A great food wine. PnP and enjoyed throughout a two hour, four course meal. Pleasant nose but not overpowering. The acidity was a perfect match for the duck and ham chop entrees. Earthy, bitter cherry and vanilla with a good lengthy finish.

I don't understand the divergence of opinion. This is a lovely wine and why Oregon often gets the nod for generally producing more Burgundian Pinot Noir than California.

Wonderful red color with a bit bit of bricking at the edge, but clearly within the optimal drinking zone for the next five years. Nose of cherries and raspberries and subtle notes of forest. Flavors mimic the nose (cherries and raspberries mostly) and include a wonderful trifecta of red licorice, plus high notes of watermelon and peony toward the end. Good acidity.

A gift from jeffreylubowski, who loves this wine and this vintage.

PS No cola element, which one associates with Russian River Pinot Noirs, which is neither a positive or a negative. Fortunately, I like both regions.

(Served with chicken and herb-raosted tomatoes in a pan sauce plus mash and white beans on the side.)

Hour decant Nose: Black cherry, sweet berries, forrest floor and an earthy note. Palate: Ripe red/black fruit attack with elements of stem and some nice supporting acid. Finish: Dense and sweet with great balance and some cedar & spice notes. Great wine.

Left a glass over night and this mellowed out in an interesting way. Overripe strawberry and some brown notes coming through. I would not over aerate this, but showing great right now with some patience.

Light Ruby. Restrained nose of red fruits. Light in style, with strawberry, cherry, tea flavors. Pleasant to be sure, but missing depth. I do not see it improving with time.

Dark Garnet in color. Red fruit, smoke, minerals and ? Bacon? On the nose. Red raspberry and some tartness in a an elegantly styled Pinot. Drank with a filet from Ruth's Chris. Well done. Will be fun to see how this does over the next few years. Young but drinking well now.

Bright red fruits on the nose. On the palate it's crisp red fruits of raspberry, cherry, and cranberry. Very balanced in terms of fruit, acidity and tannins. Very good now, better in a year or two.

Quite nice, though I can see why some people think this wine is overripe; my bottle was nicely balanced but it could tend into the boozy kirsch side of Oregon Pinot if you caught it at the wrong time. Drink now? Hard to tell where this wine will go next.

PnP fresh bottle at the United Loung in Denver. Correct garnet color slightly orange rim. Bing cherry raspberry and a hint of rhubarb on the nose. Silky rich but still fresh mouthfeel. Nicely ripe but not flabby with cherry and sour raspberry flavours with a touch of cola. Very nice.

Deep Ruby. Sappy, medium plus intensity nose with ripe cherry and gentle wood spice. On the palate it is dry, medium bodied, with medium to medium plus acidity, round integrated tannin, and a touch of alcohol burn. Flavour attack is cherry and pomegranate, which softens to oak spice at mid-palate, with a medium finish length of smokey wood. This wine is a bit over-powered, such that the initial varietal Pinot aromas are a bit lost on the palate, which brings to mind California Pinot more than Oregon or Burgundy, which is a bit against expectations, and for me, does not justify the price point.

Nose is cherries with hints of earth. The balance of the wine is very good. Palate is smooth with a lovely finish, can get better with some time, but how much better is open for debate as everything seems to be working with this wine at this point.

I have now tasted ten bottles of this wine and there is a fairly significant bit of bottle variability. I have found the wine to be lush and soft medium-bodied and I have found it to be the "vodka-infused cherry cough syrup" (well, not quite that bad) described by others in these notes. This most recent bottle was merely okay on the first night and had gone around the bend the second, trending more toward the uglier notes about the wine. I have two or three bottles and I doubt they will last longer - I don't think there is any potential for improvement and any flaws will only be enhanced by time.

I had the 2007 of this wine 3 weeks ago which was an unbalanced and over oaked let down. 2008 was somewhat better but still not worthy. Earthy aromatics smell soapy. The taste is very much smucker cherry so ripe that any floral aromatics of Pinot is suppressed. Even knowing it is not the premier cru of Nuits St George, this wine is still so in need of any hint of character. 1 hour in the glass, the nose and finish is all vanished, just like Domaine Serene is gone from my shopping list.
