Still very young but starting to drink a little better. With air the nose becomes seductive. You have to concentrate on the wine to hear it sing, but it's all in there if you look. Palate is still a little tannic. It if you chew the wine it becomes interesting. Leave for another few years before trying again

Very classy for a Villages, and it is quite possible there is some declassified premier cru wine included. Then again, the viticulture and winemaking is so sympa that it is just one of the best villages around.
Deep robe; touches of soft earth, dark woods and resonant undertones of Chambolle perfume and gentle richness; when first opened it is rather closed with moderate tannins; with time it softens to a seductive texture with lovely flavors of soft dark berries, balanced oak, cassis even, and a long finish with hints of 2011 austerity. Not incredibly complex, but nevertheless very satisfying, it needs 5-10 years to open up, and has the balance and length to be provide very relaxed savoury contemplation.

Very primary, even after 2 hours. Great, fine tannins, quite floral and some elements of forest berries. Long.

Good color. The nose is very pure, displaying aromas of brambly fruit, flowers, spice and a hint of herbs. This is medium bodied on the palate, with good density and very good concentration. Perhaps just a bit rustic. The fairly long finish features ripe tannins and good acidity. Lovely.

Supple red fruit, sweet cherries and red fruit. Decent structure and stuffings for a village and even better for the vintage. Ready to drink with an hour of air and perhaps will improve in a few more years.

Violet, oak, and red fruits on the nose. Ready to drink. Palate was a bit simple but its impressive for a village wine.

Served blind and warm (I'm very sensitive towards serving temps). It was difficult to judge as the wine is ripe and dark owing to the vintage. Well made and tasty but I easily prefer the two surrounding vintages of 2010 and 2008 for this Christophe's CM village.

Has held up surprisingly well. I would think a great success for the vintage. Nice minerality with a bit of vanilla, but all on the light side - a reflection of the vintage pretty much. Very much a quality Corton Charlemagne from an uninspiring vintage.

Served blind, this smelled old and a bit funky but tasted high breed. There was prominent oak, and some acid, not as balanced as some of the others in this flight. This was a bit confounding, couldn’t tell whether it was over the hill or just needing more time. When it was revealed to be Roumier I was somewhat disappointed, expected more from this producer. Then again '98 vintage...

This is a real beauty. Still young obviously but with 30 minutes of air it was the essence of great Chambolle Musigny. Red fruits to the max with a gorgeous texture. Killer wine.

Bought off the shelf from a sleepy wine shoppe in a small town in Virginia. Seemed well preserved, bottle in good condition. The wine was utterly lovely. Needed a few hours of air, which we gave it, checking in periodically. Beautiful aromatics that evolved over the course of the night, showing at first mostly dark rich fruit that felt new-world in tone, but took on more complex aromas too, showing animale, hard spices, and salty rocks. Balanced with good acidity, harmonious, the tannins are fine and the wine is well structured. Delicious wine, super long and complex, a wine that justifies the hype over producer, and indicates the potential of this 1er cru.

Hyper difficult to rate! On the first and second day packed with hard tannins, dry earth, tobacco (! and some more BDX style traces) and TOTALLY SHUT. Very beefy as well. Now, on day three it is starting to open up a bit. I can't believe it myself. The structure appears much less rustic and even a bit refined. Suddenly there is a shy whiff of dark earth melanged fruit in my glass as well. I am sure this one will never become an aesthetic beauty, but there is obviously potential left! A mentally challenging, intellectual, obviously versatile and at the moment pretty elusive Pinot. As I wrote earlier: very difficult to rate! I only know one thing: Let ist breathe AIR ... a lot!

PS: Tonight, 2 1/2 days later, it is opening up, step by step, even the fruit, a melange of very ripe dark cherries and dried plums, is getting more and more communicative. Big surprise, the first day impressions in mind. Perhaps 90 to 92 points.
I'd suggest to keep it in the cellar... for more than just a few years.

Super colour! Needs plenty of time to open up. Rather subtle and challenging. Not so much Chambolle like (probably the vintage). Rather brawny and robust. More brown and dark fruits in combination with a lot of earth. There are underlying indications of a nice elegant touch. Very hard to rate for me.

Lovely full and open nose of dark fruit, herbs , campfire and subtle spice. The green note is there but in a good way. Fully open on the palate. Dense with a fruitcake note and medium finish with fine tannin. Very fine today

Wow -- wild and powerful. Seems secondary in overall characteristics. Will tertiary be better? Not clear. Super-earthy. Strong but at his point under-control tannins. Would be a challenge to find a more interesting wine aromatically. Slips up a bit on the palate. Again, does it ever smooth out there? If yes (and I'm thinking 5-10+ years), this is a true rock star. If no -- if this (today) is close to the pinnacle, then really bad QPR.......

Himbeer-Rubinrot
1.Tag Sauerkirschen,fein erdig,floral,eine gewisse Pfefferschärfe,Menthol,leicht kräuterig.
Prägnantere Säure,körnig- trocknende Gerbstoffe,,seidig, ganz leicht säuerlich.
2.Tag.Kirschen,sehr floral,Menthol,viel Hagebutten,fein erdig,Pfeffer,Granatapfel,leichte feine Röstnoten im Hintergrund,immer wieder Blutorange,mineralisch,sehr komplex.
Saftig,seidig,zwischendurch leicht cremig,gute Tiefe,Säure besser eingebunden,noch leicht trocknend.
Mittellanger rotfruchtig leicht scharfer Abgang

Disappointing experience with David Ridgway. We were set up for a great experience at La Tour d'Argent. The window seat where Elizabeth and Philip sat before the coronation, a tour of the cellar arranged. I explained what I wanted to David Ridgway; a great Burgundian Classic - the 01 roumier bonnes mares, 01 rousseau CSJ, or 93 vogue musigny. But he suggested we go back to 1989, a vintage I've never been lucky with... but when you're in that situation with a guy like Ridgway, why not take his advice.

And then I spent the next 3.5 hours trying to aerate the wine or dupe myself into believing that the wine in the glass legitimately tasted better than a declining middle of the road premier cru. When I had asked him how these wines are showing (before ordering), he described expressive, classic, mature burgundy. But when the bottle came and was so mediocre (certainly not as described) he back pedaled and said that was how he expected it to show (I did not point out the discrepancy). he said "hmm, it's austere and a bit monolithic." I mentioned that I had had better bonnes mares (and ones Far more typical) and he met that with a number of stories involving Christophe missing his own wines in blind tastings etc etc. but the problem was that I told him what I wanted and when we got a really mediocre bottle (and it seems there are excellent bottles of 89 roumier BM out there), he just fobbed it off as if that were the stuff that makes burgundy famous. I call foul (or fowl given La Tour d'Argent?). Worshipping the label? Trying to save face? Doesn't matter. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth and if don't think I'm likely to repeat the experience. Luckily I had yesterday's haut brion to look back on fondly ;)
