Nearly colorless, greenish gold. Soft nose of green almond, salty praline, some brine, somewhat grassy. Salinity and oily nuts on the palate. Lemon / lime. Oily. Both fresh and sharp but not overwhelmingly complex. Improves with airtime, fuller. Short note.

Fantastic! Fruity, to the point of being almost cloying, but with an acid that justifies everything. Worth waiting for!

Subdued stone, slate and citrus notes with a contained energy. Nicely balanced but with an overall light touch. Consumed with sashimi

Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Proof that today was a tough day for Chablis, this was nowhere near the level of previous bottles. Seemed slightly musty, so perhaps ever-so-slightly flawed.

Good clarity here, but really mellow, like the Fevre assertiveness and brightness has receded. This is light on the palate, which is rather clear, with touches of lemon and lime, and a long, dry finish.

Crisp acidity, piercing chalky minerality, perfectly classical and balanced, intense and elegant, ripe lemon fruit, tightly wound but relaxed, mature but energetic, supported by some warmth from the wood, aromatic herbs, hint of salted butter, focused and stylish, very good length. Will last, but for me this is at peak. An exciting and satisfying, very classy Montée de Tonnerre.

Still light yellow with a trace of green. Wow, so much pink grapefruit right out of the gate that it almost transports you to Sancerre. It also starts out atypically light and delicate for Les Clos. With air, though, more body appears along with some herbs and orange. What doesn't change is the beautiful underlying acidity and the long finish that is full of soil. In the end, amazingly fresh and nicely detailed, but it just doesn't have the extra oomph of the very best examples of this cru.

"Côte de Bouguerots", an elite two hectare parcel at the bottom of Bougros that's so steep and stony. It's known for its sturdy minerality and concentration.

"this delivers Grand Cru quality." When you taste Fèvre's Vaulorent, it's hard not to find wisdom in the statement. In Fèvre's hands, Vaulorent reaches a saturating chalky minerality, a depth of flavor and a striking elegance that places it squarely in Grand Cru territory. The story is one of terroir: a mere path separates Vaulorent from the Grand Cru Les Preuses.

Nose had tropical fruit, minerals and candied fruit. Palate had good weight along with stone fruit and minerality with weight. A decent chablis but not too much complexity.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): I had actually been very excited to try this wine, but I found it a bit of a let-down. This was rounder and sweeter, with some yellow fruited tones, and I didn't find this to be a convincing example of a Chablis -- it lacked the tension and urgency from the best examples; I suppose the acids were a touch light here.

Tasted blind. Rather oaky, Côte de Beaune like, with ample acidity and tannin. Probably in its drinking window but would benefit from another year or two of cellaring. I think the oak treatment here was a tad too much.

My first 07 Fevre. A pale yellow color, defying the almost 10 years of age. Plenty of citrus, white fruit, sulphur. On the palate the usual chalk and minerals, some grass notes, however dominated by citrus more than anything. This is more linear and lacks on the palate any explosive wow effect. Perhaps also lacks depth. Anyway, as expected the 07 Fourchaume is a very good and classic Chablis style which will easily last another 5+ years, at the same time I am already looking forward to trying the 07 Montee de Tonnerre, my favorite of all Fevre Chablis including the couple Grand Crus I have had so far.

Tasted the 2009 and 2011(Cote de Bouguerots) together and both are delightful tonight. The 09 is richer with more punch to the penetrating flavors of cool green fruit, some tropical and melon notes, floral hints, lots of firm minerality and brisk acidity at its core and a long, lingering finish. The 2011 on the other hand, while very similar, is leaner, more delineated and perhaps more delicate or nuanced. I think that both are excellent Chablis that are drinking beautifully, but I also think that the 2011 needs another couple of years of bottle age. That being said, I'm still faced with the dilemma of drinking these wines young or waiting and risking premox. This weekend I had to spill 3 bottles of another producer's 09 Meursault that was premoxed, which I had tasted about 6 months to a year before and was drinking beautifully then.

Thankfully, not oxidized. So much going on - minerality, apple, pineapple. Acidity was a little soft but quite satisfying. I'm not convinced it was a successful pairing with shrimp and grits, but, other than a Rose or Champagne, I'm not sure what would have worked better.

Pnp, med straw yellow in color. Quite closed showing only some citrus note. On palate, it is mineral driven, steely not giving much but looming behind are potential of floral, saline and finesse. Should give it some time.
