This bottle was on fire from the moment the cork was pulled. Great nose. Deep and dark Pinot fruit on the palate. Serious and complex. I can't keep my hands off it.

Note: This Wine was open and decanted 4 hours prior to drinking.

Color: Medium Red Cherry/Ruby in appearance. Still looks rather young for ti's age.

Nose: Moderately floral Vosne smell with some spice and and fragrant red fruits. The more I swirl this in my glass the more it opens up and becomes more intoxicating. Very Pretty.

Taste on Day 1: This is starting to drink very well now. Compared to a bottle I had three years ago it is much more assailable with reduced tannin. Medium body with cherry and raspberry fruit wrapped in a silky Vosne Romanee texture. A classic and beautiful representation of this village in Burgundy. 2006 was a rather cool vintage, compared to 2009 for example, but the two ladies again created elegance with wonderful purity of fruit in a less ripe year. The drinking window is now starting to open on this wine and it will likely improve further for another 2-4 years. A real classy and polished drinker. Score 90+ today

Delicious. Sexy nose. Bright fruit balanced with minerals, elegant depth and long on the palate. Acid a bit high on the finish but a great food wine and perfect with roast duck. Would certainly give other bottles a few more years to really reach their height.

Ripe, full and intense nose of dark fruit, some spice and dark cherry. Very thick and rich on the palate. Round and palate. Great balance. This is serious and intense and will need a lot of time. Need to know more about this producer.

Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir more

4/19/2015 - William Kelley Likes this wine: 94 points

The Mugneret Gibourg Echezeaux is, as usual, brilliant in 2004. An expressive bouquet of red and black raspberry, wild plum, woodsmoke and Vosne-like spice is framed by some lovely vanilla oak tones which, at age eleven, are beginning to be integrated into the wine. On the palate the wine's bright, ripe fruit is still very vivid, taking center-stage, and this Echezeaux is really quite primary, despite its silky approachability. There is lovely breadth and depth here, and the wine will only become more fascinating with a few more years in the cellar as more nuance emerges on the palate.

Union Square Wines Burgundy Tasting: Small pour at a store tasting. Nose shows distinctive 2011 greenness, that I perceive as a strong minty character. Palate is better, red fruit, very high acid, nice velvet texture.

Opened, not decanted and drank over 2.5hrs. A wonderful mix of red berry fruit and finely ground brown spices on both the nose and palate. Great freshness and acidity all throughout. Still has structure and tannins to allow for further aging, but in a nice window currently. Very tasty.

Very nice wine that you can drink now. Really opened up with a decent. Had with duck and fattoush salad. Not huge or heavy but was on first pour.

Pale/medium ruby/garnet core, wide pale garnet rim. Aromatic, potpourri of red and purple fruits, very floral, haunting. Medium bodied, very fine tannins, finely boned, lovely pure bilberry fruit, some sweet strawberry, fresh acids, very good length slightly savoury finish with a touch of dusty tannin. Beautiful village Vosne.

I have a few more of these, so I thought I would check in. This is very big, with lots of structure and tannin, so not surprisingly it took a few hours to open up and was still developing the next day. Quite dark for a M-G, with plenty of red and black fruit. Despite the size and structure, there is still a velvety feel to the finish. Would not have guessed villages-level. Certainly very nice and drinkable today with a decant, but I will try my best to hold off of remaining bottles.

Everything I am looking for in relative young Grand Cru Red Burgundy – opened with strawberries, cherries and spices and after an hour become more mineral and earthly but still lots of fruits were there.
We roasted nice rack of lamb with Dijon mustard, rosemary, garlic and black pepper and the magic worked! Great wine with very long finish.

Deep, meaty and evolved nose. On the palate completely softened tannins with spice, tea and lots of forest notes. Light on its feet, delicate and with tons of souplesse. Ready to enjoy now although it could be drunk over the next two or three years. Stunning!

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Colicchio & Sons - New York NY): Tasted in 06/07/09 vertical. A massive wine that can be perceived as fruit-centric today, this has everything good and graceful slightly obscured by the beauty of the ripe red and black berries that are everywhere. Give this another decade in the cellar, but it is a "wow" wine.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Colicchio & Sons - New York NY): Tasted in 06/07/09 vertical, brief note. Great aromatic start of maturing red and black berries, great spice and emerging earth notes. Similar flavor profile with good power for the vintage with a charming weightless character. Also excellent.

Great stuff. Opens up with light red fruit that shows great transparency. All of it firmly in check with acidity and still some tannins. It smoothes out with air and adds some Vosne spices. It will probably take 2-3 years before the tannins smoothes out. It is very enjoyable now though. Very good village wine.

1996 - Brett on the nose, which slowly blows off into fresh pot roast, mushrooms, candied orange peel, and hints of spearmint. A bit tight, but slowly opened to ripe cranberries, wet soil, mushrooms, and a lingering finish. Certainly requires a couple hours to decant and has a long life ahead.
