Light ruby. Fragrant red fruit and some floral notes. Medium weight. Supple, open, delightful ripe red fruit, some herbs, very little tannin, adequate acidity. Very feminine style and full of current enjoyment if not at all profound or mysterious. In fact, I might have called it a Nebbiolo level bottling had I tasted it blind. No complaints, though.

80% Barbera, 20% Nebbiolo. The name means "six rows" from the top six rows of Barbera vines. Powerful, dark fruits, some tar. Rich but balanced. Very good.

The fruit is darker in tone than the 2010 Manzola. Darker color, more expressive nose. Some tar and licorice. Tasty.

Seemed to have good bones and early signs of sophistication, but today it was simply too austere and one-dimensional to rate any higher.

Very refined nose of rose petals, hazelnut and good structure. This is a medium bodied wine offering very good PQR.

Is Barbaresco actually better than Barolo? This wine at least could make one pose the question. While Barolos often are like a science experiment, this wine has a warmth and charm to it missing from its Germanic brethren in Piedmont ( as I said in another review, I consider Barolo to really be THE German red wine par excellence but in Italian garb, it is just Germanic to the extreme ).

This wine was maybe vegetal at first, with something slightly sour or flat to the taste. The next day it had transformed into an atmospheric and vinous masterpiece with a perfect melding of flavors in the dark spectrum. Flowing and velvety, warm and Chambolle-like, though I've only had one cheap Chambolle... Like night distilled into the glass. By the way, I love the label, but a friend considers this to be a lapse of taste.

A Total Wine direct import (like most wines at Total Wine). For the price it's an enjoyable drink, and this was a vintage of high temperatures so it's ready to drink. So open knit and fleshy, I didn't find it intriguing. Maybe some more time will do it good, let all that fruit settle down.

This is a wonderful offering from the truly great Nada Fiorenzo.
It is very young, but already very drinkable. Lots of air opens it perfectly. Two hours of decanting and drunk over several hours it just keeps opening with voluptuous dark fruit and herbal balsamic notes.
Firm, cool, clean, deep dark fruit and a weightlessness as the usual NF signature.
If the house is unfamiliar - this is the place to start.

First slightly muted, opens up with some time in the glass. High-pitch notes of red berries, a lot of minerality, some flowers, some sweet spices. It's still very primary right now but very promising. On the palate there are notes of red fruit again, some tobacco, a lot of minerality and some spices. It's medium-bodied but dense, with medium+ tannin and medium+ acidity providing structure and freshness. Good length. When popped and poured it tasted a little light, but it put on significant weight and density with some air. So from that perspective I think it would make sense to wait 3-5 more years until it put on some more weight and additional complexity. It's already very pretty right now though.... so pace yourself. (93+)

Extraordinary Dolcetto.
Deep dark red with violet brim. Medium to full bodied with silky texture and outstanding balance.
Shows a nicely layered profile and a wonderfully juicy midpalate stands out. Notes of sour cherries, tons of spices, a little dust and liqorice.
Highly recommended if you are into dolcetto

Deep crimson in color. Interesting, unusual nose that strikes me as somewhere between Barolo, Brunello, and Bordeaux. It has some of the floral cherry character of nebbiolo, the earthy sour cherry of sangiovese, and the rich, oaked black cherry and cedar of a cabernet/merlot blend. There’s something roasted and herbal about it as well, like a beef stew. Definitely smells different from anything I’ve previously encountered from Piemonte. The nebbiolo side shows strongly on the palate, with firm, powerfully dry tannins and flower-backed sour cherry leading the way. The cedary, woody character is still there, though, and if it weren’t for the color, I could see confusing this with sangiovese. There’s some smoke wafting about as well, and the finish is reassuringly stern and palate cleansing. Not too heavy despite the concentration and alcohol level (14%), but it is a masculine, somewhat brooding wine, which is still showing quite young at eight and a half years of age.

Powerful Barbera and as usual from Fiorenzo - elegant and beautifully balanced.
Has a slight sweetness from nose to finish which is matched by lively/vibrant acidity and laid back tannins. On this enjoyable journey you meet ripe red and dark berries, chocolate, flowers, sweet mint and a touch of liqorice root.

Have now had it three times. The second time after having had his barbaresco 2010 and his barbaresco manzola 2008. Must say that he has his own style. It is very defined and elegantly feminine. This langhe is boosting with red berries, tobacco, terroir and a little camphor in an outstanding depth. This has become my preferred langhe. Recommended

Medium red and clear in the glass with prominent brown/orange hues. Wonderfully fragrant with roses, anise, and black fruit notes. Red fruit, anise, tobacco on the palate, supported by fine, chalky tannins and moderate acidity. Long powdery finish. There are also some beautiful cocoa/coffee notes.

I agree with SEPSIS, that this one is perhaps richer than other Barbarescos. But it still is quite firm and has the quality of weightlessness and elegance that makes Barbarescos so appealing to me.

Delightful, Powerful, and Subtle.

The top Barbaresco from Fiorenzo is very rich and potent, but still elegant and defined as the rest of his cuvées. Fruit is opulent, deeply dark and interlaced with layers of herbs and sweet spices. Finish is insisting with leather, menthol and loads of liqorice. Almost a shame to drink it now as it is very young. Don't miss it.

Beautiful blend of the best Barbera(80%) and Nebbiolo(20%) grapes from NF. It is refined and has a extraordinary clear and dark expression. It is like every stroke is painted on a clean canvas. Tannins are silky and acidity is pure. Wonderful spices, mint, roses, leather etc. give the overtones to the ripe plum and blackberries. Should evolve over the next decade or so. Highly recommended

Breathed this almost 3 hours before serving. Ruby red color with a brick red rim. The oak was prevalent in the nose with some layers of red fruit beneath. Rich, full bodied. Tart cherry flavors with a strong spicy oak component. This shows good intensity & has a solid structural identity, but lacks a bit in the mid palate. There is definitely too much oak character.id be interested to try a different vintage from this producer to learn if the ripeness is from the 2003 character or just the house style.

Spicy and toasted notes of mocha and cacao, integrated into a more fruity character (blueberry, currant), with a background of violet, mint and licorice. Hot and velvety at palate; wrapping. Long finish. Certainly not a traditional Barbaresco, but eventually a good wine, not over-oaked.

Even ruby. Pretty lean, austere and mineral when poured at slightly too cool a temperature. Once it warmed, though, some sharp cherry fruit and a bit of ground coffee underneath. Good.

Pop and pour. Initial reactions...spicy herbs, salty meat, menthol, shoe leather, blood from red meat, dark black cherries. Initial palate subdued but yet experssion fruit of cherries, dark chocolate. Think it needs more air time so I will reserve score until after dinner. So far struggling for a 92...more like 90. Back soon.

With dinner, ok, 1 hour later the wine smoothed but was still somewhat muted in aromatics. Flavor profile was enhanced. I can't really tell the future of this wine but it may improve I just don't know. Still very nice, don't like 14.5 ABV and usually it is more balanced in European wines than California but this wine showed the alcohol.
