White flowers, green mango, lemon, slate. Lovely. Heaps of length. Celebrating Mum’s 80th, opened this one in honour of her two 2010 vintage granddaughters.

Cherry, kirsch, plum. Leafiness, green beans. Sweet malty oak. Pleasant soft pillowy tannin. Had an inexplicable urge for Canberra region Cabernet today and this has cured me, as in, I doubt I will get that urge again any time soon, at least one from the recent cool and wet vintages. Strange wine. I feel at 84 I’m being generous, sort of a mix of scoring it as a drink (maybe higher) and scoring it as a Cabernet (probably lower). Possibly if you told me this was some wacky red blend I’d have liked it a *little* more. Poor value, and arguably shouldn’t have been released, will only damage the brand.

Lime, honey, toast and yellow florals. Palate is rounded out but still fresh and clean up well into a good length finish. In a great spot for drinking now.

Impressive wine given this is Helm’s bottom tier of Rieslings. Drinking well now. Long finish, mineral slate and lemon sherbet dominating with a touch of petroleum from the ageing starting to emerge. The previous poster was unfair to give it a score in the 80s.

Light gold. White florals, lemon, mineral. Medium palate, so fresh and clean. Balanced. Has a steely feel, and then the fruit pushes though and it looks almost lush. Belies its age. Drink or hold.

Clear appearance, with a highlighter yellow colour. Dusty nose. with hints of fuel and lime peel. Full-bodied palate, with crunchy acidity and minerality. There's a touch of sweetness, but it's closer to dry than half dry (quarter dry?). Very mild flavours of lemon cordial and mineral water. Not much flavour, but lovely balance and texture. Went down a treat with a spicy seafood salad.

Bold, focused nose of blackberry and star anise, with background notes of campfire smoke and graphite. Palate shows very strong, sharp acidity backed by faint, smooth tannin. Flavours of blackberry juice and finger lime. Nose is wonderful, palate is too acidic for my liking.

Top shelf Riesling. Aging beautifully. Drank over two days. Love aged Canberra district Riesling. Generally I've found that they need at least a decade to integrate. Balance of citrus fruits and talc. So different from Eden and Clare. This will go another decade easily.

Lovely pungent and intense, citrus - orange blossom, lime and talc and mineral notes. Great fruit depth as well as a spiciness, lots of citrus, lovely depth as well as great length. Soft but fresh acid finish. Very impressive

Golden colour. Passionfruit, lemon, yellow florals and some toast. Rounding out but still feels fresh and vibrant, not about to fall over but I think this is a great time to open it.

Kerosene, lime, honey, a little herbaceous underpin. Medium plus intensity acidity is a little sharp, residual sugar, a touch of honey, lime cordial.
I guessed Australian Riesling 2012 possibly Grosset Alea

Excellent. Always a reliable label. Drinking well and seemingly has more time in bottle. 13.5% alc.
Colour: black berries
Bouquet: mint, smokey, cured meat, developed berries fruit characters
Palate: mint, more berry character than nose and fresher, plus dark chocolate and oaky characters. Full bodied but smooth with soft fine grained tannins. Long clean finish. Good firm structure and balance between tannins, fruit and alcohol.

2022 Sydney catch up with Paddy and Nico.
Drunk along side a 2017 Moss Wood and absolutely held it’s own in terms of quality.
Open for a couple of hours prior to drinking. PnP.
Pronounced nose of black fruits, cassis and savoury herbal notes, prune/dried fruits and dusting of cocoa.
On the palate this is in a fantastic place right now with some primary fruit still present, savoury herbal notes. Tertiary flavours of leather, earth and dusty tannins, dry red fruits and wonderful length beautifully integrated oak. Smooth and long ++. Med- acid.
Get the sense it could go a few more years but given the way it’s drinking not sure I’ll wait.

Have given this a lowish score , but simply due to its youth. Super zingy long lingering acid line. Will be lovely but give it 5 years minimum

Wow, this one really hit the mark! Earthy, fruity, slightly dry and bitter but in a tantalising way rather than a lemon sucking way.

A heavyish wine but one still smooth.

Quite the anomaly is this wine. I really can't think of any Canberra cab of note apart from Helm and I've never had a bad one. So why not more options? Anyway this is very complete; constant line of fruit right through the palate, smooth and balanced, ripe berries. Touches of overripe heavy fruit all be it subtle but suggests ripeness is at the right hand side of the equation. Won't be a long term keeper.

Very interesting wine. Kind of smoky, fruity and peppery all at once. Really liked it and the only reason it didn't go even higher is a slight bitterness
