This is a great wine. There seems to be great variability over the last several years. Some good vintages, some less good. This bottle is already developing secondary characteristics. When I opened I thought it was a lot older. It doesn't hit you in the face like most KW pinots. It aged very gracefully. Light on its feet with plenty of acidity. Still has dark fruit tone with some caramel. Excellent.

Great example of the power and balance of the 2012 Oregon vintage. Dark in color with black cherry, vanilla and subtle spice up front. Nice acidity which should age well, but not in a meaningful way. The finish is complex and quite long. Big fan.

Partially blind tasted (1 of 6 possible Pinot Noirs). Light Ruby, concentration is low, viscosity is medium. Nose is youthful, full of fruit, perfume, not much oak, no earthiness. It's bursting with aroma. The palate is muted, light bodied. Definitely some fruit, but alcohol levels are low, acidity is low. Fruit predominates, but it's not jammy. Oak is medium - I taste it but it is integrated very well. Balanced, tastes old world to me. I tend to like Pinots a bit more flavorful, but this is elegant. 91-92

This is delightful. I put a note to wait after the bottle I had last October, but it's in a great spot now. Canary Hill is probably my favorite Ken Wright vineyard. Delicate and crisp with red berry fruit, some smokiness, and some nice spicy background. The finish lingers. Served with rillettes and with butter braised pork chops. Awesome.

Wonderful florals and bright, red fruits sprinkled with white pepper. Smooth, balanced, and enjoyably tart, with intensity and length on the finish.

Highly aromatic floral bouquet, loads of cherry, cranberry, and raspberry fruit, muddled spring flower petals, and terroir on the palate. Great acid, delightful finish. Let it rest for two to three years for maximum enjoyment.

Raspberry color, nose of tamarind and cream. Excellent spicy persistence through mid palate to finish. Fairly large scaled Pinot for Eola Amity hills. Delicious and balanced with a hint of heat in finish.

Ruby transparent red with aromas of ash and red strawberries. Acid plus with prominent tannins and very savory, ashy taste with a lot of minerality and firm structure. Still angry and not softened yet. Your go to wine for braised red met. This is not your fruity Pinot and eats up a lot of Sonoma Cabernets alive! Let it air at least an hour and you'll have monster of a wine ready for your complex meal.

Not one of Ken Wright's better wines (It was bottled with a Nomacorc) but I didn't think it was as bad as some of the other reviews. Definitely a lighter Oregon Pinot. Nice nose but nothing to write home about in the body or finish.

Very pleasantly surprised. Cellar tracker gave this a drinking window through 2011. Wine Spectator's window was through 2008. Plus the last Cellartracker tasting note was from 8/2010. Opened this at a "lost in the cellar" dinner and it showed very well. Definitely not over the hill. Over the course of the evening, it opened up and really showed off lots of complex flavors. It was delicate (at this age) and had more acidity than fruit.

Burgundian indeed! Earthy, mushrooms, a bit of lovely funk. Not too acidic, yet crisp, not thin. Drinking well now though I'd want to wait until 2018 to open my 2nd one.

Decanted for 2 hours. Very darkly colored--opaque center tapering to a very thin clear rim. Ripe nose of blackberry jam, roasted sweet spices, smoke and touch of menthol. The flavors reflect the ripeness of the nose but there is good freshness to the black fruit liqueur, and baked berry flavors. Certainly a big boy and a crowd pleaser, it seems a bit awkward tonight with the acidity not really meshing with the fruit. Last sip was the best. Drink soon. Now through 2017.

Loved it. An absolutely marvelous Pinot with intense cherry and berry fruit without straying into jammy. There's an earthiness to the long finish. I don't use the 100-point scale, but this is 5 out of 5.

Opened about 2 hours before a blind tasting. Initially wasn't my favorite but by the end of the night gained some ground. Very light in color. Beautiful earthy nose. Taste wasn't very complex initially but was appreciated when I came back to it later in the night. Not a bad choice for price point.

4/8/2015 - I LIKE THIS WINE: (Edit) 95 Points
This was an extraordinary wine. Paper filtered and decanted yielding a lovely garnet liquor and leaving behind some large chunky black debris and a fine sand of crystals at the bottom of the filter. The aromas of ripe red and blue fruit were enticing and the explosive flavors of raspberry, cherry, blueberries, and wonderfully smooth and sweet finish were intoxicating and led us down the path of over-consumption and exhaustion. Sadly, we were unable to finish the last glass each after splitting the bottle. But, I have more in the cellar and I look forward to consuming them in the near future.
