Rather full bore and I certainly felt the 14.5% alcohol this time out.

On day two just a touch more open, but just a touch. Burly is the word. So needs some time to rest up from shipping would be my guess.

Just a little shy right now but also just shipped. A little reticent on the palate as well. Andrew notes that its a huge wine. Better with sitting in the glass and swirling. Not quite as rounded down as my cellar aged ones but the stuffing is all there.

Also just a touch reticent on the nose. And wood. So probably just shipped. Palate is more harmonious, well not quite. Again, I think just shipped. Not quite as harmonious with its wood, acidity, and fruit as it has been in the past. Knowing this producer time will bring it down.

A bit disappointed. Still some fruit, little complexity, good mouthfeel. I have had better Rhones for the money.

Nice raspberry spicy nose, quite a full mouthful with smooth tannins and spot on acidity, very nice drink, 80% grenache blend, still fresh and will keep but to me as good as it will get.

Color: Medium ruby (noticeably light).

Nose: Light cherry and herbal garrigue aromas. Not very complex, but still lovely.

Pal: Light bodied, very filigree. Soft tannins. 14.5% alc.

This reminds me of a village-level Chambolle-Musigny. Light, tender, filigree; but with Côtes du Rhone flavor profile.

88 pts.
Optimum drinking window: 2022 -2023. Serve at 58° to 60°.

My last note, late winter, indicated seasonal depression (yes, it affects wine, too!) Now: open windows, cool breeze, June—this drink is an exhibition of mineral transparency combined with velvet, spiced berries. Easy, accessible, glazed with espresso and menthol. The chew is made of tense, sweet, sticky little red and black berries. Projections of scorched thyme, mocha, chalk, brackish cress, and poppies breathe lightly. The finish is a residue of appetizing bitterness.

Côtes du Rhône Dinner (Bernal Heights, San Francisco): Aromas of white flowers, a soft layer of tree bark, very interesting note of dry sand, subtle straw, pear skins, bright yellow fruits with some spice. The flavors show a deeper, ripe pear note with a pleasing soft spice, dark mineral and bitterness from stems. The spice in a white is somewhat new to me, I rarely get it in whites but this was nice. This was missing some acidity which made it seem a bit flat. Not that it needed it as it was still very enjoyable but it would've brought some liveliness to it.

Open 48 hours. NOSE: mute, desiccated fruit solids. Iodine. MOUTH: pulpy, sappy fruit in a state of annular eclipse. Tannins are ripe, youthful, and proportioned. Chewing it releases a confident balance of berry acids, cumin, iron leaf, Indian coffee, and licorice tissue. The chunky, cobbled, adhesive, tannic finish blooms with airy mint. It's clearly in a half-dumb phase, possibly instigated by seasonally cold, passive cellar temperatures. 90+ points—but to be fair, I must pledge to open another one in six months.

Notes of honeysuckle, verbena, and tangerine on the nose. Limpid yellow color on the pour...The palate was quite rich for a village level offering with sensations of pineapple, lemon, and assorted tropical fruit. Nice paring with branzino and fresh string beans. Great QPR here

I like this wine in most vintages but this one really hit my Rhône sweet spot. Nice fruit/acid balance, fresh and juicy. Fine tannins extend the finish and make you want to take another sip. Great value.

Just opened and a little bit blocky on the nose. But I think its going to be there! More serious and more structured than one might think. Just shipped and a little bit tight right now. Much more structured than I remember. The Molly Dooker shake opens it up a bit.

Decanted, still hard as a rock. Fragmented. Much better second day, and the fruit began to show. Not complex, lacks finesse. If I had another bottle, I'd wait another two or three years.
