12/5/2023 - TannicBeast Likes this wine: 90 pointsItalian Wine Scholar Class at The Texas Wine School. 100% Nerello Mascalese from the North side of Etna at approx. 2000' altitude. Med (-) ruby, with enticing aromas of red raspberry, red cherry, purple flowers, black plum, Mediterranean herbs and earth. Aged in cement and large neutral oak vats. Dry but sufficiently fruit-forward, with a pleasant crispness and freshness thanks to the altitude. Med to med (+) acidity, chalky tannins and alcohol (actually 14% but seems a little lower). Med (+) body and flavor intensity w/ a pleasantly saline and mineral finish. Well-balanced, versatile and a good value in the increasingly popular Etna category. Drink now or for the next several years, but IMHO not one for long-term aging since one of its appeals is the immediacy of the fruit. |

Aussi bien au nez qu’en bouche, il dégage de jolies flaveurs d’amande, de pain grillé, de prune noir, de figue et de cassis. En bouche, les saveurs de ce nectar volcanique composent une symphonie gustative harmonieuse et inspirée. Équilibré, complexe, concentré et doté d’une finale s’étirant sur de nombreuses et délicieuses caudalies, ce vin raconte une belle histoire. Je suis tout ouïe. |

Silky and elegant on the palate, with some characteristically bitter, chewy red fruit. Grippy on the finish, which I'd have liked to be a little longer. A good wine, but lacked the excitement of some of today's other reds. I'm not sure whether it needs more time, or there's limited upside. |
