Better quality than my usual day to day bottle. Big and fruit forward but finishes long and smooth. Good complexity and appealing earthiness. Ever so slight harsh notes in the middle tempered by food. Can always count on Spain for great value.

By the glass at Salut MCR. Purple Crimson almost from core to rim almost saturated. Plum tar lick rice and a whiff of smoke on the nose. Medium weight with nicely polished tannins. Big black fruit flavours with a touch of dried sour cherry herbs and tar. Nice structure and balance. Great in its own would love to try with some grilled lamb chops.

One of our "go to" Spanish wines for about any kind of food. This time served with roast chicken followed by chocolates for dessert. Enjoyable and nicely priced.

Inky purple with strong minerality and plum on the nose. Very earthy and dark fruit on the palate with good tannic complexity at this price point. Fair acidity leads to a somewhat dry and flat finish, but a nice drinker with a smooth sophisticated feel at a great price point.

Lighter in style, gains some depth with time in the glass; unremarkable QPR at $16

Decanted for 2 hrs. Full bodied, great performance. Blackberries, nice acid, fine oak influances. Tertiair aromas. Nice wine.

Strong oak on nose, then dark fruit. More acid than tannin, good concentration and weight.

This wine is a baby. If you have a bottle, do yourself a favor and don't open it for at least a couple of years. Even after 2 hours of decanting the wine was tight as a drum. Blueberries and cherries on the nose with some hint of eucalyptus/mint on the back end. The mouth feel is sort of old world with a little new world touch to it. I was expecting totally new world. Finish is long and tannic. The deliciousness factor is not there but you know it is hiding and is going to come out. My score is based on what this wine is showing right now. It will easily evolve to be a 92+ point wine in a couple of years

Quite deep ruby, very pink at the edges.
The nose is just starting to show some development, the vanilla oak and clean red fruit flavour starting to change and evolve. More spices now - sweet spices, a little too christmassy! Something funky, then some earthy notes.
The dominant fruit has gone since first tasting 6 months ago - still fruity, but it finishes more quickly and tannins take over - astringent ones.
5 minutes in the glass and the tannins are starting to change slightly, a little more pleasant but there is still a bitterness... not a flawed bottle, but I think it has gone to sleep for now...
Will try again in a few months..

Amana Skiers: P/w short decant. Clear, deep dark purple/red. Some funk on nose and initial taste. A bit over extracted, earthy, dark tired fruit. $17

Needs an hour and the austerity goes away. Pleasant but not much length. Earth notes and tart cherry. Good with stew or something hearty. Can cellar more for sure.

soft, well balanced, ample fruit, good weight, subtle oak. If this had a little more punch and acidity it would be a real winner.

From 75cl, perfect cork, decanted 1 hour. Still closed and vividly tannic, this serious, ambitious, large scale RdD has some unusual meaty, fresh blood-like notes as well as the fruit/spice/wood characteristics noted by previous CT tasters latent in a package which I found a bit stern, even dour this evening. I would recommend holding another 2-3 years to let it open up, or a longer decant. 90(+?)

Still young and tannic. Not quite smooth and integrated on the palate and the alcohol is noticeable even after an entire day of decanting. The tannins are fairly prominent. Probably needs to be revisited in 3-4 years

To my taste, not as good as the 2012: Nose with greenish notes and a bit lacking in body and density compared to my memory of the 2012.

Drank at India's house on 12/30/2015.
Color: Crimson red.
Nose/Smell: A little expresso, dark chocolate, graphite and plums. After opening up for a couple hours some meaty notes appeared.
Palate/Taste: Started off a little fruity with plums and then had some dark chocolate. After opening up and breathing it became more savory. Moderate tannins (6/10) and moderate body. Most of activity in this wine occurs in the mid palate where it continues to develop. Dry (6/10) and moderate finish.
Opinion: This wine is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. We are trying to explore more wine regions. This is a well structured tempranillo that you can taste how the Cabernet Sauvignon adds to the structure of this wine, beefing it up a little bit. Delicious and need to grab a couple for some aging.

Solid spanish wine with some traditional flavors. More of a wine to enjoy with a meal than on its own. I don't see where this gets the 94 rating, though.

Notes of pipe tobacco and dark fruits. Good structure. Even after giving it some bottle aging and air, this wine remains rather austere. It's a good wine, but it just doesn't excite the palate.
