No change since last bottle. Still a wonderful drink. Good tannic grip as well as fruit.

From a bottle personally purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this deep garnet wine excites from the get-go. With a complex bouquet centered around a core of dark plum fruit, it adds cigar box, saddle leather, tree bark, truffle and loamy earth aromas. Medium-bodied and with low-to-medium acidity, it follows with flavors that mirror the nose. The tannins have resolved and the wine's 12% alcohol is beautifully integrated. Layered and dense in the middle, it closes with a long, silky-textured finish. Well-cellared bottles of this fully mature Bordeaux should easily last through the remainder of this decade. Drink now-2020.

Light gold colour, nose of honeysuckle, pineapple and citrus. Then you taste it and this is outstanding. It's full yet zingy, rich and luscious, oaky and more citrus the finish is incredible. 95 points.

Elegant, medium bodied, forward style of Domaine de Chevalier, with sweet, fresh, bright cherries, spice, cassis and hints of tobacco to round things out. The blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, coupled with severe selection are a large part of what helped this wine become so successful in this difficult vintage.

Nice wine with average compelxity, give it some more years and there will be less vanilla (wooden barrel) and more balance.

Union Des Grands Crus de Bordeaux San Francisco. Nose of pencil lead, dusty earth, allspice, dark fruit, and plum, more of the same on the palate, medium/big body, open. fruity, rich tasting, lovely to sip, tasted three times, long, long finish, one of the top three red wines tonight, $48-buy.

UGC Bordeaux Tasting - 2013 Vintage (Bentley Reserve, SF): Intense and captivating nose. Tropical yet tensile. The grassy celery soda / key lime pie / oaked sauv blanc note is present as well. Moderate alcohol (I guessed 13.5% - it’s 13%). The 2011 was a bit warmer (14%). Acidity is long, lingering, and brings lots of light to the palate. 18 months in 40% new oak. This was an above-average year for whites in Pessac. Score: Around 9.

Fresh, vibrant citrus, grapefruit, lemon grass and stone on the nose. Richly textured, the wine has purity of fruit and freshness galore. This should drink well young and have the ability to age and evolve for years.

This was the second bottle I tried from my OWC of 2000, of which I tended to conclude that the wine of this good vintage year might have gone under hibernation. When the bottle was first opened, it smelled more earthy & leathery than berries. Breathed for almost 3 hours before drinking. The nose had improved with more fruit character. Smooth tannins but fairly rich texture on palate, with ripe berries, spices & earthiness. After 5 hours being breathed in bottle, the nose picked up markedly with very elegant & fragrant berries, which resembled a matured Bordeaux red. Nevertheless, flavours deteriorated on palate with less fruit & more acidity. Decided to store longer to check if it will evolve.

I think that this is my favorite 2013 red Bordeaux! Modern in style, with old bordeaux bones, this is a thick, fat wine for the vintage with gobs of fruit compared to its vintage mates. Aromas of coffee and earth lure you in for a well balanced wine that is drinking well and has very good aging potential. This is the buy of 2013 for me. Drink or Hold...

UGC 2016 (Chicago, IL): Very clear toast and char on the nose. Not a good sign. The same toastiness on the palate makes this quite unenjoyable for me. Some red fruits and bright acids, but just not good.

UGC 2016 (Chicago, IL): Quite potent pineapple tones on the nose. There's lots to like on the palate, except for an awful astringency that comes from the heavy-handed oak use. Here's hoping it ages and mellows out.

Pale yellow green color. Nose complex and interesting with gooseberry, honey, straw, beeswax and oyster shell. Palate quite intense with excellent texture and length. Terrific minerality on the finish balances the wine. Very good bottle of mature Graves.
