Showing its age beautifully. Rich opaque purple color. Deep spice and transitions on the palette. Fuller bodied than other JC wines I have had. So sad it was my last - will look for more Haley.

Mostly zinfandel blend from Sonoma. At 14.9% alcohol hotness is evident and in your face. Deep, opaque ruby red. Some roasted notes without being woody. Fragrant. Bold. Juicy.

BJAMESCLARK's TN pretty well nailed it. This wine is a party in a glass. Deep, dark, glass-staining purple in color. The nose is clean, with blackberry, blueberry, baked fruit and baking spices (cinnamon), toasted pine-nuts and smoky new oak. The palate is dry, but with lots of sweet fruit upon entry, including blackberry, black cherry, and strawberry shortcake. The alcohol is medium (+) to pronounced at 15%, yet the wine is a lot more balanced than might appear at first swirl and sniff, thanks to medium (+) acidity and medium (+) to pronounced tannins. This is a full-bodied wine with medium (+) to pronounced flavor intensity. Thanks to its velvety and rich mouthfeel, this wine lingers on the palate through a long finish. This is a great cocktail wine, but it is an even better food wine. It provides a good foil to savory, salty and fatty foods which really help bring out its complexity. It is drinking very well right now, but it clearly has the structure and stuffing to last several more years. Very impressive effort.

Completely different than the last time I tasted. this bottle shows medium/ medium+ aromas of wild berries; particularly wild raspberries and boysenberry with scents of bramble, camphor and campfire smoke that blend with notes vanilla, violets, cinnamon and cedar.
On the palate medium medium+ bodied. With grippy medium/medium+ tannins, and medium plus acidity. Jammy flavors of tart berries; boysenberries, marion berry, wild raspberry and blackberry. Cedar, herbs, cinnamon stick, camphor, smoke, peppercorn and meat also present. the finish lingers with medium-plus intensity, letting the slightly gritty tannins play against the acidity with lingering boysenberry and smoke flavors.

Overall drinking well, still has the stuffing to age longer...

All came together for me. Pepper, a hint of smoke and blueberry pie on the nose. Fruit profile changes more to blackberry, with some slight savory notes and a touch of acidity. High on hedonistic pleasure, it didn't disappoint on this weekend evening.

Lush fruit bomb "light." Crimson color, blackberry nose. Gripping body of dark spicy fruits and high alcohol & tannins. Abundant fine sediments; luscious lingering finish.

Meaty aromas with plum, blackberry, wild blueberry, leather, violets, with vanilla, oak, espresso, light baking spices and hints of tobacco and fig.
On the palate the acidity is very alive, at a medium+ level. moderate tannins, and pure flavors of blackberry, wild blueberry and plum with notes of game meats, camphor, violets, vanilla and a touch of chocolate, earth and espresso.

I loved my previous bottle last summer, and this one impressed me even more. Big, brambly, fruity, and spicy. This has it all, and it's not too heavy, and it's certainly not raisiny or port-like. Holding up just fine and apparently still improving.

Wines At Our Table; Week of May 10th 2015; 5/4/2015-5/10/2015: Opaque violet color with appealing kirsch, blackberry, Herbs de Provence, and white pepper aromas. On the palate, medium-bodied, with good acidity and fine grained well-integrated tannins with baked black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry and espresso flavors, and a bit of minerality, and a lingering finish. Russian River fruit. 50/50 Grenache and Syrah.

Amazing. Flavor profile of dark berry compote, with a savory tapenade finish. Tannins still pretty solid, good to keep on the cellar for a few more years if you choose.

I think this is JC best wine. I like the idea of the blend and the actual wine pans out. One reviewer says this is unbalanced one says it is balanced. I think the is JC's most balanced wine. It's restraint is what makes it a better wine to me. To each his (her) own. I am not getting oak, just a nice, tangy wine.
