Good-not-great. Pronounced lactic/acidic note that I find off-putting. I don't perceive any benefit to further ageing, so Drink Now.

Strictly average Stout, but man, cannot beat the price! No way this would be a go-to beer but WAY cheaper than its peers. Also posting a NV note as haven't decided if it wouldn't be better just to have NV when it comes to beer. Vintage certainly helps w/ drinking window, but kinda like the idea of all the tasting notes together...

A bit thin, i was hoping for more fullness and oatmeal in this but I'm just getting a light-bodied bourbon-barrel stout. Emphasis on the bourbon barrel. If you like the latter this will most likely score higher with you.

One of the best beers I've had, somewhat reminiscent of the Goose Island Bourbon Country Stout, albeit less heavy than the barrel aged stout, more balanced, and thus more food-friendly. 93-94 points

Very good. Dominated by creamy and caramel oak notes, this is about as complex as a beer can get. The head on it was very light and disappeared quickly, which probably enhanced the richer notes but also made the alcohol a bit more pronounced. This is delicious, but strays away from the traditional notion of a beer. I split this with a friend and while I really liked it, I wasn't chomping at the bit for a second glass.

This stuff is harder to get than a Schrader Cab!

This bruiser clocks in at 14% (as opposed to 13% for 2013) but you still can't tell there's any alcohol anywhere until you're about half-way through the bottle and it hits you - whoa.

There is a lip-smacking goodness/stickiness to this that just keeps drawing me in for another sip. I'll delineate it as I do my wines:

---
COLOR: Brownish-black, opaque, with a deep brown rim and a burnt caramel head that leaves a nice lace on the side due to the high glycerin/alcohol.
NOTE: Nose initially smells like the outside of a burnt marshmallow beside a campfire, all that crispy sweet goodness waiting inside. Then it reveals loads of espresso, dulce de leche, molasses, melted dark chocolate, nutmeg, hints of cinnamon, tar and a little leather. The mouth is thick and rich, heavy with glycerin. Loads of creamy espresso, malt, candied orange peel, crème fraiche and chocolate covered cherries linger. The finish carries most of the same notes, especially bitter cocoa, but also includes an acidic snap (from the hops?) that keeps the sweetness in check and ultimately provides a clean palate that requires another sip. Finish is about 60 seconds long, maybe more. This is magic, again, and I'm glad I fought tooth-and-nail to get 10 bottles. I'll try this again with some slow-cooked baby back ribs this Friday and post another note.

Man, this was just a shade behind the 16th we had a few weeks back. It lost its carbonation very quickly and seemed to be just a little flat as a result. Has the same familiar flavor profile as the Parabola and the 16th. Remarkable "beer"!

Even more amazing than the 2012 Parabola. It hits all the same buttons, just more completely and with a super-long finish. You can taste this thing minutes later. It's a sipping, contemplative beer that contains loads of caramel, mocha, dark chocolate, licorice, leather. It's now the best beer I've ever had in my life.

Wow, I think this a great drink but booze and barrel definitely take the forefront here. Big barrel nose and a big boozy finish. Really well done though, if you like whiskey and beer you'll like this! Might benefit from a couple years in the cellar for some evening out though?

I'm a wine guy, but my brother-in-law showed me a bottle of this that he was cellaring and then I had the fortunate circumstance to be enjoying a meal at Babe's BBQ in Rancho Mirage when, lo and behold!, they were offering the 2013 (#4) bottling of Parabola. I jumped on the chance to try it and it was amazing with the pork ribs, sweet potato with butter and pecans and cornbread. This "beer" (it's 13%ABV) isn't so much a beer as it is an elixir of sorts. Even Stacy said it didn't taste like beer. It is a wonderful mélange of espresso, dark chocolate, anise, dried root vegetables, molasses, nutmeg and other roasted spices. Wow! I was half way through a 22oz bottle when I decided to look at the ABV. No wonder why my head was fuzzy! You'd never know it had 13%. Unbelievably smooth, just a pleasant amount of bitterness. I found 4 at BevMo today and bought them all. If you like tannic wines, try this bad boy. You may be surprised at how much this transcends any beer experience you've ever had.

Fresh mango, forest floor, smoke, soap, citrus, earth, and some grain on the nose. Fruity hops, malt, citrus peel, and earth on the palate. Quite bitter, but it's well-balanced. Good finish.

2011. Color is awesome. Bleeds slowly from brown, amber, ruby, orange, yellow. Aristocratic beer. Sublime in the level of subtlety amongst such muscle. Definitely boozy, but comes across matter of fact instead of pushy. Any specific identifying evaluations of the nose and palate don't do it justice. Figs, baking cinnamon rolls, s'mores, vanilla, plums. These elements are so unique, high-caliber, interesting and well-integrated that you just have to try this. Extremely complex. Overt alcohol. Unique.

Unreal. These guys are KILLING it. This was loaded with caramel, creme brulee, toffee, vanilla, coffee and chocolate, with a hint of red fruits. Unbelievably textural and rich but still extremely focused. The complexity and nuance were like nothing I've ever had in a malt beverage. One of those ethereal experiences that I hope to repeat in the near future.

TOP of 2011; 1/1/2011-12/1/2011: Insanity. Almost anything you could think of and want in a beverage. Super rich but still light and elegant. Cedar, vanilla bean, smoked salmon, brown sugar, tip top dark chocolate and red raspberries. Not a drop of heat. Incredibly fresh for a beer containing 4-5 year old ales. An autolysis 8-bit Mike Tyson knocking out Joe Lewis. This is the real deal.

This is the best beer I've ever had, hands down. The level of complexity and nuance is mind blowing. Ethereal vanilla, roasted malts, toasty oak and espresso, this was overwhelmingly fragrant and textural. Just the right amount of bitterness to keep this from getting heavy or cloying.
