2013 Domaine de Terrebrune (Bandol) Bandol Terre d'Ombre

Mourvedre Blend, Mourvedre more

Dark red with slight orange hue. Ripe funky red and black fruit. Blueberries, blackberries plums. There is some real animal funk on the nose. Bright and juicy with soft tannins light acidity. Really delicious. Kermit Lynch does know southern France. $16? I love it.

Consistent with previous notes last summer, except a more pronounced lemon curd note and overall creaminess has emerged. Very lovely rose. Was a nice pair with seared ahi tuna and cedar plank king salmon off the grill.

As others have noted, a lot of bright and juicy cherry with some underlying "animale" notes. Not terribly complex, but interesting in a mid-weight kind of way. No rush here.

Opulent nose, big dark fruits, some rustic brambly notes, drying tannins still on the finish. I don't think I've ever had a Bandol red before, blind I would have guessed something like a relatively young dry creek zin. Edit: this totally fell apart on day 2 (left corked on the table), so methinks you drinkup.

At Barbounia in Flatiron with Bill V. First experience with this wine, and limited prior tastings of Bandol. Splash decanted and drank over 90 minutes.

Red/magenta, translucent and light color. Nose was black cherry, red fruits, faint herbs. Palate was savory, red fruits, cherry, pepper/spicy.

This is a nice casual wine, primal with a medium finish. Went well with the middle eastern fragrant spiced cuisine. Nothing profound but very enjoyable. Would be great Summer BBQ or patio wine...

Pale salmon. Lovely nose of sea air and orange with a hint of pepper. Tangy acids on the entry to the palate, precise core of blood orange on the middle, a little bite on the long finish. Balanced and correct, excellent with a salade nicoise. 50 + 17 + 17 + 8.

Smells of earth, meats, and herbs. Full bodied and with Mourvedres funk in the mid palate. Then muscular on the the finish. Delicious wine.

Seems a bit tired & past prime (or doesn't have the right balance for long aging). Notes of candied fruit showing alongside barnyard, with a very smooth body that makes it seem lighter than it is. Actually pretty nice until it falls apart on the finish. The good tastes fade rather quickly, leaving a surprisingly long bitter finish.

I loved this wine but I think I should have had it two years ago. It's still holding up well but like Muscadet letting it age makes it rounder. I think I would have liked it better with a little more vibrancy. Aging doesn't add depth that I could tell.
It is just pure minerality. Very clean. Lots of white fruit, more peaches than applies, and slightly floral. Nice, elegant finish.
I had this with Super Bowl vegetarian pizza but I really wanted some seafood. A Kermit Lynch import.

dark and beastly, dried flowers and ripe black cherries on the nose, dried fruit on the palate, with nuances of tree bark, smoke, herbs, soil and anise, nicely developed, complex and engaging on the palate, dry, this is Bandol, this is terroir, and most importantly, this is a pleasure to consume if you enjoy a rustic wine, drink up

My wife was making chili so I was looking for something hardy to go along, but did not want to mail it in and go the Zinfandel route, so I grabbed this. I am glad I had a taste of it before eating--inky and brooding with cassis, blackberry, and a bit of earth. On the palate, a bit stewed, but otherwise a well-rounded, solid example of Malbec. As for the chili? Whoa, it was so spicy that the wine was not even an option. Yes, my wife has been properly chastised....thedrunkencyclist.com
