Rich and sombre colour, mature appearance; deep and warm nose, vinous, mature, toasted chestnuts, red meat, black olive, with subtle notes of black pepper, violets and cassis; rich and fleshy palate, ripe but lively acidity, largely resolved tannins still provide grip, rounded but sober and masculine, broad shoulders; good length.

Trenger lang tid i kjelleren.

Expressive and remarkable fragrance of black olives, meat, crowberries, and something balsamic and dark, like shoe cream, gives way to succulent and sappy taste, almost thick and fat, fine length and licorice on the finish. Very special and fine. Drinks very well now.

Medium red color, brilliance. Smokey, meaty, earthy nose, with olives, cranberry, dust. One taster said it suggested a smoldering closet full of old oily baseball mitts, a pomegranate in each. Yeah, that too. On arrival, medium-low tannin and medium acidity; has an energetic acidic lift. Flavors echoed from the nose, the meat and oily/tar elements more prominant than the fruit. Warm, round finish. Bottle #3 of six.

This bottle was closed down, and no amount of decanting to aerate pull it open. Probably in its shut down phase and won't emerge for many years.

Fantastic example of Cornas that is still quite young. Nose is mostly still primary at 10 years old with pen ink, crushed granite, dark berry fruits, violet, smoky meat, and hints of underbrush. The palate is definitely integrating, but still has robust tannins. The acidity and concentration in the palate keep the tannins in check, but I think this will be better in another 5-10 years.

Very floral, herbal, savory Syrah with dark fruits and scorched earth. The palate is fresh and tasty with plenty of fruit and continued floral notes with hints of earth and smoke. Very good and similar to the Cornas.

Deep red. Typical tarry syrah nose, ripe slightly confit fruit, earthy and quite meaty. Soft, quite mature now, very nice though not the minerality or power of a top Cornas. Surprisingly approachable now.

Dark red color, slight garnet edge. Assertive nose, immediate: olives, black pepper, wood smoke, burnt cherry, mixed garrigue. On arrival, medium fine tannin and medium-low acidity; elegant structure. Flavors repeat the elements from the nose, both fruity and savory, and in great harmony. Sustained finish, wicked good. With oak-grilled rabbit paella, memorable. Bottle #6 of twelve.

Medium red color. Pungent nose, powerful and rich: wood smoke, raw beefsteak, menthol, olives, tar, dried cherry. On arrival, medium-low tannin and balanced acidity. In the mouth, everything from the nose repeats, with the fruit taking a more prominent position than the smoke and meat elements. Big mint and menthol in the mouth. Good finish but the empty glass is left with a coating that exudes an aromatic powerhouse after just an hour's air. Lovely. Bottle #11 of twelve.

Remarkably young for a 16 year old wine. This was put up against other aged northern rhones from flagship producers (hermitage and cote rotie) and this was by far the youngest expression. Hardly any tertiary elements were showing, though this did not impact how pleasurable the wine is today. I'd recommend holding probably another 10 years to see the full potential of this wine.

Served during a tasting on the four major french grapes. This wine is from the young wines of the highly rated Cornas by this producer. After being closed for the past few years it now has entered the drinking window. Nose of red and dark fruit with torrefaction, spices, leather. On the palate it has very present fruit, nothing austere here, and is met with excellent tannins at the finish. The peppery notes of Rhone Syrah are tame and not overbearing here as well. A great northern Rhone wine that does not break the bank. Decant for 1h.

PnP. A lot to like here: classic but restrained/refined Cornas flavours. Sappy, spicy red fruit, slightly dry, woody (not a fault though) tannins shut down the sweet, rich core of fruit halfway through. Needs decanting, or better yet, another 5-10years -- but classic norhern rhone syrah combining animal notes and fruit.

Purchased this bottle in Paris back in March and waited a few months for bottle shock. Decanted three hours ahead of a feast of seared smoky BBQ pork loin, chicken, roasted garlic potatoes, asparagus, and watermelon feta salad. Sappy, purple, cloudy Crimson. The nose is concentrated and extraordinary, bringing fresh cut violets, roses, lavender, cherry blossoms, spearmint, white pepper, dried herbs, smoked bacon, sweet cherry tobacco, campfire, and candied raspberries. The palate is medium-full, square, broad, and juicy, bringing loads of Manhattan cherries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, sweet tobacco, horse saddle, charcoal, motor oil, dried herbs, roasted garlic, and nice candied strawberries into the finish, which lasts 45-seconds with good weight and thick yet delicate tannins. Drinking good now but this will evolve into all kinds of wonderful things in the decades ahead. Drink through 2040.

Loved it - had it against a 2009 Craggy Range Le Sol and the Cornas was preferred. Much better the next day. Really really enjoyed ! Was last bottle. Othes left are all the full Cornas.

Surprisingly unevolved and primary. The sides are round and smooth and the structure is not really showing, both attributes of age, and yet the palate is still young and primary. I would cellar this for a few years with the hope of a more expressive, complex palate, but the smoothness of the palate and the absence of notable structure suggest that this may not be one to cellar. Try in 3 or 4 years. Racines with Sarah and the Sugarmen.

This puppy has got some character! Pronounced Northern Rhone notes of cracked black pepper and cloves but then also a huge personality of red berry flavours, almost strawberry-yoghurt, a bright red berry profile, but it didn't seem like malo-yoghurt - it really felt like just the character of the wine and terroir and not something winemaking related. I suppose you could call it floral; lillacs, lillies, lavender. Very intense. It doesn't sound that unique in writing, but it really was. This should be easy to identify blind as it really has a character dissimilar to most other wines, even from the Northern Rhone. Then of course a rather tight, youthful structure with present acidity and quite some tannins to let you know that this is Syrah and France. Highly enjoyed this.
