Pepper, dark fruit and blueberry on the nose. Full-bodied, spice, black and blue berry on the palate. Peppery finish. Despite the 15% ABV, it does not come across as hot. Well balanced. Drinkable now.

77/12/11 Cabernet/Merlot/Cab Franc. Nose shows lush black fruit, layers of deep flowers, baking spices. Palate is impressive, showy, juicy black plum, cassis, chocolate, blackberry, toasted vanilla, definitely a drink now or hold if you want structure. Medium tannins are soft, acidity medium, alcohol seems medium plus but it's labeled 15.5% (!), so nice balance and integration here. Both a crowd pleaser and collectible.

Nose shows classic Cab, dark fruit, fresh tobacco, herbal, baking spice, American oak. Palate is savory, vanilla, black plum, blackberry, tasty fruit, doesn't have big structure behind it but it does keep up for what it is. Good entry level, BTG style wine.

Not many producers make SB in Paso. 5 months stainless steel. Nose is clean style, crisp white flowers, citrus of lemon peel, light tropics like slight pineapple. Palate is juicy, pleasant, citrus layers, some must, some sweet grapefruit but not tart, lemongrass, refreshing style, pretty decent QPR.

Swizzle for a quick burst. Balanced, light tannins. Probably past its prime, but still very drinkable. Drink up soon.

Gorgeous, thick, juicy, just the thing for Sunday dinner. Reminded me of some solid Oakville offerings....

The oak here is not subtle, but it does well to balance the fruit. Tannins are in check an nicely integrated. Decanting recommended but I would not filter it. The dusty tannins clogged the Rabbit and I just went without it and loved every last glass.

Given the purity of the fruit and the overall level of complexity here, this seems over-priced by a factor of 2. Nice by itself, even worked pretty well with food, but nothing memorable here - I was hoping otherwise.

Always an excellent value. Blackberry pie on the nose; a kick of blueberry jam and oak on the palate. You can never go wrong with this wine.

Drinking beautifully. A little more brambly then up north, which I have come to expect in Paso Robles Cabs.

I really like this one from nose to finish. It's very fruit-forward and has a pleasant level of perceived "sweetness" all around, though its bone dry. I like the black berry tones in front, tempered by some nice licorice and hints of dried beef. Mouth is rich, round and supple. Finish brings in some nice herbal characteristics, but the fruit keeps it's place front and center.

I can enjoy this on its own or with food. Good stuff and just gave it about 1 hour decant. Enjoy for several more years at it seems youthful.

Wine Spectator gave this vintage a 93 score. Im giving it a 89. Tons of fruit. their previous vintages and even the 2011 was fantastic, I just don't see it being a 93. A good wine, but not worth the price. I would spend 35 on this particular vintage. If you feel that I am wrong, then try having other Sryah's against it...you might change your mine. Tonight I also opened a 2011 Relentless from Shafer. I will be giving this a a score of 90-91.

I agree with clmtgr that this is past its peak: it is smooth and soft in the way of aged right-bank Bordeaux and, while my bottle is perfectly drinkable, I would not postpone drinking these if I had any remaining. Drink up!

If you have some drink it. This bottle is likely to end up as cooking wine as I am contemplating even finishing my first glass. It's drinkable but past peak and rapidly declining. Either that or my bottle got warm at some point.

Fourth in a four-bottle Isosceles vertical. Cellared since purchase from Justin eight years ago. Stewed, cooked, whatever; though not corked. Still, this was undrinkable.

This was third in an Iscoseles vertical, and the WOTN by a hair. Mature, very well integrated tannins, a hint of cedar, red and back fruits, all in balance.
