Gamey and sauvage on the nose, with the beef bouillon note that is the telltale nose of Gevrey, and more and more sweet red fruit and a hint of white pepper as the wine opened up. Super-silky texture - unmistakably Grand Cru - and a sweet entry, with a smooth yet still evident tannic backbone and fine length. This only needed a bit more flesh (rare in my experience for a Chapelle) to merit an even higher score. This was the 11th of my 12 bottles; I will be sorry when these are gone. 93/94 points |
