Quite nice, starting with fresh red fruit, continuing in the taste (recognizable syrah) and a decent aftertaste; suggestion, drink this wine a bit cooled.

My last bottle of 12, and I have loved everyone them, but it was time for this one to go. Served blind for Mr. Pacalet at dinner, he preferred this over Pegau 98 and Papet 98; It is light, Burgundian with just hints of heat showing at the end, but otherwise surely a joy, strawberry-fruit, pinot-like character that shows, why the Burgundians used to come to Gigondas for help. Will keep, but certainly mature now.

Day 1 PnP, quite closed and tannic, with some heat. On the second day it was much more open, harmonic and complex. Nice wine

Very good: rich, fruity, nicely spicy and characteristic for the appellation.

Wow! This effort never ceases to amaze me. It is still young with a lot of primary fruit left. A masterpiece. The first impression is a cascade of cool dark mature fruits and sun dried flowers. Then there is the classical thyme, sage and rosemary combined with subtle tones of leather and garrigue(!). The palate is extremely well integrated, fruit, tannins and acidity are all perfectly matched. Tannins are present but certainly more subtle tonight compared to previous tastings. The finish just goes and on and on. It actually lasts for an eternity... A beautiful wine and without doubt the best Gigondas I have ever tasted. This is a true gem.

Sadly, not at all meeting up to our expectations around 95p.

Has either withdrawn in to its shell or just simply come out of the closet. No more stained teeth. No more umpa-umpa.

Dark red.
Nose is huge for the genre and not immediately Grenache. Has very fine qualities here that stirs up memories of walking around in La Garrigue in the winter time, just wishing for those special Southern French aromas to emerge... But, they were nowhere to be found.
Palate: Quite in line with the food friendly M-bodied acid-driven Southern French wines we've enjoyed throughout life. The added edge here, is that that this wine has a maturing mellow core that streches from the entry and throughout the finish. This is very attractive, and not your everyday glass-o-wine. All in place but lacking in concentration and umpa-umpa for the higher score we so much had anticipated.

We both think that our score may have been too high to honestly reflect our taste in a blind tasting. Sorry for being slightly blinded by previous experience and expectations, as well as STUNNING food at:
La Rochelle 'Sanno', delivering yet another absolutely fabulous MEGA-dinner.

***
After decanting: Left the tasting glas (the one with sediment and all) for an hour, and at 21C it was undrinkable, due to the high level of EtOH. Please make sure you drink this around 18C.

Deep, penetrating, massively expressive, amazing with a good steak; this is one wine that calls out for food. This is big snd brawney but at the same time refined. The quality is pretty obvious here.

Decanted for 30 minutes & served with baked chicken (with chimichurri sauce). Dark red color. Blood, smoked meat, dirt & iron on nose (awesome). Full body but medium+ acids provide balance. Sour cherry / cherry / tobacco flavor profile. I really enjoyed this - my wife would hate. Polarizing is a good description as prior taster noted. 91+ would rate higher but medium length finish. If you like "old-school" dirty CDPs this is worth seeking out.

Weird, unique, somewhat polarizing. I definitely get the 'blood,' especially in the viscosity of the wine, the minerality in the wine, &, well, the sanguinity of flavor in the wine. Drinking half of this tonight after a quick decant; will consume the remainder tomorrow.

Very ripe and pure fruit, interesting nose, reminded me of sikomaida, a traditional greek sweet made from dried figs, mastic, nuts, fennel, anise, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves and laurel leaves.
Full bodied with very generous fruit, but still very young as it needs some more years to integrate.
Has the annoying CO2 and alcohol is a little too warm.

Oh, my! This was my first Gigondas and I LOVED it. It was a little tight upon opening. Three hours in a decanter made a world of difference. Nose of flinty cherry, wild flowers and a little spice. The palette has complexity (even in its youth) and reflects the nose. There is substantial structure and back bone that will lend to aging. Red fruit and dark chocolate come through in the very long finish. Outstanding.

In the bouquet tea, leather rust and celery. On the palate a very mature wine with chocolate, chamomile tea, a lot of sweet spiciness, ok acidity and also a firm dose of sweetness. The tannin is completely melted. The wine is still drinkable and even a pleasure, but in fact too old now. Should have been drunk 5 years ago. No score.

Deep red colour with a dash of purple. Bouquet: raw meat, dark berries, a touch of sour cherries. Palate consistant with the bouquet ex the raw meat, still a little bit tannic, medium acidity, a little bit thin. Guess IT would benefit from one or maybe two years cellaring. May gain a point or two from those years.

This is pretty dense at this point, with deep blackberry and plum notes. Not yet showing great delineation, and the tannins are just a tad too chewy for my taste. Hold, if possible.

Initially, straight from the bottle after pnp, the wine was what could only be described as ragged. The nose was very primary fruit and it was hot with alcohol and the tannins were aggressive.

After 2 hours in the decanter, the wine underwent a total tranformation.

dark cherry, blackberries, , garrigue and stone on the nose and palate. SOme additional menthol on the nose that i didnt get in the mouth. Tannins regressed to a soft but structured backbone to the wine. Really pleasant surprise. The change in character in the wine was so stark that my wife swore that I had simply discarded the original bottle and opened something better.

Not a great showing this time.
Nose was rather muted and palate was fully mature.
Still a very flavorful wine, ripe and complex with a long finish.
Tannins are firm and flavors include macerated red and black fruit,
chocolate, coffee, leather, tomato paste, iron and hints of rubber.
Judging by this bottle I would drink rather sooner than later.
