Halleluja. After a bunch of flawed bottles, I finally got a good one again, this time from Magnum. Notes of red and darker berries, some meat, roasted bone marrow, also some pepper and spices, and garrigue. It‘s pretty full-bodied, with good persistence, has medium acidity and some lower-medium tannin. There might be a touch of volatile acidity, but it‘s in check and not as dominant as in some of the last bottles. Good lenght. Very good CdP.

Under composite cork. Pnp. Medium magenta colour. Clear and bright. Lifted bright red fruits on the nose. Sour cherry, red currant, boysenberry, red plum and delicate fresh garrigue. Medium bodied, good fruit extract, soft tannins and squeeky acidity. Lots of crunchy red and purple fruit, definite oak influence, garrigue and nice astringency on the long, sappy, dry finish. Nice fruit replays!Leaves your tongue tingling between the acid, tannins and astringency. Feels a bit heavy handed on the oak, but I do like this. Not built to last IMO so enjoy while it is in the exuberant fresh phase!

Acidic and tight. Purchased on release and stored in a temperature controlled cellar. Running it through an aerator helped a bit.

Decanted about two hours. This was ripe but not as overdone as I might have expected. Nose and palate had cherries, black fruits, garrigue, and tobacco. Some animalic funk lent a welcome rusticity to the wine. This should age and develop longer, and the 15% abv wasn't too obtrusive.

Wonderful full-bodied wine. #2 in wine tasting behind an Outpost cab and essentially tied with a '13 Reva. Lots of fruit, integrated, fairly smooth.

Opened and poured, then finished on day two. Ripe raspberry, fresh blueberry, garrigue, roobios tea and crumbling rock. There’s a panoramic entry and a focused, long, juicy finish. The middle is round. Very open and the tannins are feathery, yet there’s cut. A medium to full body. A gorgeous showing. Drink now - 2036.

With a strong floral characteristic, the wine quickly moves you to its core of raspberries, crushed stone, and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, sweet, soft, supple, elegant and energetic, with a sweetness and purity to the kirsch from start to finish. The wine blends 90% Grenache, 8% Syrah and 2% Mourvedre. Drink from 2022-2033.

Solid CDP. Full bodied, tannins well integrated, quite complex with lots of herbs, dark berry, licorice, spice, pencil shavings. A touch high on the alcohol, but it's not too intruding. Drink now.

Black as night in the glass but showing a little hint of brick on the rim. First whiff is massive with loads of black fruit, But also layers of crazy manliness. Wild, unbridled, hefty and almost brash. Notes of iron filings, dried violets, raw meat, bloody, gamey, and feral.
The tannins are still so tight and wound up making this wine shockingly young despite its age. Will be better in 10 years.

Big, juicy, and dark. First thought was too young but decanted after that first glass and it opened up quite well. Lots of dark raspberry and blackberry and very grenache forward. Creamy texture but maintains nice acidity. Yeah it's 15% and you can feel it, certainly the next day, but at today's going rate that's kinda normal for CdP. Good value.

Pretty translucent ruby. Luscious raspberry, strawberry, kirsch, fresh thyme, stone/minerals. Nice restraint, not big/over-extracted. Really nice, unfortunately can't buy more locally, it was a Garagiste purchase.

Annual Caroling & Chili Party (R&D's): Light color. Currant, macerated red berry and garrigue notes. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, with soft tannin and acidity in support of red berry fruit. Hints of garrigue and spice in the finish. Picks up a slight medicinal quality as it sits. (R&D)

No more moaning about having to blaze the trail, for I now accept that it is my lot to go first, to ride point. As a cuirassier type (though with distinctly Flashman proclivities), I choose to stride (canter? - oh my balls!) boldly, showing nothing but nonchalance. The first review? I think nothing of it.

2021 as we all know was a cooler, more damp vintage but the southern Rhone is sunny territory and the south was generally strong for Napoleon and so the wine gods shine on it.

I enjoyed the 2020 and in many ways it was the superior vintage but what I love about this vintage is the rather pure, lifted Grenache. Strawberry, raspberry and rose are the perfume and they are really quite gorgeous. Unbidden, except by this glorious aroma, the story of Marie Walewska comes to mind. This stunning creature was the lover of Napoleon, a committed Polish patriot at a time when that didn't mean being a bigoted Opus Dei type, a woman of intelligence and character who remained close to Napoleon's cause and ideals.

Marie was fated to be a creature of the shadows; Napoleon adored her and there is evidence he was sympathetic to the cause of an independent Poland, but he was also trying to compose a general peace in Europe and that meant making concessions to Russia, Prussia and Austria, the empires that had conquered and partitioned Poland. One of the reasons I have a problem with the idea of Napoleon as war maker (aside from the empirical fact that most of the wars were not started by him), is that his story is replete with attempts to make compromise peace treaties; it nearly ended his career in 1797, for example). This wine will probably be a little like Marie, overshadowed by greater and/or better-known wines despite its own evident qualities.

There is some meat on the bones of this wine, just as women of this time were not the skin and bones of today and it comes in the form of a hint of prune and roast meat, but it is the perfume that dominates. Sometimes the lesser years are the 'betterer' years.

Like Mont Redon, this strikes me as being a winery on the move and like Marie it may be that the ambition, the hope and the passion are what survive. My favourite wine on a weekend of very enjoyable and interesting wines.
