouth. Give it 5 years and this will be brilliant

My first Pur Sang with some age. As usual with Dagueneau, it tastes more like Dagueneau than sauvignon blanc. Oily texture, rich and powerful but with a precise acidity and mineral spine.

Oh boy... Guessed this was a Loire, and indeed it was. '02 must've been a superlative Loire vintage for Sauvignon Blanc. This had a sweet perfumed nose of honeysuckle, flowers, lychees. Great balance & intensity on palate too, with tropical yellow fruits and a good dose of minerality. After time in glass, nose had increased layer of complexity with notes of cream and more white-flowers. The '02 Pur Sang I had sometime back might've been greater, but this was an equally good treat. Thanks Johan!

I have enjoyed many bottles of DD wines and this is one of the first that hasn't wowed me. Solid, well structured, bright golden color with that apple, almond, lemon zest thing but not the wow that I've had before. I've got a few of these and I'll continue to see where they are. Not bad in any way, just not as memorable as what I've had previous.

Light clear yellow. Decanted and began drinking after 30 minutes. Slightly closed (young!), but emerging citrus, lemon, ginger and floral aromas. Complex. Terrific balance. Strong acidity but doesn't overwhelm the fruit and texture. Will be absolutely stunning in the future. Rating is conservative based on current drinking.

In the process of materizing now, but there is still enough acidity to carry it. There is a rich oily-ness to the texture now that it didn't have as a younger wine. The nose shows hints of caramel and dried tropical fruit. Palette shows a bit of dried pineapple and tart lemon. A majestic wine from a majestic winemaker. RIP Didier.

Nectarines, flowers, peach, grapefruit, herbs, citrus etc. etc.. Extremely rich, elegant, enticing, profound and long. Some butter with air. Hard to capture in words. It doesn't get much better than this...

The wine has a clear, medium intensity yellow color.

Fully developed on the nose with a medium+ aroma intensity. Aromas of dried stone fruit, resin, slightly botrytis(?), yellow raisins, over ripe red apples, some nutty/oxi notes and mushrooms. With aeration aromas of fresh peach, spice box and fennel seeds came through. Really impressive and intriguing nose.

It's dry on the palate with a high acidity and medium body. The flavor intensity is medium+. It shows flavors of bruised apples, yellow raisins, apricot, wet stones and fennel. The mouthfeel is slightly waxy. The finish is long and acidic with flavors of apple core and stone fruits. I like how the acidity kinda grows on the palate and leaving a very refreshing and light feeling.

Doubtless a wine of outstanding quality which is ready to drink now and for another 1-2 years. It lacks all of my classic Sauvignon attributes and even when the bottle was revealed I had a hard time finding any herbal, black currant or grassy notes. This is how to treat this grape right in my opinion.

In the bouquet minerality which reminds me of sea shells. On the palate very dry with a lot of tart apple acidity and minerals. There are some signs that this wine is very mature, which is not really a surprise after it was revealed. Beautiful, precise and complex wine, which I personally probably would have preferred a bit younger. I nevertheless score it.

Overrated, young, but good. I have never drunk a 100% with that elegance, the wood seems to go with a good way with the wine. It's a pitty that the aftertaste is a bit too short. Can be better in 10 years' time.

This wine just has to be paired with a shell fish. Lobster or oysters and this wine will get it done. This is a zesty white that has lemon notes and a nice amount of green apple. Drink now

This is the kind of wine that delivers excitement. It has such a Granny Smith, fennel, sweet confectioners sugar - with heat applied. It has a great saltiness, reminds me of Atlantic seawater, or a freshly shucked oyster.
The palate is true green apple, lime citrus, salinity.
I've always loved this wine, it's a special wine I can open any day of the night and know I am drinking quality.
Unfortunatly my last bottle of 10. My favorite producer of SB.
I'd love to hear other suggestions of quality Savgnion Blanc of this quality from other Loire valley, at "reasonable prices" , let me know.

Just a ordinary tasting (Chris Home): Nose: Gooseberry, a hint of green pepper and citrus alongside a strong boxwood component. Opens up with some time in the glass and develope a lovley flinty, smoky note too. Very changeable nose.
Palate: Slightly green, stony with a elegant touch. High, vibrant acidity which I like. Very intense, long finish. Still potential left.

Wow! Much better than I expected given that this was after the passing of the master. Intensely chalky and mineral, but showing surprisingly showy/ripe melon/stone fruit, and then loads of herbs. Saline. Very, very long. Immediately obvious as a special bottle of wine. Spectacular pairing with raw littleneck claims, which is a testament to the savory/saline aspects of the wine; but the extra flesh on this compared to a muscadet or Chablis helps pair with the extra fishiness/richness of a claim compared to an oyster. Best Sauvignon Blanc I've ever had, and its not particularly close. Surprisingly fair QPR, this is every bit as good as a $100 white burg, albeit totally different. Wine of the weekend against stiff competition.

A bit of everything: Typical cat's pee aromas, that don't really go away. In the background there's fresh, ripe gooseberries, oak influence is noticeable, lychee and rubber adhesive. Good if you like the style, there's certainly quality to it.

Spring Warm Up Tasting (The Lyon's Tree House): Didn't take notes but the memory is profound! First taste out of the fridge was remarkable for its length. After 30 minutes at room temp, the grapefruit, lemon rind, white peach, saline, and minerals evolve and linger like a couch potato on your palate.

It still has a bit of the youthful green fruit Sauv blanc flavors melding with mature straw, hay, and rainwater flavors and aromas. Lots of life left as well, it still has the power and prickly tartness as you would expect. Lot's of dry extract as you would get from some young Mosel rieslings - there's a noticeable phenolic bitter edge to the fruit that I didn't find very appealing. I don't love it or hate it.

Good Friday Drinks (Domaine Wine Storage - Chicago, IL): Served blind. I exotic fruit on the nose; coconut, peach, cherry had me thinking White Bordeaux. Palate didn't have the weight or concentration to be White Bordeaux, so I was a bit stumped. When the bottle was revealed it all made sense, but in the moment I couldn't piece it all together. Great acidity and balance to the palate that only improved with air.
