All red fruit with plenty of spice. Very forward and pleasant today, this shows a charming young vines lower intensity to me. Moderate depth.

Open approx one hour before serving. A perplexing bottle. This was a shadow of the same wine tried a few days ago also in Beaune. Fruit was faded and perhaps slightly tired. This didn't seem shut down, and didn't seem in need of getting more air. Certainly pleasurable, but not actually what I'd consider "correct." Served alongside rockstar Rouget 1997 Echezeaux.

Kicking off a week of anniversary celebrations: Powdery, pale red in the glass. The nose is pure aged Vosne with exotic spices, green herbs and light tobacco. and gentle tannins. On the palate the flavors are very subtle. It has obviously lost most of its fruit but has developed lots of complexity with wild mushroom, sweet fallen leaves, slightly tart cherry with a hint of orange and clove.
A treat.

Medium bright red in color, with a tone / hint of brown / aging edge. Clear.
Wonderfull nose, herb garden, gentle modest spices, soft sour red berries and an underlying tone of summer fresh sweetness, I can not stop to smell.
With a little time, a hint of forest floor, spring forest and wood.
A bit like the wines we had earlier witch you can not take away from the nose.
Nice fresh fruit, sour raspberry rolls through your mouth. Mild spices. Round fine tannins bites well at the end. Balanced, fit and medium complexity, medium deep.
It is certainly an enchanting wine, providing plenty of fruit, good varied tastes, exciting, with trilling corners in the taste picture. One should perhaps not use "but" in these cases, but I have to mention that it feels a little lighter than some of the ohter DRC I have tasted. One can feel a "great / super" burgundy in the glass, all though not taking it all the way to heaven, still very very close. This is like hammering through delicious meter-deep Norwegian westcoast powdersnow a cold january day, drop a 10m cliff, landing it as if it were no stress. And then you think back on the previous season, remembering the day when it was 10cm more snow, light as in Alaska and flying a little bit longer. This is still great.

Opened for 3 hours before drinking, dark red color, nose of red fruit and full panoply of spices and dried herbs. Everything is in the right place, perfect balance, in perfect harmony, just the right amount of fruit vs acidity. Iron fist in a velvet glove, infanticide for sure but can see the enormous potential ahead.

Dark red in color, beautiful mature burgundy nose with dark red fruit, spices and undergrowth. Palate showing ripe secondary flavors, with enough width but not enough depth. Drinking very well now and probably won't improve with more cellaring.

Dark red in color, took almost 3 hours to strut its stuff. Deep red flower nose with lots of spices with slight undergrowth, very ripe and not as secondary as I thought it would be. The finish is big and very long, wonderful and still got a long life ahead.

2010 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche

La Tâche Grand Cru Pinot Noir more

6/10/2015 - Ramberg wrote: 100 points

Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
Since one of the two La Tâche 2012 bottles opened tonight was corked (first time I have experienced a corked La Tâche) a bottle of 2010 was opened as “compensation”.
I have had this wine before, and it is without any doubt one of my top three wines, ever!
Last time I had it was 1,5 years ago, and this was surprisingly developed since then.
The color showed a much more advanced color than I would have ever expected, almost as if it was 10 – 15 years older than it is.
I perhaps guessed that this should be much less expressive and open than it showed.
The nose is to die for, with such depth and still such airy and clean, with sexy feminine bright red berries, perfume, transcendental & lovely red flowers, roses, rose petals, dusty dry quarry minerals, touch of pencil lead, deeper dark cherries.
Layer after layer of incredible perfume and scents.
Best nose in a young wine I have ever experienced.
Palate just roars of an exceptional Grand Vin.
The transparency and lightness in combination with the power and depth are beyond words.
The silky fruit, the spicy stems, the fine oak, the femininity together with the power and flesh of the fruit, in combination with the airy and transparent roses and flowers, the acidity and minerallity is of a kind and combination that can’t be describe in words, but has to be experienced.
This is perfection in a bottle, almost alien, completely of the charts intoxicating.
Advanced, but still young, in a weird combination, showing youth but also development.
A wine that I would drink any day, from today until the end of time.

Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
First time I have experienced a corked La Tâche was tonight, in one of the two bottles opened.
The other one was however just magic.
This is a Grand Vin!
Nose shows loads of spices, Vosne spices and Christmas spices, dusty flint stones and minerals, quarry, spicy oak, pencil shavings and pencil lead, lovely green stems, flowers and perfume.
An incredible deep and profound nose.
I could just have spent all night sniffing this fine La Tâche.
But I did not:
The palate showed fat and oily ripe fruit, super concentrated (without being the least extracted) and clean, deep and spicy.
The chalky fat minerals are just to die for, and the tannins, overall structure, and superbly clean acidity woven together makes a super & big 2012 La Tâche, with huge, huge potential and great length on the finish.
Young (of course) but lovely at this point!
Brilliant, with a brilliant & long future ahead!

Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir more

6/10/2015 - Ramberg wrote: 97 points

Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
The Richebourg, as I expected, are the complete opposite to the RSV, being a much less flirty wine at this point (following the pattern from the last maybe 7 vintages of DRC I have tasted up on release).
The nose is much more closed.
Still, lovely spices emerge with swirling, with dusty dry minerals, mocha, some new fine and expensive oak, smoke and again minerals.
Not much fruit profile are shown, but you can note some dark and deep cherries.
On the palate this is showing a little bit more, with fat & ripe red berries, tarter berries (cranberries and some pomegranate), dark cherries, cherry stones, minerals, touch oak spice, and some bitterness.
Tannins are there.
This is a big boy, with a superb structure and length.
This will need time and will emerge as a great Richebourg, of that I’m sure.
97 P for now.

Wow!
Another just amazing showing of the DRC RSV!
This wine is just getting better and better with every new vintage.
This is such a sexy, slender and graceful wine.
The nose is superbly sexy and seducing, full with lovely red airy flowers and perfume, so clean and intriguing.
It kind of sucks you in, and you just can’t stop sniffing it!
Red berries, airy and lingering, almost unreal, with fragrant raspberries, lovely minerals, and layer after layer of soft and transparent floral and dusty scents.
Amazing, again.
Palate is as good as the nose, with a core of sweet ripe lovely fruit wrapped in a shell of acidity.
Ripe & sweet strawberries and raspberries together with wild strawberries, showing some lovely fattiness and so very clean and refined.
This is a fabulous RSV, up there with the 2010.
Lovely and flirty, feminine and sexy, for immediate enjoyment, before it most likely will shut down in a year or so, to emerge again with secondary matureness a decade or more from now.
All in crazy good!
Balanced and structured, clean and ripe, with enormous transparency.
This is a must experience wine, that no words can describe.

Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
The Grands Échézeaux has a lovely nose, green and spicy, with stems, red floral perfume, dusty minerals and violets.
Fine ripe fruity nose, with deep and sweet berries showing.
The palate is a bit more polished and refined than in the Échézeaux, more feminine in its expression.
Still, this is denser and more concentrated, with dense sun ripe red fruit, great & high clean acidity, and overall fab. structure and balance.
A charming wine, with superb length and depth.
Among the finer showings in later years, perhaps only beaten by the 2010?
Again, young but lovely, with a long and great future ahead.
2012 seems to be a real top vintage from DRC. (95+ for tonight)

This is a fabulous showing from a new, hardly even released yet, Échézeaux!
Nose is big and amazingly concentrated with spicy deep ripe cherries, smoky minerals, animals, gunpowder and dusty flint stone, mocha, touch of earth and fine Vosne spices.
Palate shows clean both sweet and tart fat fruit, concentrated and deep, with minerals and some tannins & spicy bitterness on the very long finish.
A very fine Échézeaux, that without a doubt shows that this vineyard is worthy of its Grand Cru status, at least when the wine comes from this source.
Great young wine, with loads of potential!

6/10/2015 - Ramberg wrote: 93 points

Annual DRC tasting dinner in Stockholm, to check out the 2012’s.
The 2012 Corton are indeed a very charming wine.
Fine nose, with a touch of smoked meat, smoke, stems and herbs, some new oak and vanilla spices.
Red ripe sweet cherries and strawberries linger underneath.
On the palate this has a mixture of tart berries, lingonberries and cranberries, with sweeter ripe garden fruit, raspberries and strawberries, silky, velvety and refined.
Medium length and medium acidity, with some fat chalk present on the finish.
Again, a charming Corton indeed.
You can tell a big difference form the first vintage, that was very marked by the 100% new oak used as well as the 2009 (over) ripeness of the fruit.
This is a much more sophisticated & harmonious wine, that seems to become more and more balanced as the new oak decreases and the winemaking “learns” how to handle the harvest.
However, the 2010 are the best DRC Corton yet produced, in my opinion, tasted up on release.
This is very charming and ready for immediate enjoyment.
Will of course ad weight with cellar time, and has all the ingredients for improvement and a long life (93+ tonight).
