If you LOVE grapefruit, then you'll give this a 95.
I tried to airate the wine best I could but the acidity and taste of grapefruit ink got stronger. I had nothing at my table that I could find that compliments grapefruit. I had to give it away.
My first bad bottle of Gevry Chambertin.

Holy smokes! What an incredible wine! This is a Villages? Almost rated 94. This struck a nerve! Bright, red rose petal perfume, high-pitched grippy cherry fruit, zappy, electrifying. Underbrush and perfectly balanced integration of oak. Some ripe, peach rind too. Just beautiful!

Martine's Wines with Martine Saunier (Formento's - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Black and red fruit with moderate concentration, well done overall in a lighter style best for 2013. Well balanced now, very good young but should easily drink well for a decade+.

Fint delikat krydderpreg.
Slank men samtidig smakfull frukt.
Litt kantete kanskje.
God lengde med litt for heftige tanniner uten mat.
Tørker veldig i munnhulen.
God lengde.
Er det nok frukt til å lagre?

Justerini & Brooks tasting at Drake & Morgan (Drake & Morgan): Much riper and more voluptuously fruit-led than the Latricieres Chambertin GC Remy 2007 which followed.

Joyaux en Côte de Nuits (Marsannay/Gevrey-Chambertin) - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Complexe Sportif Gevrey-Chambertin): Tasting, brief note. Much denser and firmer vs Cinq Terroirs, but longer finish and with more power. VG 91-92 point potential, but probably best after 2023.

Big and showy wine. Starts out quite oaky; almost overbearing. Rounds out nicely as the bottle opens, though -- becoming quite well-balanced. Fabulous texture throughout.

a lot of oak on opening but opened up with air. Dark and polished smoky cherries, very long. A couple years of further ageing wouldn't hurt.

Opened and poured, this wine gave a very good showing with aromatics of dark fruits, spice, wood and some subtle bug spray notes. The color is a translucent, youthful dark ruby. The medium bodied palate comes across as somewhat lean with very good balance overall. The medium length, tart finish shows moderate structure with youthful fruit and tannin. At this stage the wine gives a very good showing; however, some elements detract from the overall impression. If these elements dissipate with bottle age this wine should give a more impressive showing in a few years.

8th of 12, pnp, previous notes variable, from flawed to fine - dark red, little development; attractive cherry fruit, some tar and barnyard, high toned; medium, slightly volatile and unbalanced, decent length, ok with hearty food, suspicion of over extraction, quite tasty though, may settle yet. Too odd for better than VGI (17).

Dommage...

Unfortunately, I popped and poured this bottle (which I almost never do). It had a red/purple center and light red rims. The medium intensity nose showed rhubarb, cherries, and some tan spices.

This changed a lot over the 2 hours we were drinking it. Clearly, it has some positive evolution ahead. In the end it was ripe with nice balance, rounded firm tannin, and pretty good length.

While not particularly complex, this is a well crafted wine that may have some upside.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. While the first three in the lineup were already open for business, this Lavaux is more classically Gevrey - darker, more muscular and more earthy. New oak stands out a bit of now, but clearly this has the substance to be fully absorbed. 92-93 point potential, 2023-.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Very similar to Cinq Terroirs, but with bigger, denser, slightly sweeter black fruit. Still open, fun and accessible even now, but certainly will be better in a few more years.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. Black cherry with some emerging sauvage. Fun and open right now, perhaps waiting a year for the new oak (~30%) to integrate a little more. Very good 2017-2033.

La Paulée de San Francisco - Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. It takes a lot of confidence to bring Fixin to La Paulee...confidence which this wine certainly justifies. Ripe red and black cherry. Bbright and accessible on nose, more firm and backward on palate. Hold a year or two, then a very good everyday drinker with meat.

Note from memory at a wine dinner. Gorgeous aromatics with layers of earth-driven and black cherry fruit goodness. Deeply textured and layered palate. This is in a lovely spot with complexity and balance of rich fruit and precise structure. Terrific.
