This was nice, what I expected. A thick gob of black fruit with licorice, smoke, vanilla, and alcohol burn. The fruit wasn't overripe. Nonetheless, I found it went poorly with food because of the low acidity and thick fruit.

Beautiful berry notes leading to wonderful jam and fruit. Not over powering, but not weak at all. The perfect blend of both types of essence. Enjoy aromas of spice, blackberry with wild berries and pepper flavors.

Pop and pour: nose has more barnyard than I would ever expect from a zin. moderate tannins. kind of an onion/tomato vibe on the flavor (certainly not big fruit). not a huge fan right now, maybe needs some time or serious decanting.

Fantastic zin. I tend to like a little heat, especially on a zin with this much fruit and spice. The nose is very big and has lots of darker fruits. The mouth fills out really quickly and the finish is pretty long. Really enjoyed this.

Startlingly intense nose -- I could smell my glass from two arms lengths away. Raisin and raspberry jam up front. A few sips revealed dark chocolate covered cherries and a hint of white pepper. This wine is quite tight, biting tannins and some heat, though not enough to throw it off balance. I don't mind young wines but in a few years, this could be even better. Off to seek out a few more bottles for the cellar.

Pleasant, enjoyable Zinfandel. Peppery nose; nice spicy flavors with considerable depth. Very much a fruit-forward, new world wine. Just a bit hot on the finish, but, overall, a decent effort. Don't trust the "drinking window." This wine has peaked, and won't keep much longer. Drink up.

Was a long night of heavy drinking so I didn't take notes, but this was really tired. Past the initial pour for the party no one touched it.

A bit hot on first approach, it really began to open up and show lots of jammy fruit after an hour or so open. The color is much lighter than I was expecting. The tannins are well integrated and give this wine tremendous balance considering it's young age.

I kept the rest of the bottle corked in the fridge overnight. It's ri-donk-ulously better. The initial heat is gone. All I taste is beautiful raspberry & cherry fruit. The tannins only serve to extend the finish and contribute to what is a very balanced delicious wine.

Interesting bottle. Popped and poured. Out of the gate it was quite restrained and reserved. After some time in the glass, and a little warm-up, I started to get, dare I say, elegant notes of dark chocolate, cedar planks, black olives and red fruit. In the mouth, the tannins were integrated but still assertive and the decent acidity countered the innate richness that mirrored the initial aromas of chocolate, berries, etc. Towards the end it started getting a little tart and thin. Would probably have been better a year or two ago, but still an interesting drink nonetheless. At around $10 a joy to drink on an everyday basis.

I was dissapointed, expected to really like this wine, little fruit, didn't taste like a zin, don't know if it was just a bad bottle or what. got a little better with time.

Same notes as 6/21/09 bottle. One more in the cellar, and looking forward to this wine. Fruit is still strong but not overpowering.

Beautiful well rounded flavor on palate and finish. This Zin is not too heavy in tannins. Still nice fruit forward on nose and very pleasant. Nice dark purple color. A true winner. I love this wine !!!

Wine Country September 2000: Medium bodied with a spicy volatile nose. Has shed some tannins and softened some apparently.

Very fruit forward in the nose and palate. Blueberry jam, a bit of strawberry: borderline with being too sweet. Very noticeable oak the first day (mostly integrated by the second). Big weight in the palate but rather short finish. High score because it's just delicious and I'm not in "wine geek" mode today.

Deep garnet color with ruby rim. A powerful nose of dark fruit, spice, & appreciable oak. Extraordinarily balanced on the palate. All the dark fruit [plums, blackberries, & cherries], creamy oak, brown spices, & vibrant acidity are all integrated very well; no single component is more pronounced than any other. Still drinking exceptionally well for a `97. [14.5% abv.; $15 (an absolute steal!)].

Had this wine toward the end of the night after having numerous wines so I did not take detailed notes. However, this was a very enjoyable zin. Very dark color. Loads of black and red fruits but not jammy, more restrained in style. Typical zin black pepper flavors as well. However, at this price point I have had better so I would not rebuy based on QPR.
