I thought this really showed the house style and has great perfume and lift. A nice "baby barolo" rather than something situated in poorer sites

Medium garnet/brick. Expressive nose of tobacco, tar, raspberry, some animalic notes as well. Medium-light bodied, very elegant with noticeable but fine tannins. This is another elegant expression of Barolo, and great food wine.

- Crimsom color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry, strawberry jam and honey. It's balanced and has flavours of black currant and cherry with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Decanted for 45 minutes. Incredible nose and a finish that lasts for days.

Wines that Rock (Craig & Nita's Place): Medium red color. Same bottle as Chablis28, slow-ox as noted. Drank 2 glasses over several hours. This was stunningly good for such a young Barolo. This is so open and alluring on the nose and the palate. A wine with finesse and charm that doesn't clamp down and grip the palate. While still youthful in its demeanor, this shows the rose petal floral character with bright red fruits and attractive licorice notes. Seamless and fresh with a silky feel that goes on and on. Wow, I really wanna try this in about 10 years...Craig? 95+ to 96pts.

I started slow oxing this in a PN glass around 3:30, tasting occasionally, and drinking it between 7 - 9:30ish with our guest. Right out of the btl it was open for business but more primary until shortly after we started to drink it with dinner. This wine is crazy good with kaleidoscopic flavors. Finesse, elegance and complexity are it's calling cards. So much so, that its power and tannins go unnoticed. This is old school but not brutish or unfriendly in any way. I was, completely, smitten with this wine. We had two other great reds at the table but this one blew me away. Overused, but this is "Burgundian" and "ethereal" personified. Everything I hoped this would be. Can I keep my hands off my other btls? I doubt it. Paid $140 drinks in the class of a top shelf $500 plus Rousseau Grand Cru.

The wine looks brick colored. The legs are medium. There is medium to heavy sediment in the bottle. Regardless, the wine opens up nicely and pairs wonderfully with Italian cuisine! No surprise here as the Italians are maters at producing wine the pairs perfectly with food.

The 2011 Rinaldi Brunate bursts from the glass with an already expressive nose of ripe cherry, balsamic tones and subtle herbs. On the palate, the wine has a sweet attack and generous amplitude, with evident ripeness and comparatively low acidity. 2011 was a very warm vintage in Barolo and that has made its mark upon this wine, making it a bit more open-knit, easy-going and sweetly-fruited than usual, but right now there are no signs of sur maturité, so this looks set to be merely an earlier-drinking, less profound vintage of this great wine.

The 2004 Rinaldi Brunate Le Coste really needs another decade in the cellar, but its quality is already apparent. Classic aromas of black and red cherry are inflected by balsamic notes, rich soil tones and incipient hints of tar. On the palate the wine is broad-shouldered, sappy and expansive, with lovely acids, bright, vibrant fruit and firm structuring tannins. This is a powerful but elegant and refined rendition of Brunate. Serious stuff.

Decanted at 2pm. Nose of smokey black fruit and bacon. Silky and lush in the mouth with a long tannic finish of licorice and black fruit. Wow!
Opening well by 6pm. Big nose of roast beef, black fruit and licorice. Still loads of tannin on the finish with lots of licorice and tar. Should improve for another 5 years or more. Excellent with BBQ'ed short ribs.

What an amazing find on a restaurant wine list!!! Similar to the bottle of February 2015. First slightly holding back but with some air a knock-out nose of truffle/earth, tobacco, spices (pepper, licorice), tar, menthol, crushed flowers, some red but also plenty of dark berries. On the palate it's mainly darker fruit with crushed flowers, menthol, tar and tobacco. Breath-taking aromatic complexity even at this young age. It's medium-full bodied and very dense but still kind of weightless, with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is super silky and of the very highest quality. What an amazing wine this is! I can just taste it again and again over the course of the evening and it's showing something new everytime. Wow! Too bad these wines are just almost impossible to source.

Decanted for 3 hours. Very impressive nose with dried plums, prunes, barnyard, cherry licorice and caramel. The palate was so deep and concentrated..a traditionalist barolo style. There were multiple layers. Still a very young barolo. At least 10-15 more years ahead of it.

Deep, dark color, almost crimson. The nose is a bit simple yet delicious and more importantly very authentic, possessing notes of dark cherry, cranberry, dust and iron. On the palate crisp, bright and lively with a bit of spritz on the finish. Quite structured with superb acidity and polished, sticky tannins. Very tangy on the finish, making its presence felt on the way down in a really mouthwatering way. Immensely drinkable, like a Piemontese version of Foillard's wines. The succulent, yet lean texture is like nothing I've found in Barbera before. Impeccable balance and truly seamless, though definitely not in a too polished way. Simply put the best Barbera I've come across, nothing like those super premium Barberas with 200 % new oak, 15 % alcohol and the price tag of a Barolo. The only problem I have with this wine is that it is ridiculously teeth staining, but thankfully I have a dental professional in the family.

Friday Night Double Blind Mondo $100+ (Bin 75): Deep dull crimson core, slight clarity, brownish crimson rim; slight soy, brown sugar, roses, sexy, cinnamon, menthol; slight fishy note, softer tannin, nearing its peak, dried sour cherry; like the nose a lot but palate leaves me wanting a bit.

Nose of roses and truffles evolves to dried herbs and balsamic notes. Wonderfully complex in the mouth, with integrated tannins and a long fruit finish. Although this opened up nicely with decanting, it has plenty of years left to evolve. Savor now through 2025.

Extremely young off course, but already show the elegance that I like so much on Rinaldi's wines. Bright red transparent colour and nose showing rose petals, cherries, iced tea and earthyness. Extremely focused fruit and firm tannin grip! Will try one in a year or so!

(at Cinghiale - Baltimore) Absolutely glorious wine. With air, a terrific blend of rose, violets, celery salt and nail polish combine to form a complex and intoxicating nose. The palate is full with great intensity - yet harmonious because of good acidity and still strong tannins. Wonderful now yet will continue improve and provide glorious drinking for many years. I simply adore this producer. (95)

1989 Produttori del Barbaresco with Chambers Street Wines (Maialino, NYC): (Mystery wine at the end of a lot of wines...) Blood, some brick. Nose immediately breathed bubblegum on me, like a cute waitress on roller-skates, with her clove and vanilla; subtle menthol. Palate is firmly tannic but also soft(ening) and definitely approachable; good, deep cherry, sweet and long; a radar-ping of saline soy. Delicious! Years to go, but certainly good now -- don't hesitate to enjoy this. (My guess was an Aldo Conterno '89; classic but refined and approachable.) Great wine.
