More advanced than the 2000 Pape Clement served next to it, this presents - not surprisingly - as very approachable and more simple in constitution than the PC. Nonetheless, a nice study in contrasts. This would likely be a crowd favorite in most settings as opposed to the PC, but that would suit me fine as it would mean more (of the PC) for me. And it's all about me ;D recommended.

Double decanted at 9am, served non-blind at 7pm.; now and the next 5-7 years

Dry White Bordeaux at its best!
Clean, fresh and bright with citrus, orange zest, fresh herbs, minerality, honey and wax in a complex, fascinating and very present wine.

Wow. That was an impressive white Pessac-Leognan. Deep, intense color, with lemon, wild honey, beeswax and minerality aromas. Still very young, I would have guessed it was maximum 10 years old. Would love to revisit in 2025.

Classically elegant Graves, with plenty of life in it. Paired perfectly with lamb chops.

Drank a glass at Le Grand Vigne. Smoother on the nose and palate. Quite complex with minerals, acidity and dryness being complemented by fruitiness. Pretty darn good

K&L Bordeaux Tasting (K&L Hollywood): Very nice. Intense on the nose with mint/honeysuckle and showing some stony notes. Lots of fruit too. Intense on the palate with serious body, but well-balanced acidity. Soft, very clean finish with some grapefruit-pithlike bitterness.

This together with 2012 Smith Haut-Lafite were by far the best two whites of the round. Peaches and flint nose. Rich but balanced with fresh, crisp dominating acidity today. A long lovely finish. 93-95p range

Lovely, moderately expressive fragrance with floral and balsamic notes: pine tree, cedar wood, leather and berries. Cool fruit with fine sweetness and round and harmonious taste which lingers on. Very fine.

The apparent TCA that marred this bottle immediately upon opening was not perceptible a few hours later when this finally put on some fruit weight to match the classic cigar ash and woodsmoke bouquet.

Dark and brooding at present, moderately expressive but complex fragrance with elegant and exiting aromas of meat, earth, herbs, red berries. Focused cool fruit with extraordinary length and tight finale. Very promising, and will probably reach maturity in 5-10 years.

Les Monts Damnes and mature White Bordeaux: Less complex and intense as previous bottles, probably because it was compared to wines of similar wines. Superb, complex nose of intense vanilla and menthol herbality.

I've had this a few times before, and it's always a thrilling ride in a time machine to a different era in winemaking. Alas, this bottle was mildly corked, mostly showing on the bouquet. The TCA was low enough that we actually enjoyed most of the bottle, as the fruit was still clean. Shame though.

All great athletes are subject to the effects of time and injury, and in the instant case, this had a touch of TCA/TBA that distracted on the nose, but showed its pedigree - and fortitude - on the palate with virtually no TCA at all. Moreover, thanks to the strength of the fruit and vintage, it was able to rise above its defect and provide pretty remarkable enjoyment in the mouth and on the finish. It's not fair to think that this might be representative, but if it were, it's most certainly time to drink as this window is closing sooner than later. I had to leave before the bottle was emptied, but I have to think the remainder was quite drinkable and that none ended up down the drain.

Decanted for sediment and returned to bottle, served single-blind one hour later.

Complex dark fruit, very dense aromas. Ready to drink as it's already quite mature, round and supple. Cigarbox and earthy notes but with a fruity backbone to match. Really likeable with a very good balance and nice long finish. 93-94p.

Fait suite à la dégustation du 15.03.2015 (bouteille à problème ?).
Il ne fait aucun doute que la bouteille dégustée le 15.03 présentait un problème de mise. La nouvelle dégustation :
Belle couleur grenat profond, ocelle rubis.

Does not show it's age at all, bright yellow with gold reflects, really nice nose of lemon, orange zest and touch of grapefruit. There's really nice herbal component with mint and fennel seed to complete the profile. Still a baby, acid backbone is amazing and blind would have not tough that great wine has 10 years. Should continue to blossom over the next 5 years and live for a long time.

Lovely classic, old world, aged claret. Tobacco character without greenness.

Lacks the concentration of more recent vintages, but also, thankfully, is lighter more graceful.

Drink over the next 10 years.

Sealed with a high quality cork. 13%
