A bit thin, even with an hour decant. Not bad, I was just hoping for more given the reputation of the winery.

Very pleasantly surprised with this as a kind replacement bottle from the winery. Fruit was still nice and round with some tertiary favors coming through. Quite impressed with how this aged. I would have been hard pressed to say this was 13 years.

West of West Wine Festival (West Sonoma Coast Vintners) (City Winery - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Red berry aromas and flavors woth good background spice. Slightly leaner than most with good structure and textures. Firm for now, give this another year or three.

Deep ruby in color and flaunting aromas of spicy raspberries, pickling spice, earth and black tea, this wine is yet another amazing iteration of the Flowers Sonoma Coast blend. Medium-bodied and with crisp acidity, it has light-to-medium sweet tannins and unnoticeable alcohol (despite being listed as 13.9%). Rich and deep in the middle, it closes with impressive length. Flowers should be on the radar of any oenophile who enjoys top-notch Pinot from the New World. Bravo!!! Drink now-2022.

This is ready to drink and it's delicious. On the nose its ripe bing cherries, a touch of vanilla and Forrest floor. The palate is all of that plus smooth tannins, juicy acids, and a nice follow through. The wine is silky smooth. It is definitely ready to drink. I wish I had more. K

Yellow color with a restrained bouquet and flavor with citrus and oak notes. Good balance but with moderate depth. Flowers Chardonnays do tend to be more restrained and tighter than others, but this wine was probably showing a bit of age. Drink it up.

Popped and slow decanted for around 1 hour. Really aromatic nose of red cherry, cranberry, baking spices, orange peel, a hint of forest floor and sweet toasted oak on the back end. Wow. Similar flavors on the palate with the tart red fruits, some mineral driven flavors and a touch of sweet spice on the back end. Great acidity with a silky mouthfeel and caressing finish. Just fantastic and paired great with a seared duck breast with roasted grapes.

Lovely and a bit more austere than some other Flowers pinots. Has a nice tobacco tinged finish. Holding up well but should be consumed in the next year or so.

Flowers luncheon at SIXTEEN (Chicago, Illinois): could be vintage difference, but I'm digging the 2011 Sea View Ridge way over the '12 CMR PN. 43 acres of vines at SVR and almost all PN, with some Pinot Meunier. More Dijon clones here, but still dominated by heritage clones.
more ethereal on the nose than the CMR '12. ripe strawberry and a hint of spearmint on the palate. zest of lemon lime on the palate and more mossiness to the nose. 10% whole cluster. easier price than the CMR because there is more PN planted in SVR than CMR. SVR soils are iron rich, red volcanic ash. 30% new French for 15 months. 12.9% ABV.
1.7 acres of Pinot Meunier at SVR with block 19 PN, they have started a sparkling program. 2016 at the earliest.

Flowers luncheon at SIXTEEN (Chicago, Illinois): 11 acres of CMR PN. Swiss Wadenswil, Swan and Calera clones are noted as mostly heritage clones are employed with some Dijon 777 in there too.
a richer dark red fruit character to the nose. shows some of it's oak grain on the nose, earthiness. a touch of oak bitterness to the palate, showing rather tight. 20% Whole Cluster, 20% new French for 16 months. 12.9% ABV.

Flowers luncheon at SIXTEEN (Chicago, Illinois): a 5-9 day cold soak on all the PNs to give them a head start on extraction.
more fruit focus to the nose than the single vineyard PNs. red cherry, dark cherry, lemon lime zestiness, spice palate, turkish delight/fruitcake w/elegance, blood orange palate. 18-20% new french for 12 months, 5% whole cluster.

Flowers luncheon at SIXTEEN (Chicago, Illinois): 'more focus' than the '13 sonoma coast. 20% of this is Hyde Old Wente clone, prone to lots of hens and chicks.
a fuller palate, rounder than the '13 SC. palate shows its oak a bit more. 35% new french for 12 months, on the lees with no battonage, for 'density without weight.' partial malo, and some orange zest finishes on the palate.

Delicious big California style Chardonnay. After nearly five years there is a bouquet of spice, ripe pears and a hint of vanilla. In the mouth, there is fruit, some cream brûlée that is totally balanced with a juicy crisp follow through at the end. It all ends with wanting to take another drink to repeat again and again.

I had this wine 9 months ago and rated it a 95. This one was good but was not as good as the previous bottle for some reason. Two bottles bought at the same time, stored alongside each other in the same EuroCave. Differing results. This is what drives wine collectors to madness.
