Nicely full of color and fruit with touch of butter in the strawberry jelly. Finish is a bit awkward - hence the lower review.

40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 14% alcohol. Good day 2 without added water or 7-Up. A wine for non-demanding palates.

A reasonable enough value as a $5 TJ's purchase, but it falls pretty flat, and tastes watered down. Pale salmon hue with damp-dog-in-front-of-the-fireplace in the nose, even after some air. Unripe cherries and strawberries and a clipped finish. We normally enjoy Langeudoc rose's. But this one doesn't provide much interest.

Dark red to purple color. Aromas of black fruit and some spice. Dry, Balanced, smooth, but strong and intense flavors of black fruit on the palate. Medium finish. I wish that I had another one in the cellar.

Inky black-purple color. Full body. Lots of black fruit, as well as chocolate and spice on the palate. The potent, active tannins demand a long, two to three hour decant. Well-balanced, delightful, and satisfying wine; a really great value. It might be better in a couple more years, to let the tannins resolve.

Soft mouth, dark berries, Carmel. Really no nose to talk about. If this wine is in your cellar, you may want to start drinking. In my rookie opinion, this will not improve. It may be beyond its best.

Popped and poured. Dark and brooding with overwhelming green peppers on the nose. After 1/2 hour came together a bit more. A decent weekday drinker, plan to decant.

Southern France QPRs: Purple in color. The nose is dusty with some charred wood. Graphite and black raspberry. On the palate, thinner and slightly bitter. Some heat. Nice finish though. I wonder how this was in its youth as some of the fruit has dropped out. At $18 Ohio, this was fine if not great.

Dark. SMG blend. Medium/low intensity Syrah aroma of game, smoke and integrated dark fruit. Good integrated flavors follow the aroma. It's great in the mouth, ripe, forward, concentrated, with good acidity, not showing age but some maturity and in a good place for drinking. Enjoyable, well made, true to the vintage, alcohol but it doesn't show, needs strong food.

I have long advocated that rosés should be consumed young, within the year they were made. Yet of late I have had a few that from tasting have gained complexity with age. In addition, I have tasted a few more that have been — gasp! — too young!

A lot of this has to do with our modern winemaking techniques. In decades past when early oxidation was a problem, rosés needed to be enjoyed young before the life went out of them. Today the wines are so well made — some would argue in certain cases TOO well made — that they lack completeness, flavor and complexity in their youth. They are mere buds instead of full-formed flowers.

In tasting this wine at nearly 3 years of age, perhaps having sat on store shelves for who-knows-how-long, it comes off just fine: not intense but thoroughly enjoyable with a watermelon color and a "just right" balance of acidity and sweetness.

At one time rosés were the top selling wine in the U.S. Labels like Gallo Pink Chablis, Almaden Grenache Rosé, the Portugese Lancers and Mateus, Robert Mondavi Gamay Rosé, and later Sutter Home White Zinfandel dominated sales. Today pink wines seem to have a bad name, which make their better examples great buys for those of us who appreciate the delicacy and nuance of their genre.

The Domaine de Nizas Coteaux du Languedoc Rosé will never be a household brand, but for those looking for unique, estate bottled, small production wines, it is a unique gem at a reasonable price for a hot summer day, a winter palate freshener, or a titillating taste treat (UGH, forget the alliteration!) any time of the year.

Better integration and yet still has nicely polished and complex fruit. At its peak? Will drink well for a few years. Excellent with egg linguine and marinara sauce.

A single vineyard bottle imported by Clo du Val in Napa. This wine has has aged very well. Just now coming in to greatness. I did not care much for this one earlier. But now it's matured. A backwards GSM, or SMG if you will. Purple ink color. Unique nose of red fruit and ?. Very smooth tannins now. Very flavorfull. I did not care for this vintage earlier. The 04 being a huge bottle that was outstanding. Now the 05 is greatness. The good news is I have plenty more. The bad news being I'm probably the only one in the universe who has any. Shaka Brah
