Nice chardonnayfruit, but this wine is underachieving. Anonymous but balanced fruit. Not much aging to see or taste either. A beautiful nose of gooseberries, but that is the most fun part of this wine.

Not a good showing. Diffuse, the alcohol showing, lacking a center. Bad bottle, I think.

My first bottle of this wine from my stash. Liz immediately loves it, saying that it "tastes like a peach-lemon dessert". I don't get any peach (thankfully - I don't want peach in my Chablis), but there is plenty of lemon, lemon ice, clear fruit with a golden sun-baked edge to it, very nice acids and a long, lip smacking finish. Lots of energy here. A winner. Like most Louis Michel Chablis, I would drink this young to mid term to capture its youthful energy. In New City, Labor Day BBQ with the family.

Did not mean to open the VV, but so what? Nice clear palate, solid orchard fruit, citrus, grapefruit, hints of rock salt, good energy, long finish. But not significantly better than the non-VV Butteaux. The VV impressed me early after release, but as the two wines have aged, they are both impressive and I don't discern that the VV is especially better.

Initially a little closed but blossomed after an hour of being opened, I'll decant the next one well before drinking. Citrus, a hint of tropical aromas, rich fruit with subtle minerality and warm oak. Not a classic chablis but then it was a very warm year. Drinking nicely now and for the next 2 or 3 years i imagine.

An impressive entry-level Chablis that is pure, and vibrant, with a great core of fruit with almost laser-like focus. Lovely back end precision and minerality on a long and zesty finish. This had no problem standing up to a mildly-spicy red curry sauce.

Terrific showing. Bright palate, clear, no oak, just white and clear orchard fruits and lively acidity and energy. With some air, notes of unsweetened crystallized pineapple appear. Drinking very well right now.

Lemon curd and lemon zest, grapefruit pine and salt water, some creme brulee. It is medium to full bodied with some lemon and a hint of brioche and lemon zest mid palate. Nice salinity and acid but the body and finish denotes some oak and smoothness.

This is really good for the price. Lime zest, minerality, floral hints, beeswax, and sea breeze on the nose. The palate is refreshing, flavorful, and expansive for a village level wine. Classic stainless Chablis. Fantastic.

Good showing. Chris notices that the color suggests a bit of age. Clean palate, white and clear fruit, hint of fennel, the sides are round and not as chiseled as a young Chablis, this is long in the mouth and smooth and round on the sides. No oak, no flab, nice definition. Very clean. Drink now to mid, as there is little point to aging this further. With Chris Y.

Lovely Chablis. Amazing bouquet. Began a tad cold with tons of limestone and citrus. Went through five lovely personalities as it warmed. A very enjoyable wine.

Drinking beautifully right now. you can pair with some spicy food and it shines and the refreshing acidity cuts right through and you get this tremendous mouthfeel. Let it sit in the bottle after getting it out of the cellar - so drank a few degrees above cellar temperature and the wine really came into it's own.

Light golden color. Chalk and peach pit aromas. Some richness in this bone dry Les Clos. Shows depth and breed. Finishes very well - crisp yet long. Drinking very well but there is no hurry. Lovely but not great. (92)

About five months since my last note on this; light yellow in the glass, with a light "seashore" nuance.

Crisp and bracing on the palate, with nice persistence on the finish. That said, a little underwhelming for what I usually expect from a Montee de Tonnerre. I have a couple friends that extol the virtues of Michel, but for whatever reason this winemaker has yet to really grab me.

Nose of minerals and lime. Lime, grapefruit and minerals. Good acidity, could have a bit more fruit in the taste. Very nice with salmon sashimi.

Wow! Did I say Wow?

Great QPR at $15 from JJBuckley.

Color: Sparkling green apple
Nose: Amazing! You can get lost in this - what great white Burgundy is all about! But so seldom is... Baked apples, brie cheese, a hint of citrus and a touch of oak.
Palate: Racy and rich at the same time. Cascades across and caresses the palate with an amazingly complex, rich, delicious and refreshing array of flavors - apples, grapes?, minerals - so balanced with great persistence. Wow! Did I say that already?

Glad I have a few more. I don't think there's any hurry to drink this one up...

Not a good showing, darker gold color is an early clue. Initial cheesy smell that blows off, but not much instead. Bad single bottle, or further evidence that L. Michel Chablis is not to age? On the roof with Neil and Michel before Szechuan Gourmet.

Chablis, Dom. Laurent, Suduiraut, Madeira (John V.'s): Light, silvery gold. The nose has spice, vanilla and apples. Slight bubbles, Plenty of sulfur which bothered some. Apple slices on the palate. Nice finish.
