Pale gold color. PNP, drank several glasses over 2 hours at a restaurant. As always this is such a nice bottle of wine. A steal on lists, comparatively speaking and for the quality you get. Very complex, the nose starts with a burst of citrus and sea shore minerality that follows through on the palate. Very fresh and crisp, a hallmark. Then the evolution of fruit begins, there's lemon and honeydew melon first, then apple, white peach, key lime and some grapefruit to go along with burgeoning white flowers. Good intensity and racy acidity that together with the slightly briny minerality envelopes the fruit. 91+pts.

Golden yellow. 5th time from my cellar. Still a beautiful sipper. Sea, shells, peaches and crisp apple on the nose and palate. Refined with balance and length. Delicious on a summer night on the deck.

Significantly better as it warms - this allows the quality fruit to show itself. The mineral, seashore and acidity is there, no problem - plenty of cut and bite - but the fruit needs a little help. Lemon curd, chalk, iodine, and an oregano or herbal spiciness that I enjoy, and is only noticeable with some air and warming. I still think this is young, but not sure - it's an interesting wine. A bit of a bruiser for a Muscadet, but I have to say, I like it. Very much like a dialed down, razor edged Barraud Pouilly Fuisse. No heat at all, and no degradation (though maybe some long term fade?) over three nights.

Three days later: After nursing this over three nights - a glass a night, letting it warm in glass - the very last sip was by far the best. Not a hint of oxidation, cracking up, heat or other indications of over-the-hillness. I've reached my verdict - this is very, very young, and a very very special white wine in that I've never had one improve so much on warming. Best at 65-70 degrees F, unbelievably, and behaves like a high quality red, yet with all the classic Muscadet notes. Beautiful complexity and very long finish. Wonderful wine, and glad I have lots more. I'd take this over an Aubert Chard (except maybe the Lauren) anyday, and this has TONS of upside. Upgraded to 93pts pure quality, 95pts personal preference

Melon and honey nose, savory minerality in the fruitful palate, with a crisp acid finish. Paired well with olive/aged gouda/salumi platter.

I recall my first bottle of 2012 Briords: electric. This Clisson isn't that--it's fuller and rounder, at least on day one. (Talk about terroir!) This bottle happened to be finished on day one so I didn't get to follow up on it. In my experience, Ollivier's wines only improve after they've been open for a day or two (or three), so I don't think I've seen this wine at its best. As far as first impressions go, I was definitely more wowed by the Briords. But I'll admit these wines both do marvelous things as time passes.

agree with others. this was very good with a mussel dish, but needs air or bottle age to mellow the acids a little. very nice now, will report back after a couple days in the fridge. Day 2 much creamier and fruity. Still has blistering acid but much more approachable.

Searing acidity as you'd expect. Needs to settle down a bit but will come with age. Love the fact that most people don't drink Muscadet, keeping the price down so I can buy more.

Not the best vintage of Briords (not as bracing or as intensely mineral) but still very good. I'd say drink or hold.

another great bottle. I love conventional Muscadet, but this is really a different wine. It smells a bit like a burg (it tastes more Loire) and has more weight than most Muscadet. Normally, a weighter wine with fish would not be my preference, but this has structure, presence and really develops with time. A regal wine.

Lemony and milky, lots of acid. I thought this showed just a bit softer and less bracingly mineral than previous bottles. But it disappeared in a hurry and was still excellent with a range of foods.

Like most Muscadets, this does nothing for me. The fruit/acid balance is correct, and this is pleasant enough to drink outside on a warm evening, but the fruit profile is simple and lemony and there's nothing remotely resembling the length and extract/chalkiness of the white wines I prefer. The QPR just isn't here, with so many domains producing excellent bougogne blanc with much more character and terroir transparency in the $20-25 range.

Bring on the oysters this is salty, citrus, malic, sour, and some are likely to call this a bit shrill with its searing acid though I am a fan, had decent depth, was waiting for this to this to flesh out which is usually the case for me with most Muscadets, a couple years in bottle couldn't hurt.

P&p. Smells great, with some real depth; combination of ocean brine/shellfish/seaweed, ginger, fresh pear, and pine needle. Similar on the palate; wonderfully oceanic/briny/saline/stony/mineral, accented by herbaceous pine needle, pear, and gingery-peppery spice, with good cleansing acidity, and some gently astringent bitterness (grapefruit? quinine?) developing toward the finish. Highly refreshing and thirst quenching, and at the same time fairly serious, complex stuff. Some silkiness to the texture, but not as creamy as I would expect from four years on lees; in any case, the body adds interest but is light enough not to interfere with the extreme drinkability. No food necessary; this makes a great aperitif on a warm summer evening. Very nice!

Light yellow/gold in the glass; "sea scents"on the nose, briny like you often get in Chablis.

Taut and crisp on the palate, but also coming across as somewhat dilute. Still, not bad, with a nice finish - hard to say right now where this might be heading given that hole in the mid-palate, but it's pretty likable right now.

Day 3 (stored open in fridge) this is really showy with great fruit and less sharpness. really nice!
