Pale yellow color, baby powder aroma and sweetness on the palate. More sweetness than I remember from my previous bottle/vintage, but not unpleasant.

Light gold in the bottle, somehow paler in the glass. Racy, tart aroma, rich mouthfeel and a touch of...sweetness?! Was worried at first, but this worked really well with some garlic teriyaki salmon on couscous pilaf with a side of moussaka. Cut through the onions and garlic, had a bit of sharpness and left me very satisfied indeed.

Pairing Suggestions: sushi, in particular eel rolls, spider crab, spicy tuna etc. Regular pairings of fish and chips, broiled white fish will apply here as well.

What better celebratory wine than... Medium dry Vouvray? Hey, this is a true wine geek’s grape, to quote one esteemed instructor. It ripens unevenly, the flavours can morph all over the place from steely to smoky to plush tropical fruit, and the grape can yield successful examples of ANY white wine style, given the right conditions. Loire valley nod right here, with the residual sweetness right where it needs to be. Palate and nose are full of lush yellow and green pears, honeydew, kiwis, candied apple (the red candy coating, not caramel), greenish bananas (perhaps made into a creme pie), lemon meringue (again with the pie) nutmeg and allspice, marzipan, and honeysuckle. If you want to get technical, this is high acid, just a hair above low alcohol at 11.5%, full bodied, and built to last if not improve with time.

This *might* have been our second Chenin Blanc, so take what follows with a grain of salt. And we should note, we're not fans of sweeter wines.

Pale straw in the glass with a degree of viscosity when poured. On the nose, citrus and…freshly cleaned pool? On the palate we got pulpy melon and pineapple. Unctuous and sweet with some minerality on the finish a slight acidity that doesn’t quite balance the sweetness. Nice wine for the price ($15) that inspires us to further explore Chenin Blanc, albeit one slightly drier than this de Vaufuget.

as much a QPR from France as there ever was. When you buy a sub-$15USbote if off-dry Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, you hope for, but don't expect they quality that you see from Domaine Huet or Boumard. However it's quite surprising how many wines from this area as well as the bulk of Blanc wines from the LoireValkey both Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, that put quality wine into off-dry Blanc wines that can compete with anybody globally. Fresh fruits, minerals and acidity that do well laid down in q cellar for a couple of years and no deterioration and actually some fruit/acid/mineral integration happens. Really such a crowd pleading wine on Bastille day. Orchard fruits both Apple and pear with a touch of green melon with rind. A treat under $20US.

Great qpr Vouvray. Off dry with full fruit and nice mineral and acid to hold it up, with brats and kraut. A strange pairing, but it worked well. No beer was on hand, so this fit in a strange gap.

I need to buy another case of this. so good for $11. Love straight imports at century and Whitehouse. Virginia's Old Country vintner. Think Huet and other good off-dry Chenin Blanc. Watching Scent of a Woman, does it get any better than this?

Wow, what a great qpr, considering the hail that hit Vouvray during this vintage.

Pale Yellow in color, just a bit darker than straw, makes this wonderful young wine terrific as a go to for summer. Bright acidity and mineral backbone balances this off-dry white wine perfectly. The residual sugar makes this a little less sweet than a sec wine, but the acidity keeps the mouth watering. Juicy quince, green pear and a hint of just under-ripe honeydew or cassava melon. Really enjoyable with cajun spiced chicken breasts served with cous-cous with pine nuts and olive oil. Broccoli medley on the side. I am going to go back and try to get the rest of this as this is for drinking young as its in clear bottles with faux cork, but one of the better looking faux corks. I had to check it up close.
