3/17/2024 - wabi47 Likes this wine: 94 pointsdeep and dense; perfectly ripe; acidity stands up to the big fruit; sweet oak, christmas spice and earth; would have guessed a bit of young petit syrah was added to the glass; i have a mixed past with barolo, but every so often, one surprises and amazes me. |

3/3/2024 - Mbullmer Likes this wine: 92 pointsOrange bricked rim, cherry, cinnamon, fig, and a little bit of vanilla on the nose. Great flavor profile that matches the nose, medium+ acidity, tannins have mostly integrated at this point, medium+ finish. Enjoyed with ribeyes. |

2/23/2024 - cacastine Likes this wine: 91 pointsNice elegant and layered Barolo that certainly needs more bottle time. Was willing to open one up and give it a go with a couple more in the cellar. Will wait a few years at least for the next one. Lots of potential to "age up" into mid 90s. Structured, floral, red fruits and leather - tannin still very high and dominant. Can be drunk now with a full decant and a couple hours. |

2/7/2024 - Whine-oh Likes this wine: 93 pointsPopped and poured, gave small aeration with seive. Fine sediment. Orange hue. Mature Barolo once again in a prime spot. Tannins not too big but present. Lots of soft cherries with good secondaries, beautiful nose, and in a great place tonight. Went well with homemade roasted veggie pasta sauce. Need to buy more of these aged Barillas to restock my celler. Still rocking on night two with it only being recorked. |

1/19/2024 - Bob H wrote: NRGorgeous - I just had a bottle of this about two months ago, and this is really in the zone right now. Red fruit and tar on the nose, candied red fruit on the palate with decent acidity and good persistence. Fully mature at this point, but not showing any signs of decline either, so I’d say this was drink or hold. |

12/30/2023 - YuriyG Likes this wine: 91 pointsExcellent, full flavored example of Barbera. Red fruit that isn't sweet but has meaty undertones yet matches up favorably with food as well as it stands on its own. |

1/2/2024 - Vino Me wrote: 92 pointsOpened by Mark. Brick red color. Lightly sedimented. Not decanted but opened an hour before drinking. A dry Barolo with tart red fruit, cactus and and an earthy finish. Moderate tannins. Really nice and more forward than the 2001 Barolo Vecchia Vigne that we drank alongside this. 92 points. |

1/2/2024 - Vino Me wrote: 96 pointsMy 2nd of 3 bottles and this one was even better than the first bottle. Opened an hour before drinking. Light to moderate sediment. Purple color with a little bricking. Sweet red fruit on the nose. Integrated tannins that swirl on the palate and hold everything together. Smooth texture with meaty notes and a portlike richness to the black and red fruit. We drank this alongside the 2007 Corino Barolo which was also very nice. 96 points. |

11/15/2023 - spidermark wrote: 92 pointsDecanted for 7 hours, corked it and refrigerated it overnight, then let it breathe for 7 hours the following day. Still a bit tannic, but the tannins were soft and rather pebbly. This is a very good wine, and showed alot of rose petal, cigar leaf, cherry jam, was quite floral with a generous and expansive nose, and had some funk, truffles, dark fruit, and other earthy elements. |

11/10/2023 - Bob H wrote: NRI just had a glass of the ‘98 Roagna Paje and right now this wine comes across as younger and more lively on the palate. To be fair, 2001 is a more classic vintage than 1998, so we may just have better fruit in this wine. The wines are similar on the nose, but the cherry fruit on the palate is brighter here and the wine shows more acidity. That said, this is clearly a mature wine as well, so if you have it, consider pulling a cork in the near term. |
